Lazarus Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Hello All. I am not at home at present and need to know the rail height of 9v/pf track in mm. Eg. Rail Height: 5.08mm Thanks Matthew Quote
ronenson Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Including the sleepers I think it's exactly one brick high, which equals 9.6 mm Quote
djm Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 (edited) It's 24 LDU's high, so that's 0.4mm * 24 LDUs = 9.6 mm. Just the rail (i.e. excluding the sleeper) is 16 LDUs, so the rail is 6.4 mm high. Regards, David Edited December 3, 2014 by djm Quote
Lazarus Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 (edited) Sweet 6.4 mm that's what i wanted just bought rail that is 5.08mm high, so it should match up ok. I to move up to gauge 1 rail to get the height i needed so i hope it looks right. Was having issues finding the correct rail height in peco G scale. And i cant find Atlas G scale track in NZ. When the order shows up will be able to start work on my custom turnouts bends and straights. Edited December 3, 2014 by Lazarus Quote

Lazarus Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 Sorry custom turnouts bends and straights, not customer :-/ I am over tight lego bends and tight turn outs my custom trains run like megablocks. So I am starting on a new layout with all my own made track and turn outs the works. I will still keep my current layout for shows and for my lego designed trains. I am going to make the layout look as realistic as possible and stay away from a lot of the bright lego colors also. Quote
detjensrobert Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 That was a speedy reply. Sounds like a good idea. What are the rails you are getting? Quote
Lazarus Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 P-SL600 - FLEXI TRACK Code200 [sM-32] Wooden Sleeper type, Nickel Silver just bought 2 for a test before i go all out and buy heaps. I just pull the rail of the stock plastic sleepers. Quote
garethjellis Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 (edited) Hey Matt. The most accurate size is code 250, g scale rail. Code 250 is 1/4 inch as is Lego rail. check out this place, http://microengineer...oducts_rail.htm have a look at product 17-252 also here http://www.switchcrafters.com/ez-catalog/X381875/14/SC-NSR-250-48 Edited December 3, 2014 by garethjellis Quote
Lazarus Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 Ta for that Gareth. Price is a bit on that G scale stuff :-). O scale was ok but it needed about 1mm height for the lego wheel flanges to pass free over the sleepers. I am going to try and do the whole layout in my own track so as long as the 5mm track is higher enough then it should be good. Quote
garethjellis Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Have a look at the Aluminum extruded rail. its $3.50 per 6ft length. I think a box of 96ft is only $48, that's not to bad a price. http://www.switchcrafters.com/ez-catalog/X381875/14 Quote
Lazarus Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 Ya prices are good on that site and thats heaps of rail for $50us, I am asking them how much the shipping is it NZ. Haha if this code 200 is no use I will have to move upto 250 and order a 4th set of track Quote
