Vodnik Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) Amazon.co.uk has them! Not really: "Usually dispatched within 3 - 5 weeks" But indeed it may suggest that we will see them in Europe. Edited July 10, 2015 by Vodnik Quote
kelceycoe Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 SDCC 2015 Cool... where'd you find this? I'm struggling to find candid or media photos of LEGO Scooby Doo. Can you photograph the sets on sale or ask someone who is there to? I know the crowds are expected to be huge so it may be impossible. Quote
just2good Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 If the sets are available on ebay, you had best believe The Brick Show will order some and have a video review up the same day they get it. If anyone likes to watch that then, you will see all the details for sure. I think they got free press copies and are waiting for the embargo for their reviews to lift... But... if you're like me and have some eBay gift cards left over, maybe settling on one early isn't so bad. 'cause I don't have to wait for no embargo. This set looks great! This set plays great! This set IS great. For kids and adults alike. I love the use of medium azure and lime green pieces, it fits the iconic look so well. And they even went the extra step with the new windshield. It's sad that Fred is only in one set, but at $30, it's a good price to include him in. And, this will undoubtedly be the most popular set. The vehicle itself is one of TV's most famous vehicles. They even went the extra mile to include a villain "vehicle," which is pretty fun to play with in terms of its articulation. The stickers are a pain to put on however, and it's sad to see no alternate head for the Zombie minifigure. Quote
VictorFrenchFries Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 How many minifigs would you say could fit inside the van? Even if they're really close together or don't stand on studs? Quote
Darth Punk Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Seems like a back seat could be created if you get rid of the kitchen. Quote
Captain Nemo Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Thanks for the review just2good! I'm loving that set--and I absolutely cannot wait to get it, and to start building Scooby Doo creations. I think that set will sell extremely well, and will by flying off the shelves. It's such an iconic vehicle and it's been done great justice by this design. The stickers may be annoying, but they add so much character to the vehicle. It is a bit sad to see how cramped the inside is, but I think with some easily remodeling it'll fit everyone, especially if the sitting down version of Scooby is used. Can't wait to get my hands on this one! Quote
just2good Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 How many minifigs would you say could fit inside the van? Even if they're really close together or don't stand on studs? Three, two sitting and one in the back. Maybe four without Scooby. Quote
KCMatze Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 That Mystery Machine is awesome! I will shurely grab one if it gets to Germany! Quote
gwigen Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Thank you for the video. The set looks great. Can wait to see the other sets Quote
Ultron Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I will find a way to fit Fred, Daphne, and Velma in the front with Scooby and Shaggy in the back. That's how it should be! Quote
kelceycoe Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 It looked like you could fit 3 in front of you moved their arms up and set them beside each other. Either way you could stuff 3 minifigs in back in the small openings if you can fit them standing up. But that's just what it looked like I don't own the set. Yes - I predict this set and the Mummy set to be the most to sell from this line. I don't expect many kids or adults will complete this collection. I can see the mansion being the third popular set. Halloween will help but even here I only see it as a one time help for the plane set because now we can have a legit headless horseman. The Mummy set will only go well because you get both Shag and zscoob for cheap and some jewels. My predictions to what I think will be top-selling sets: 1. Mystery Machine 2. Mummy museum 3. Mystery Mansion 4. Plane Mysteries 5. Haunted lighthouse My hopes aren't high for the lighthouse.. The Swamp Creature has never been that popular compared to Dracula which sells the mansion. Quote
kelceycoe Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) Also, as an EBay seller myself, almost everyone preselling these sets will lose money or only gain a very small amount. I'll break it down... Mystery Mansion, $179.99 free shipping. That's a lot for the inpatient consumer... But not for the ambitious seller, naive as well, especially if it doesn't sell before August 1. $179.99. - 89.99 $90 (estimating for simplicity puroses) $90 will now have to be used to pay shipping and fees. $20 shipping estimated. These guys' consumers are likely people outside of Cali, since out of staters don't pay their sales tax. $70 left. EBay and PayPal will likely take another $20. $50 potential profit. That's not bad but guess what, I don't see tons of peole running for that set early. And if someone has to fly back that box will require its own luggage container, so $20 or more taken from $50. The worst profit margin is lower sets. We know Mystery Machine will sell... $54.99 free shipping $54.99 - $29.99 = $25 Fees will be about $8. Another $10 to ship. $25- $18 = $7 potential profit. If these sets don't sell, they won't make their money back unless they wait until aftermarket. Add more to these if the sellers have to buy a box and packaging materials. Can't wait to get my hands on this one! Agreed. I sense an "Out of Stock, Item will ship in 30 days" status online about halfway through August 1st with a run on them in the stores as well. We will be on vacation that day, so I may have to wait a while. The stickers do seem like a necessary evil in this case, so the use of them is understandable. It should be a great seller due to the combination of being iconic and affordable. Unlike the Death Star, Helicarrier, Ninjago Temple, and other sets, it is actually affordable for most kids. Quote

tkatt Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I was at LegoLand CA this past week during a vacation. All the Scooby Doo sets were available as well as the upcoming Friends, Ninjago, and Elves. I restrained myself and only bought The Mystery Machine and the Friends tourist Kiosk. We arrived at opening and a guy was already in the main shop buying about 15 of each of the Scooby Doo sets, he basically cleared them out. I was lucky to find the Mystery Machine at the Friends shop later that day. Quote

Or he has 15 nieces and nephews. When are these sets to be expected in the Netherlands? Quote

tkatt Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Huh, I talked a LEGO employ yesterday and she said that she couldn't put them out until the 20th I was at Legoland which is owned by Merlin Entertainment, so they operated slightly differently than a Lego owned Lego store. For instance they don't give VIP points, but your VIP card will give you a 5% discount on the spot. Also some of their prices were a bit higher. They had a few other sets exclusive to Legoland as well. Quote
kelceycoe Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 The Columbus, Ohio LEGO store said call them on Tuesdays when they get their stuff. If it's not there Tuesday then try next but I was told they would be displayed early. She said they usually do it about a week or 2 early. A couple employees before hand had told me LEGO keeps a lot from them - they usually don't know anything until 2 weeks before something is released and the leaks reveal things LEGO keeps from the. Basically these retail stores want their employees to focus on the retail aspect of it rather than the satisfaction that they are surrounded by LEGO toys. (Basically, they don't hire LEGO fans, only people who focus on existing products. Disney in Orlando was a lot like that as well). I mean, could you imagine how irate LEGO would be if I took one of their employees (many who are just standing around here) to the side and talked about the feeling I had when the I got the Black Seas Barracuda for my birthday when it came out? And how colorful the pirates were and detailed and magnificent the ship was? And how the cannons shoot only for that feature to be removed here in the US the next year or so? Ultimately I know reminiscing about sets they don't have doesn't do them a bit of good in sales (after all, they're chit-chatting, not selling... or greeting you when you walk in which seems to be the norm when entering malls and called "selling") and especially if an adult hears me talking and asks where they can buy the set for their kids, then I have to tell them BrickLink for all discontinued LEGO sets. strangely Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) I really am wondering if we'll get any new minifigures from Dimensions. I'm hoping we get a few monsters out of it. Does anyone recognize this ghost? It's the Scooby Doo level based on the cell shaded graphics (Which only appear in select world). The ghost looks so familiar, but I can't quite pin point it. Mine carts, could possibly be a reference to Miner forty-niner, perhaps hinting at his inclusion. Edited July 13, 2015 by strangely Quote
