Wait, the summer sets don't come out June 1st?!? I guess I'll need to find something else to get the fountain... :hmpf_bad:

Yeah, I see you're in the USA. We're all disappointed, two years in a row. Feels like the Academy Awards... :hmpf_bad:

It used to be that DC/Marvel came out in June and the summer wave of Star Wars would be in August. But now that there's always a "Force Friday" wave in September, they swapped Star Wars and Super Heroes as to have some more space between the two Star Wars waves. At least that's what I've gathered over the past two years. Honestly as someone who frequents both themes, I couldn't care less.

Though the new Spidey's logo on the front may not be accurate, all other parts of him are (especially the back) and he looks FANTASTIC.

I've been taking another look at the summer wave, and I have the following thoughts:

The Ghost Rider set has been amazing from day one. The dual-molded head on GR is weird, but I'll get used to it,

I used to think that the bridge looked meh, but the figures were great. I am starting the like the bridge more and more as I see it in promotional material. It looks pretty nice, packed with easter eggs, and would adds nicely to my Marvel NYC skyline (with Avengers Tower and Daily Bugle Communications tower). If I can afford it, or find a big discount, this is a set for consideration.

The Doc Ock set looks like a mess to me. The mech is very big and very cartoonish (too much so even for the USM cartoon!), and doesn't mesh with the rest of the sets on my shelf. The minifigures are ok, but I don't need a specific cop, or a Dock Ock variant. The only real appeal is White Tiger (finally!) and Vulture (who is only ok, but may be in the next movie?), so I am seriously thinking about skipping it and just Bricklinking those two figs.

Am I wrong here? Can someone convince me of something great I missed in the mech set? And I really am open to convincing, because as I said I wanted to skip the bridge initially, but seeing all the enthusiasm and details people pointed out in this forum has increased my esteem for that set.

The one thing that came closest was a promo image of the Bridge Battle and the Mech sets together in an epic battle between the Web Warriors and the Sinister Six, but I can't find that picture at the moment.

Technically, the poster displayed the Sinister Five

Yeah, I noted that at the time too, but I thought I would give them credit for coming close. That's also NOT the lineup of any team you could call the Web Warriors.

Can you find the poster?

It's not only a cop, the good man is also the father of Gwen Stacy.

Anyway i think the mech set is hilarious. The mech is weird in a good way and so is the surfwebboard. The set has the best version of Doc Ock (well, you should use the other arms on him of course), an awesome vulture and white tiger is awesome too.

Thaaaat's the one! Pretty sweet!

I was trying to say it is a "specific" cop, instead of a "generic cop" since I know it is Cap'n Stacy. But honesty, I never knew him as a character until the ASM movie, and that film is not my favorite.

The new Doc Ock set is one of the first Marvel sets I'm legitimately thinking on skipping. It really is a mess.

Thanks to both for the opinions about the set. White Tiger is a must for me, and Vulture is good too. I like lab coat Doc a bit better, maybe because I am partial to the SM2 movie.

You think so? I actually quite like it. The mech is really nice looking and just seems fun, I love the concept. The only disappointment is Captain Stacy. I don't like Doc Brown's face for him and the hair isn't really accurate either if you look at his comic appearance. I'm probably going to find him a face that's not double sided and give him the newer police hat mold.

Not into the spiderman sets cause I'm not the biggest fan of the character (which changed now because of civil war), I#m more eager to get my hands on the next CW-Set. Still need Vision as minifig. And Antman, but that is another case... :-(

They would probably look good on the USM spidey. The MCU one, not so much since it's a different blue and he has arm printing.

I had to double-check the CMF images. I don't get the love for the Arctic Photographer's arms for Spidey. Spidey has a stripe of red running down the outside of the arm, from shoulder to glove. Without that, it just looks weird. MCU Spidey has close-to-perfect arm printing, but the shade of blue is too dark for the classic fig. But hey, don't let me stop you guys from making that switch!

On a separate note, I just got my DC Character Encyclopedia (for that sweet, sweet Pirate Batman), and it led me to wonder: will they ever release a Marvel Character Encyclopedia? I've seen Star Wars, Ninjago, Chima (I think), and now DC. Anybody know whether this is out of the realm of possibility for some wacky reason, or what? Just curious...

The Arctic photographer's arms, resemble the look ok spiderman in the Ultimate Spiderman tv show, plus more red, and other reasons
