Rations you say? Though this smacks strongly of the extortion of the highwaymen whom we recently defeated, I will play along. Tell your bird friends i would offer them two potions (20HP worth) in exchange not for their neutrality, but for their aid. If they aid us their bellies would be more than filled, and they would have no need to fear going hungry in the future.

With reticence, still not pleased with idea of paying to pass, the Witch pulls two Potions and a Mead from his traveling pouches. He Drinks the Mead and offers the Two Potions up as food for the birds.

"I could provide 2 potions as well. I would be reticent about sacrificing my grand potion for this. We may need it later." Sylph stated gravely.

"I have a couple of stale oatcakes, but I don't think they'd help any. Why the hell are we even trying to bribe birds?"

"It would appear they are more intelligent than the layman knows. Our druid wishes to limit the bloodshed of those he deems innocents. I cannot say it is a path I myself would have chosen, but out of respect for my father I will honor his intentions."

"I have a couple of stale oatcakes, but I don't think they'd help any. Why the hell are we even trying to bribe birds?"

"from a tactical standpoint, it serves us well to fight fewer enemies at a time. And from a personal standpoint, I do not take pleasure in harming innocents, even when they are in my way. I have, do, and will when I must... but if some of Sylvania's children can be spared... I would prefer that." Sylph stated neutrally.

Ooc: this is just Sylph talking. I personally don't care either way. If we fight the birds, we get more loot, probably, but we could just bribe them off if everyone wants to. After all, if Sylph got his way in everything, the only one who'd be having a good time would be Sylph.

"Killing for the sake of killing should be avoided. We are not creatures of the dark. But if these animals delay our journey along the path much longer they may leave us no choice."

"What I'm wondering is why these crazed wild beasts haven't started attacking us yet, are their poor little animal hearts not in it?"

Perhaps they are trying to decide which of us would taste the best.

Remembering Warlens drunken? babblings from earlier.

I would suggest our mage. He seems to be the most seasoned.

"I disagree. If you can stomach the poison, Vind is practically dripping in flavoursome poison!

Seriously though, I'll hand over a banana IF and only if they fight with us. If not? Well..."

"I will ask." Stated Sylph.

"Birds, My companions will agree to your request on the condition that you aid us in some way. I am against this course of action, but the alternative is your untimely deaths at our hands, so the choice is yours to make." Stated Sylph reluctantly in the language of the birds. This was veering into dark territory.

"Do I not get a say in all this?" Annienal asked, sounding irritated and a little panicked. "In the end, I have final say, and if these birds aren't going to join us, then so be it. I'll toss them my banana if we can get them off our case. I don't know what to about these wolves and snakes, but if they're going to harm these two, they'll potentially harm others. I, um... say we toss these birds a banana, and deal with these other creatures. Warlen, are you going to toss your banana?"

"Think you can teach me how to do that?"

The brightly colored fowl caws contemplatively, holding council with the other birds.

<...4 potions and a banana, hrm... I always did want to try a banana... Consider the deal taken!>

The animals growl and hiss, closing in, enraged by the Birds' treachery. Would the party make any last preparations?

"They've taken our deal." Stated Sylph, dolefully. He chugged a trial brew. "This will be easy."

Warlen suddenly had a thought.

"Hey Vind, I forgot to ask you to return my tonic after we defeated Cole. Could you return- no, actually keep it for now. Who knows how long this might take."

Drawing his wand, Warlen prepared for battle.

Vindsval looks quizzically at the mage.

Perhaps you should refrain from partacing in any more of the Gulch brews Warlen, I know nothing of any vials.

OOC: Lind Never added it to my inventory. I think he missed your comment about them.

Sylph, noticing his companion had already uncorked his bottles decided to do likewise. He reached beneath his ragged cloak into a conceiled bag, retrieving two potions. He swiftly popped the corks out and set them beside the road, for the birds to help themselves. He drew an arrow from his quiver and rested it on the familiar notch of his shrapnel bow. Ready to sacrifice the lives of a few natural beings, that he might save more as a result. Peace was only attainable through violent means... and there would be no place in paradise for those who erected it.

Vidnsval sees that the birds are reticent to come to his hand.

Slyph, please tell our new allies that I am offering these to them, and that I would welcome their partnership in the coming battle. As the Wanderer fights with his Bats, I would fight with them.

"Of course. Any ally of nature's children is an ally of my own." Stated Sylph, proceeding to translate the Half-giant's wishes to the birds. His inhumanly high-pitched chirping carried feelings of comaraderie and good will.

"No need for apologies. Your corpses will nourish the next starved animals of this forest, and your blood will feed the plants." Sylph stated to the snakes in an encouraging and consoling tone.

Speaking sternly, Sylph began delineating the group's priorities.

"Ok, first things first, we need to ensure that we have all opponents covered so as to avoid free shots. Warlen, as a mage, do you think you could cast a fireball of sorts? That would reduce some of these beasts to half their health. In terms of priority, I'd say it's most important to kill the dogs first, for if we slay the serpents before the dogs, the dogs will eat their corpses and regain health. That, or we could kill the snakes fast and save the dogs for last. What say you all?"

Posted (edited)

"Um... I don't see any huge issue with that plan, Sylph. I just want to point out if any of us get knocked out the hounds will um... well, they'll try and eat us. I can take the first free hit, but I'd advise everyone to stay in the back row, um please." Annienal readies herself as she prepares to strike Viper A from the Back Row, trying to ensure the large reptile doesn't jump at her.

"Sylph, can you tell the birds to attack Blood Hound A? We should at least weaken the dogs a bit."
