"You need not help if that is what you choose, the path you choose if your own. But I would ask you not stand in the way of ours. We seek only to come to terms with what has disturbed and destroyed this area."

Annienal finds herself in the back of the party, and finds herself trying hide herself behind Vindsval. She wants to hit Throlar on the head, but she technically did want to come here first. Although, she also wanted nothing to do with the building. She leans out from behind the half giant and speaks to the strangely dressed man in as diplomatically a tone as she can muster.

"Um.... who are you?"

Vindsval steps back to a subordinate position slightly to the side and behind the knight. She is his commander on this quest, if need be he will stand in as the muscle. He stands at the ready to act on her lead.

"Um.... who are you?"

The man continues in his grim deadpan.

"I imagine you've guessed. You seem like a studious kid, albeit not a very confident one. I'm Savato."

"Savato." Stated Sylph, in a similarly grim deadpan voice. He stepped forward a pace, his tattered brown and green garb billowed sightly from the motion. He gestured widely to the deep forest.

"We seek to investigate the fallen star. What do you know of it?..."

"And who exactly does that make you? And why are you threatening us with a Gaia Bomb?"

Leaning slightly towards Sylph and speaking in a low voice he said "This fellow wouldn't happen to be a relative of yours by any chance would he?"

"We seek to investigate the fallen star. What do you know of it?..."

LtzYYpc.png

"I guess you could say I know exactly what it is, heh."

"Guys, guys. I think the real question is 'What is that glowing green thing", don't you?"

LtzYYpc.png

"It's my own custom blend of Eastern Crackleroot and sulfur imported from Terra Chima. In other words, a bomb. A very, very dangerous one."

"And who exactly does that make you? And why are you threatening us with a Gaia Bomb?"

Leaning slightly towards Sylph and speaking in a low voice he said "This fellow wouldn't happen to be a relative of yours by any chance would he?"

LtzYYpc.png

"I'm the leader of Sylvania's Thorn. And do not mock me by comparing my handiwork to that of your alchemists. Do you realize how much artificial trash they stuff into their half-assed explosives?" Savato seemed legitimately angry at this point...

"No. This is my own custom design, as I have explained. Far, far better than theirs. I didn't want to do this, but you simply didn't know when to turn back." Savato tears off the odd jewel on the bomb and casts it aside, a stream of sparks pouring out, changing to a fiery red to a venomous green as they poured out.

LtzYYpc.png

"Nice, isn't it? I don't think you'll be appreciating my work for long, though. And by the by - don't even bother trying to throw it away. Any sudden motions - like gravity taking effect, for example - force the explosion even quicker than its ticking now.

Ciao!"

With that, the figure vanishes into a cloud of smoke, leaving the party to disarm the device!

Savato's Surprise

-Above is the interior of the bomb.

-A line must be drawn between each colored node, going along with the gird.

-Every space must have a colored line over it.

-No lines may cross.

-No lines may pass over the nodes.

-When every node is paired with its counterpart via a line, the bomb is successfully defused.

-------------------------

The grim sound of the fizzling sends every into a tense state, knowing fully well that Savato's invention would be fully able to blow up their one vantage point, and fling them out of the tower. The destrcutve power of the bomb must be immense... Poe senses this, and enters the manic panic the rest of the party was struggling to suprress, fearing it may behis end.

Annienal notices the bomb on the floor and carefully walks up to it, shield in hand and begins at an attempt to fix it. Annienal starts to sweat profusely as she carefully began moving the various pieces around, biting her lip on occasion and making the odd whimper.

"Gods, please be on my side... please!..."

"Does that fool even know who he's dealing with?!" raged Sylph, surprisingly, in a deep, almost inhuman voice. Regaining his posture, Sylph looked around and at the bomb, only to find that the party leader had already discovered a solution.

"Good work, Leader." He stated in a neutral tone. His voice seemed drained. "You're quite the intelligent individual."

He reaches up and gently strokes Poes tiny feathered Head.

Be still my friend, so long as we are careful, we are safe.

Looking at the mysterious druid

Sylvania's Thorn? One of your ilk Slyph? And one using potentially devastating weapons as toys? i think we may have found the cause of the flattened forest. A test run perhaps. I had not known Root-Binders to be such extremists.

Vindsval watches with awe as Annienal solves the puzzle of the bomb with ease, and then with alarm as Warlen picks it up and begins playing with it as a newling would play with his fathers sword. Both too ignorant to know that they could be very near to losing a hand. He moves over to Warlen and places a hand firmly on his shoulder.

Warlen, now is not the time to be foolishly reckless, put that down. It would appear that Annie has disarmed it, but we know that not for sure.

