Scubacarrot Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Guts finishes his meal. He softly says to his companions that were not engaged in conversations. "I feel like we got all there is to get from this place. Maybe one more thing. The scratch, could have lead here. The only thing I see that could cause it is that boy's spears. Watch me." The Alchemist steps next to Nerwen, and inclines his head: "Couldn't help but overhear, you must be talking about duelling? I've never met someone that uses multiple spears for that sort of thing, mind if I take a look at those fine looking weapons? Is that real gold?" Quote
Palathadric Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 "Yes, I had come to that conclusion myself." Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 "Good eye, Guts," Alexandre whispers, then to the women: "Overwatch. Can you tell me more about them?" Quote

I've never met someone that uses multiple spears for that sort of thing, mind if I take a look at those fine looking weapons? Is that real gold?" "Real gold? No. Adamantium," Garrett replies, drawing the spears and twirling their butts to face Guts. "Look all you like, but don't try to swipe 'em. They're my treasures." Grabbing a hold of both, Guts notices two things: their weight and balance are strange. The spears are lighter than expected, and their balance is off-- the tips are heavier than the butts. Examining further, Guts notices that the spears are well-worn and battle-scarred, but also well-kept. "Good eye, Guts," Alexandre whispers, then to the women: "Overwatch. Can you tell me more about them?" "The Overwatch are basically our overseers. They're the surpreme authority and our standing army. I don't know much about their inner workings, but they've a few divisions, each operated individually. The politicians, the army, and the elite." Quote

Who rule by arms and weaponry? Does any have any magical abilities?" Edited December 30, 2014 by Capt.JohnPaul Quote
Scubacarrot Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Guts looks closely at either the butts or the tips of the spears for any indication that they have been scraped against pavement recently. "Adamantium? Wow. Any reason for the way they are balanced?" Quote
Palathadric Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 "There's a hero in the hall who would give his seeing eye to have that Adamantium," I say thoughtfully as I casually glance over. Quote
The Legonater Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 "Some of us just need a drink sometimes," the blonde replies, slightly somber. "Most are afraid of going out because the bodies are... creepy. If you're new in town, just remember to obey the Overwatch and City Guard, and you'll be welcome within out walls any time." And if we don't? What happens then? Quote
UsernameMDM Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 "And if we don't? What happens then?" "Probably the same thing that happens in any other city with a peacekeeping force." Hoke looks about a bit trying to decide if it was worth being in the tavern anymore or if it was time to go. He watches as Guts inspects the braggart's spears and the others engage in conversation. If the issue of the bodies was such a worrisome business that threatened war, then they needed to be on the case and out of the tavern as soon as possible. Hoke uses Diplomacy. "Ladies and sir, I hate to break up the party but we are here specifically because of those bodies. Could any of you provide any information about them or recent happenings that could be connected to the bodies? Any interesting characters new in town? Magic? Vampires? Gang rivalries?" Quote
Emjajoas Posted January 1, 2015 Author Posted January 1, 2015 "They just ordinary elite people? Who rule by arms and weaponry? Does any have any magical abilities?" "As far as I know, they don't have any magic-users," she shrugs. "I know nothing of their inner workings, though." Guts looks closely at either the butts or the tips of the spears for any indication that they have been scraped against pavement recently. "Adamantium? Wow. Any reason for the way they are balanced?" Guts notices nothing-- there are small chips on the heads and butts from what is doubtlessly battle, but nothing seems recent and there are no scratches that would indicate it was scraped. "Personal preference. If the butts are too heavy, the spears become worthless when wielded in one hand. When the balance is off, they're easier to control." And if we don't? What happens then? "The only thing close to a gang rivalry is--" A shrill scream pierces the air from outside the tavern. Garrett sighs, but the heroes, true to their instincts, rush outside. Once there, the heroes find themselves in a dangerous situation. Five individuals brandishing weapons are all focused on one unarmed man-- until a heavily-armoured warrior and a cloaked figure rush in to save the civilian. The five thugs quickly turn their attention to the black-armoured man. Would the heroes rush to his aid? Quote
Palathadric Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 "As much as I am tempted to rush in on the behalf of the defendant, I can't help but think we might learn something from this. ...Still means before ends, right?" Quote
Chromeknight Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I'm not sure it matters which side we join, but joining the outnumbered side may make things more fun. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 "We can always kill them all, and figure it out later." Guts suggests. Quote
Chromeknight Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Nerwen nods and grins. It's worked before. Quote
The Legonater Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 That won't be necessary. I step forward. What's going on here? Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 "I have a feeling the armored man is important and might be able to tell us some information if we help him." Quote
Emjajoas Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 The startled civilian quickly turns to Dyric, hands, knees, and voice shaking. "I was j-just attacked," he manages. "T-t-they said they want my m-money." "More trouble?" the redheaded thugs asks, brandishing his blades and turning to the heroes. "They don't seem too much of a threat." "Hrk! We cut them down too!" Next to the civilian, the red-cloaked figure speaks up, turning to the heroes. "Although I don't doubt my guards abilities, you could help him." The black-clad guard in question had his blade crossed with the halberd-toting thug, barely making any form of noise aside from muffled breathing emerging from his helmet. He furiously swipes and strikes at his opponent, forcing her to stay out of his range. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 "Alright, alright. If that's how it is." Guts downs a mead, nostrum and smelling salts and jumps in the fray. Quote
Chromeknight Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Nerwen follows the knight and alchemist. Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Alexandre rushes with them, making his way to the front. Quote
