stebai Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 (edited) "Bah humbug!". Ebeneezer left the Lego Movie, realizing what a terrible mistake he had made when he decided on a life of accountancy. "The real money is in coffee", he mumbled as he trudged home through the snow banks, his misery mounting, "Banks without money - humbug.." As he reached his destination he paused outside his cold and lonely office, "I'll have to do something about this..." With a new found enthusiasm Ebeneezer set about creating a lovely little coffee & book shop, "Books & Blends". He soon found he had stumbled upon a goldmine, people just loved his coffee and dusty old almanacs. He even allowed Charlie, the local chestnut seller to set up outside his store. Ebeneezer didn't even ask for a percentage of Charlie's takings! Everyone agreed his cosy, little cafe was just the place to warm up on a winters day. Ebeneezer though, peering down from his balcony study, still liked to keep en eye on the business, Old habits were hard to lose, but he was happy. The books sold well, but the real money was in the COFFEE!! Ebeneezer's Books & Blends became so popular he never looked back on his miserable past. His staff loved the kindly man, who, in-turn, paid them well and valued their help. Everything indeed, with a little help from Lego, was "awesome" for Ebeneezer Scrooge. Merry Christmas! I hope you like the entry - as always I try to keep my builds as close in size and parts to the official Lego sets. There is also a Light Brick in there but it's hard to see (it's underneath Ebeneezers study). All the best to my fellow Lego builders for the competition & festive season - see some of you at Brickvention I hope in Melbourne 2015. Edited December 21, 2014 by stebai Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Very good, also the signs A-M / N-Z. "awesome" Merry Christmas to you! Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 So he made has cash and built a book shop and coffee house......okay, but he still looks the same old Ebeneezer ! Excellent designing, good luck and Brick On 'stebai' ! Quote
Andy D Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 (edited) Great build. Fits in perfectly with the WV theme and a bookstore/coffee shop is a perfect addition to the village. Good luck with the contest! Andy D Edited December 20, 2014 by Andy D Quote
TheLegoDr Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 I hate to be that guy and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that Abe Lincoln's stovetop hat? The rules say no sculpting/modifying parts... Otherwise, the set looks good. I like the decals. I like the idea of the whole scenario. It seems fitting. Best of luck. Quote
stebai Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 (edited) Yeah it is the hat - sorry forgot about that - just wanted the "mutton chop" look without the beard. I have updated the photo's with a full hat & beard piece. I hate to be that guy and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that Abe Lincoln's stovetop hat? The rules say no sculpting/modifying parts... TheLegoDr Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 want you to get disqualified. This is a neat idea. Although now I will have some competition... It isn't yellow but this head may work. Quote
Venunder Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Very nice. I will try to recreate this .... Quote
CardinalBricks Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Love your custom decals, the dome windows are nice and I love the inside, it looks so cozy. Great job! Quote
ritzcrackerman Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 The butcher from the Series 6 CMF has some nice muttony chops, but unfortunately, a pleasant smile. May not work either.... (Although a preponderance of coffee and books should put even Ebeneezer in a good mood!) http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_cLiTLUqX5A/TtnGB3FoodI/AAAAAAAAArY/huiRBpTEozw/s1600/Butcher.jpg Quote
AlcoEmmen Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 This just breathes charles dickens. A bit dark but just fits christmas very well Quote
Withacee Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Great job; I like the untypical colour scheme. The black is unusual, buy it works perfectly. Love the coffee machine and the chestnut cart too. Good luck, and keep clicking those bricks together! Quote
antp Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Nice building, I like the color theme, these dark + brownish colors stand out well in the snow Quote
Leopold Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Awesome idea! I love the design on the side. Quote
Emma Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Every village needs a bookstore - this one is great. The mosaic style walls are unique, and look lovely, but the really eye-catching detail is the decal work Quote
Gabor Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 (edited) Great moc with some interestnig details! Good luck! Edited January 1, 2015 by Gabor Quote
snowdogs Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 I love everything about this! I am a huge fan of A Christmas Carol AND Starbucks so it's perfect! The front of the building is certainly charming but the real character is inside. The detail makes the build. I also love that Scrooge is sitting above everyone, observing, perfect! Quote
charly1221 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 This is a great building...one of the best winter village buildings I've ever seen Quote