"No." Stated Sylph bluntly and grimly. "No. This Suppliant is no kin of mine. I have no kin anymore.... And if his hands were those to flatten the forest... then soon his kin will not have him." He stopped then, seemingly thinking. "A true admirer of Sylvania would collaborate with us to root out the infection in this forest. This being only cares for himself..."

"Um... thank you." Annienal replied, seeming somewhat relieved but appreciative towards Sylph's remark. Still cautious, she carefully stands up again. "I've been told I've been... a bit of a book worm, I guess."

OOC: Okay, last post from for the weekend. Sylph's in charge in case a battle comes up. See you all on Sunday!

"No shame in educating yourself." Stated Sylph in a pleasant tone. A sharp dichotomy from his previous rage. He then sounded doleful. "The more you know about how this world works... the better prepared you are to tackle its challenges. Knowledge is power, Miss Anavar." Sylph looked the timid knight over. She seemed exhausted from their ordeals. "I can lead the party for you for a while if you need to de-stress." He stated sympathetically.

OoC: See ya! :sweet:

"That was not fun. Good work there Annie, I was worried for a moment."

Shall we see what there is to see from this vantage? It would seem this place was built with a near singular purpose.

Vindsval walks gingerly to the window, lowers himself to the floor, and looks through the Telescope.

The bomb's sizzling stops, and it emits a pitiful puff of smoke, successfully defused.

Warlen inspects the bomb and finds it was harmless - unfortunately, it also appeared it could not be re-armed, making it just a hollow piece of junk.

Hjrp1fV.png

<I wonder if it was the bomb that did it, though - I mean, if there was an explosion, there'd be ash and burn marks, right?>

Vindsval gazes through the telescope, and learns something exceedingly valuable - the layout of the labyrinthine forest.

B8SD4wq.png

Was this the sight that Savato tried to prevent them from seeing? Without this, they would've spent hours upon hours, maybe even a full day, shambling aimlessly through the forest... now they knew the direct path to the foot of the mountain.

Would the party now go Northward, and proceed through the forest?

"You're right." Stated Sylph to the bird. "Even as... misguided as Savato may be... he is still a disciple of Sylvania... We do not destroy forests lightly."

OoC: assume Sylph translates everything the bird says.

Excellent work. Let's head north into the deep forest.

Though out of the way, it would seem traveling here was to our benefit. Let us proceed North.

Before leaving the tower Vindsval SEARCHES the room for anything of value or use.

Warlen can find nothing else of note in the watchtower, the place apparently only designed for the Hunting Guild to use as a vantage point. Perhaps to track prey?

Upon exiting the tower, Warlen grabs the empty bomb and shoves it in his backpack. When he reaches the ground, he digs with his shovel to see if he could find ny evidence of the previous owners.

Warlen digs up some broken crossbow arrows, perhaps belonging to the hunters that once used the tower.

The party heads northwards, entering the forest. The path they saw committed to memory, the party weaves through the trees and brush, the path swerving through nature. The place was unusually silent, the hirping of birds and the rustling of animals gone. The weeds swing morosely in the breeze, the party noticing a few more of the split trees they saw originally. The only organisms they see are frenzied insects, quickly returning to their nests, and small, fleeing animals, who finally had the sense to run away. Finally, they reach the end of the forest, and hear an ominous growling. The party finally reaches the foot of the barrier mountains, and press onwards, the sound growing louder and louder. Forging through one final barrier of plant life, the party comes across the sound of the noise.

Two humans stand, their back against a wall of stone. One, judging by his attire, was the lost Gregor. The other, who was currently unidentified, was brandishing a crossbow at the animal assailants - a pack of Direwolves. One was massive, and had an odd, electric air to him. The others seemed to be just barely adults, and were severely malnourished. the huge direwolf catches the party's scent and whips his head around to see them, his eyes filled with hunger.

<Eh? The hell? You know these two?>

The biologist speaks, voice trembling.

"Uh, travelers! T-think you, could, uh, help the gentleman in the orange hat some assistance here? W-we have an issue on our hands, yes, yes..."

ZWRAyXg.png

"You could say that." says the man, loading his crossbow. "Some reinforcements would be appreciated, yeah? Name's Miller."

Sylph stepped forward, his ragged cape billowing around him like a curtain does before an opened window. Sylph raised a hand to his party, signalling them to stand down. He turned briefly to them, and said: "I think the lead-wolf has mistaken me for Savato."

"Direwolves!" Spoke Sylph in a commanding voice in the language of the forest beasts "I, Savato, do indeed know these humans. I need them alive for now. They are an integral part of my plans... but when I am finished with them, they are yours to devour."
