Well technically, the "first" Ancient City concept art is the reversed one due to all other official media having the toa come from the same direction of the entrance as the Night-time one. The animations provide evidence. Soooo.... until we have official word from the Bionicle Story Team, I'm considering ALL promo stuff (russian stuff mostly) canon. Or at least the City Map; that's just too cool! :classic:

Appears the facebook page might be experiencing some issues when it comes to entering the competition, multiple people have entered recently with their entries not being added to the gallery despite being days old. Just a heads-up :L

Update;

Appears the gallery is completely broken... has been for about an hour now. Facebook entries are not processing to the gallery and have'nt since yesterday, twitter and instagram were working up until about 4:25PM today and then stopped, hasnt updated for the newer ones since.

Still hasnt been fixed and no new twitter, instagram or facebook entires have been added to the gallery since. Tried contacting Lego via twitter, email, etc... (despite calling customer service was directed to an automated message saying it was a holiday). Seems this competition has hit a massive stop with tons of entries backing up.

People are entering but nobody appears to be staffing the facebook page to approve the images, as such the images are not being counted. End of first week draw is the 5th and if it isnt fixed soon then worried all the entries made after the 3rd (or 2nd for Facebook users) wont be counted =/

I think TLG will work things fairly. Hopefully they'll fix the system before the first deadline, but if they don't, I'm sure they'll count all the entries where they should be.

Quick question, is Onua a good purchase? Got the chance of getting him and can't seem to find Tahu or Kopaka yet.

He's my second favorite of the new Toa, after Gali. Go for it!

Onua is definately better then I thought he would be, and I already knew he would be a killer set. Funny, Kopaka is in my next wave of purchases but I really haven't cared for the set too much which is odd because I really loved Kopaka in Gen 1. I think it's that leg armor. ;_;

definitely a good purchase IMO. Great looking figure, and good parts too. My favorite toa, highly recommend by me. :classic:

Onua is by far my favorite set out of the bunch, really solid, fun build, cool weapon, he is buff and cool and my friend.

Honestly, Onua is totally worth it. So far he's the only Toa I have bought more than one of, and I haven't regretted it. The build is fun, he looks the part (as long as you don't mind liberal use of both gold and silver), and to top it off, he makes an excellent parts pack even at full price. I've been able to make use of almost all his parts in various MOC's. Pick one up if you have the chance :thumbup:

I hope so, at the moment it appears to be counting the twitter and instagram entries again - but still none of the facebook entries have been acknowledged as to whether they are entered. The person moderating the facebook page appears to have gone AWOL and at the moment it seems the only entries being counted are the twitter and instagram and those are piling up with entries that should'nt be allowed, such as actual photos of real Bionicle masks, real life creatures, a tree with sunglasses and actual tribal masks.

This has to be one of the worst managed competitions i've seen in a long while, half the people running round like headless chickens, troll/not-allowed entries that shouldnt be getting counted being allowed while legitimate entries are being left behind due to someone not doing their job :L

I'm calling legit. This is completely unseen concept art

Seems legitimate to me also, then again the only thing Bionicle is the ruins and Kopaka (?)

I haven't seen that particular prelim art, but there might be similar thinking behind that change indeed. Though you do get red skies iin the real world, so the reason for the edit may not be as clear-cut as just "too scary".

I agree. The Skull Villains for the most part look scarier than anything in G1 Bionicle. The masks especially, with their almost demonic and certainly very sinister appearance. And since you brought up Barraki (the creepiest of the "villains" in G1), I always regarded Takadox as pretty scary and creepy myself (in fact, didn't LEGO label him as such?). Didn't stop me from buying 6 of him though, I love sets that push that boundary of creepiness. It's likely I'll be picking up multiple copies of many of the Skull Villains :classic:

The difference is quite clear, but I also found this which is just as red and looks pretty final (though I've never seen it before). Dunno what happened behind the scenes.

I think that the Barraki were on average more daring than most BIONICLE villains. In HF, I think that the only ones who came close were Core Hunter himself and Scarox. The Piraka looked very sinister but they were too "in your face" evil for me (I'm talking about the sets, not the characters), while the Barraki were so odd and otherwordly (just like deep sea creatures are!) that they managed to be far creepier- the bead-like, dead looking eyes made them even "worse". I guess this is why I'm comparing them to the Skull villains: both are reminiscient of two different things that most humans find alien and scary, deep sea creatues and death.

Same case with Tahu and Gali one. Same artstyle.

Sigh... even more wasted story/universe potential :cry_sad:

I don't think "wasted" is the right word; should the line continue TLG may pull up the concept art for more inspiration.

However, I agree that the non-use of such fantastic concept pieces is disappointing. They give us the impression that Okoto is a massive and beautiful place, but we've seen hardly any of that in the animations and elsewhere. It would certainly make the world feel more real and mysterious if we did.

....Wasted? Why, because we didn't explore every single inch of Okoto yet? Seriously, we have at least three more years on Okoto, so why not save some of the world building for later? The story, right now, does not revolve around the individual regions of Okoto--it's all about the Ancient City right now.

Actually, it's an expansion; the original concept art we had more of a close-up on the Toa and the entrance. See and compare:

BTW; I think we're missing one Skull Villain light in the night picture (either that or Skull Slicer and Skull Scorpio are together; they're both green, after all).

And though I enjoy the little map/Doo-Head reference, I'm not sure it's accurate enough: the water canals don't seem to match up. Too bad; it was such a good Easter Egg :cry_sad: .

Well, we did spend the first half of 2015 with the Toa looking for the Golden Masks, so I can understand why some might feel Okoto hasn't been explored properly. There's still hope for 2016/17, though.

Has anyone noticed that the concept art seems more post-apocaliptic than the actual media? Even the Ancient City is more in ruins than in episode 7, where there's only a few cobwebs, some cracks and a broken totem (which is weird, since the Legend video showed a bit more destruction...)

Yes, so many ruins, what could have happened to Okoto ? The Ancient City was obviously abandoned after the Mask Bros' fight, but there seems to be ruins everywhere on the island (at least according to these concept arts).

Well, we have'nt read the books so we dont know that for sure. Plus we have no idea if we'll go to a new island, we could end up spending 3 years on Okoto exploring different areas to find the three masks. Dont count it out just yet :P

This trend is something in the comics also, seems the original idea was for the Skull Spiders to be a lot more robotic, the protectors to be the same size as the toa and for their to be a lot more ruins

I guess we have enough evidence to trust this site now.

Aside from fish and skullspiders bats are the only fauna we have seen yet.
