Herky Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Won't spoil it, but not surprised at some decisions...was surprised at the one they chose though. Quote
Nacho Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I was looking forward to the Jurassic Park set but not really bothered about the one they've picked. Quote
CM4Sci Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 YES! I wanted this the minute we first heard about it. Now hat we've heard the results for this review, where are the last 3 sets?! It's been forever since we heard about any of them. I'm gettin pretty annoyed. Quote
Herky Posted May 28, 2015 Author Posted May 28, 2015 Wasn't Big Bang Theory supposed to come out? I don't even remember what the other 2 were... Quote
Elrond Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Meh, an easy pass. It's a nice clever build but really not something I want to own as a LEGO set. Too bad for the JP and LOTR ideas (although I suppose the Minas Tirith set was probably too big to have a chance). Oh well, more money I will be spending on other themes I guess. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Wasn't Big Bang Theory supposed to come out? I don't even remember what the other 2 were... It is indeed supposed to come out, but they may be waiting for San Diego Comic-Con to unveil it and/or the two subsequent sets, which are the Doctor Who and WALL*E sets. I'm very happy with this selection, and offer congratulations to the builder, who's a member here (how many posts before we start openly discussing what project it is?). I would have liked to have seen some of the other projects chosen as well, but honestly they were mostly long shots just on size alone, never mind licensing issues or similarity to sets LEGO just released. Quote
K-Nut Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I too am pleased with this selection. A Goonies set or Mina's Tirith would have been nice, but this is definitely unique and should be fun to build. Quote
dr_spock Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I think their choice is pretty good under the play value category versus display set. Thre is also another thread on this in the embassy forum -> http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=94814&st=775 Quote
Herky Posted May 28, 2015 Author Posted May 28, 2015 Right, I almost posted this there, but this is a specific thread for this round of selections only, each round used to have its own thread as well so see nothing wrong with a separate thread, but if the admins combine, so be it...and just to say, the maze is going to be produced. I think that is a good set based on what can happen with a creative Lego build, but I felt the piano was good as well, the licensed ideas were excellent, but feel the licenses would likely be what would cross those off the list, although JP is already there, so who knows. As a modular fan, I really liked the museum. SDCC is coming up so let's hope they do announce the release dates of BBT, Dr Who and Wall*E then Quote
MAB Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 The designer of the piano decided to commercialise it through Bricklink cuusoo, so it is no surprise Lego disqualified it. Quote
Super Goblin Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 This is a let down. Seems like they took the easy way with this review. This is the first Ideas set I have zero interest in. Quote
TeufelHund Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 So now I can build something that I had no interest in playing with as a kid...way to go Lego. I would have gone for Minis Tirith or the Museum in a flash - but this has absolutely no interest for me. Quote
Deathleech Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 (edited) Didn't Lego discontinue their game division due to poor sales? Yet they picked the marble game as their Ideas set this period? I know the project is not exactly the same, but meh. It seems like such a waste. I can't say I am surprised though. Most of the sets were pretty much not going to pass based on size alone. Size automatically knocked like half the potential projects off the list right off the bat. The next round of reviews doesn't look to be much different. Edited May 29, 2015 by Deathleech Quote
Colossus Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 (edited) I'm very disappointed that the modular History Museum wasn't picked. It's the only modular that I've been interested in since the Palace Cinema. The last 2 modulars look like glorified City sets to me, and the museum gave me hope that maybe Lego would return the modulars to what they once were. Edited May 29, 2015 by Colossus Quote
ekobor Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I am really happy for the maze- I loved those when I was younger, and I like the idea of making different tops for it... But I wish other sets had been picked, too... The History Museum and the piano! I wish they were still being considered, instead of yet another jet/plane/thing... Quote
Steve309 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 the Jurassic Park Gate is a definite "WTF?!"... come on, it's one of the fastest sets to 10K ever, it's been in demand for TWENTY YEARS ever since the first movie. Only thing I can think of. Is it's a future set with Jurassic world line. And will be released along side the DVD release Quote
