gamejutzu Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) I wish the worlds could be updated. For example, add the underworld to Ninjago, and it can only be accessed by a dragon. Edited February 21, 2016 by gamejutzu Quote
Lyichir Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 So do you have to delete worlds to add new ones or if you buy everything for the game you just get a massive game world to play in? The worlds are all just connected to a single hub world by portals. It's not like the whole game is one massive open world or anything like that! And you definitely don't need to delete any worlds in-game at any point. Quote

Koquillion Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I was watching the other day and it made me think of how awesome it would be if LEGO/TT Games copied the Toy Box idea from Disney Infinity... My biggest bugbear with LD is the lack of any real creative aspect to it, but i'd rather they did something different to DI and i'd like it to involve the physical side more than the digital. An example of how this could work is; when you buy an expansion pack, the bricks that make up the models are unlocked in a digital catalog. The more packs you buy, the more bricks become available. Then there is a creation mode in the game where you get to use the bricks from you catalog to create your own models and you write the digital instruction book as you go along. Certain bricks and pieces are assigned the special abilities (wheels=speed, for example) so that your own designed vehicle can still do rces, etc.. When you have created your model, the instructions can be uploaded and shared online or in game. OK, its simplified and would probably be a lot more complicated than I make is sound, but its not to far away from how Minecraft or LEGO Worlds works. LEGO bricks are the unique thing about LD, so why not use them for what they were originally designed for? Quote

Aside from the 3 rebuilds, there's really no customizability or creativity anywhere. It's just a Lego game with a toypad. That being said, it's better than other toy games, but it's unsatisfying. sithewok Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I just wish they would announce where the game is going from here. We've played through everything in the main game in addition to the BTTF and Who level packs (no interest in Ghostbusters or Simpsons) and done a ton in the game but have just kind of lost interest with the slow releases and general lack of information or game updates. My daughter has zero interest in playing anymore. I'll still throw it in every once in awhile to collect more gold bricks though with no achievements or such related to collecting everything, it kind of dulls the interest in finishing up the way the other Lego games push you to get 100% I will say that the level and team packs seem overpriced for what they offer. The new sales on the character packs bring them in line to being worth the money a lot more (we picked up quite a few of them through Target with the Cartwheel coupon). Quote
gamejutzu Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 (edited) I just wish they would announce where the game is going from here. They will probably release a "2.0". I hear people saying that LEGO says that won't happen, but that's a bad move from them if they don't. Where's the next piece of the story then? We need to get it somehow. And how people could be doing that is if they make some way for us to get it, whether it's a 2.0 or even just a 2. This new game may (hopefully) come with free variants of characters as well as new ones. Edited February 24, 2016 by gamejutzu Quote

Except I don't have a daughter. Upgrading to Xbox One also helped kill a bit of momentum for me. Loading up the new save game and seeing how many trivial gold bricks I'd need to get again was pretty discouraging. And while I am very much looking forward to having a Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man minifigure, there's nothing but Aquaman's Atlantis capabilities to really look forward to in-game. And whatever you need Slimer for, I guess. A reveal for new additions to the main story and main franchises would definitely help bring some more interest back to this game. I keep coming back here checking for news, but it's only over people talking about the game. That's perfectly fine, but some information would be even better. Oh well. Koquillion Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Well...there is still Midway Arcade to look forward to from the current phase of releases, and I am very much looking forward to that! Some of these retro games could be fantastic with a LEGO twist. For instance, Rampage (which is named on the LP box) could use characters with 'big transform' ability as the rampaging monsters and the idea of smashing my way through Tokyo with a giant Homer does really appeals to me. I'm guessing that many games will need characters with specific abilities, such as Joust needing 'flying', space games like defender needing a spaceship...it will probably mean that more characters will need to be purchased to access some of the video games. Ka-ching!! Quote

Ka-ching!! Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. I'm intrigued by it, but I'm really not sure what to expect. As for needing certain characters: I've already bought a metric ton, so I'm not too worried about lacking certain abilities. We'll see... Quote

This new game may (hopefully) come with free variants of characters as well as new ones. What they've specifically said is that they will not release another starter pack, meaning that the current starter pack will continue to be used and people who bought the first one will not need to replace it. It's still entirely possible that they might expand the story as paid or (ideally) free expansions. And even if that does end up costing money, it won't have to come close to the $100 buy-in for the starter pack itself. I don't know exactly when we'll get more news on the future of Lego Dimensions, but considering the last currently known set of packs comes out in May we'll presumably learn more either around that time or earlier. Quote
Koquillion Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I think that after May, we won't see anything until September and WB/Tt will spend the summer enticing us with drip feed info at the Expos and Comicons. I don't mean to sound nego about LD. I've got every pack so far and intend to get all of the pending ones, and I don't regret a single penny I've spent! The game itself is one of the most enjoyable video games I've played, but it's the LEGO that makes it. LEGO games in general wear a bit thin after a while, and if the "3 year plan" just involves releasing more franchises with the same formulaic game play, I'll probably end up bailing from LD and just start buying standard LEGO sets instead. So it's only fair LD can release paid DLC as well. After all, if they put that much effort into a new story without any money, their work would be bitter. Well, in that new story, I hope we play with a new set of 3 characters. I don't know how this will be, but I would be disappointed if Batman, Wyldstyle and Gandalf are the only story characters again. Edited February 25, 2016 by gamejutzu Quote

Your last statement, in particular, mirrors exactly how I feel. As for the rest of your post: I don't have EVERY pack, but I definitely have 2/3-3/4 of everything. Unlike you though, I guess I DO regret some of those pennies. Quote
Ashnflash Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I have a feeling that any future Dimensions content will just be an update.. I doubt that they will make a new game.. What they could do is make another pack that has maybe a main character in the story and it could include another two of those shield pieces you attach to the portal. There are still two spots for them to go which means that with the new story there could be at least two more powers. Quote
Starscream759 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 It's my birthday today and look what I've got right here. Okay I've got the Portal and Ghostbusters level packs along with the Scooby Doo team pack along with a Doctor Who DVD boxset, the Big Bang Theory lego set, Ninjago Shadow of Rohin, a Chewbacca plushie (Not featured in this picture) and DVD copies of Kindergarten Cop, Chicken Run and Mulan. Happy Birthday! Someone got you a copy of Kindergarten Cop?? That's hilarious! I hope you wanted it! Enjoy all the new Dimensions additions, too! I actually wanted to rewatch Kindergarten Cop so what better way to do that then make that a birthday present. I actually remember my opinion of that movie was that I thought was okay. Then again, an opinion can change upon a second viewing. Anyways thank you and upon mentioning the new additions I've got the game I've just been playing the Portal level pack and I'm having a blast with it. Quote
Koquillion Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 (edited) More UKcentric LD facts... "sales have now passed 1m units, reaching 1,062,630. That’s in addition to the 299,312 Starter Packs the game has sold since its launch last year..." So on average, each UK SP owner buys 3 (and a half!) expansion packs. "Warner’s game emerged as the annual champ, almost single-handedly driving the sector toward annual growth of 38.7 per cent." And happy birthday 759. Edited February 26, 2016 by Koquillion Quote

If it follows the first phase patern, the 2nd Month after the final May releases is July, after July it's September. So Sept. Isn't really that late. I think they will not release in July and will concentrate on teasing and whetting appetites for Septembers new releases, as you say, at E3 in June and SDCC July. Prior to that, we should get snippets and teases from about April onwards. If they do intend to start phase 2 in July then we should start hearing about it any day now, well in advance. Quote
