"I thought it was an unspoken rule that priests of Helvetia didn't drink... Then again, I left the faith for four centuries, and we've only been getting better at brewing. You used to just leave grapes on the windowsill for a month and mix it with water...

Shall we go join Vindsval?"

Where will I find Amber Makepeace?

"Hopefully the cards will help guide you in finding Miss Makepeace. Keep your mind on that one question while I read your tarot."

Irisa finishes shuffling the deck as she begins laying the cards, a calm breeze blowing behind Vinds back. He notices a twinkle of mischief in Irisa's eyes as lays the the top three cards face down in a row on the table.

14089189819_4a8477d326_o.jpg

"Fate's will show me your past, present, and future. These cards reflect what has, what is, and what has yet to transpire in relation to Amber Makepeace and your search for her.

The first card is the past, and it will refer to strifes that have occurred to you. The card that has been drawn is..."

THE PAST

20473659468_bb85f8d56a_o.jpg

"The Seven of Pentacles. He represents a feeling of dissatisfaction with the results of a project you've completed, either through work or in your own life. You've planted the seeds of fruit trees, but it did not bear the fruit quite to your satisfaction. Despite these feelings, you're glad the project is over. You were grateful that you had time to relax, but you still feel there was more to be done. In spite of this, you're thankful for much. You created something that had a life of its own, and it's continued to grow.

Sometimes in life, we simply need to step back and let it go, and let our perfectionism slide."

14089189819_4a8477d326_o.jpg

"We now move onto the present. This is the card that helps explain why you're here, and what next steps to take. The card is... most interesting...

THE PRESENT

20473659128_6a14a90042_o.jpg

"The Wheel of Fortune is the eleventh card in the Major Arcana, but given the number ten. It spins at the midway point of the Major Arcana, indicating it as a pivotal turning point. You could call it a metaphor for Fate, Karma, or perhaps even Destiny. The creatures surrounding the card's edges represent the elements of air, water, fire, and earth, just as the cups, pentacles, arrows, and wands do. The snake on the wheel could be represented as evil, but also a symbol of transformation. The jackal headed man is a symbol of a creature who guards the underworld. The sphinx here represents resurrection. Together, they form the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Only when you step back do you see greater patterns- the entirety of the Wheel in motion.

A situation in your life is coming to a close, as well as new opportunities to replace them. Major life decisions and milestones are approaching, while others are coming to, or have come to an end. Things you set in motion are beginning to bear there fruit. Seeds you plant now will be sprouting when the wheel comes full circle once more. When you step back and examine the cause and effect of a present situation, you can adjust your actions accordingly to produce a better outcome."

14089189819_4a8477d326_o.jpg

"Now we come to the final card, the future. This is a look into what lies ahead of you and how to best navigate it. Your card is..." As Irisa flips the card over she smiles. "Old friend... we meet again..."

THE FUTURE

20668367241_078b3f2b54_o.jpg

"Ah, Death. The fourteenth card in the Major Arcana, but given the number thirteen for reason that should be obvious, but wrongfully so. Most would regard both Death and the number thirteen with fear and anxiety, but that is not the case, for neither are unlucky or cursed, for it is merely a matter of perspective. An armoured skeletal figure rides a pure white horse, symbolizing purity of blood, soul and spirituality. Death passes people from all walks of life, and each is affected in their own way that corresponds to their view point. The King, who believed in his existence focused primarily on his wealth, his status, and his title, lays low in the dirt. The Priest, full of faith in his reward of an afterlife, faces Death head on. The young woman turns away out of fear and grief, but kneels compliantly, albeit regretfully. The young boy, completely innocent and blissfully ignorant, offers Death the beauty of freshly picked flowers, and although they were once beautiful, they are now dead. Note the flower on Death's banner. Death does not symbolize death, but change. If we view death in the way the child does, it is less traumatic and more transformative. It is a positive passage, as indicated by the rising sun in distance.

Death indicates change, something not everyone can cope with. In it's positive form, Death is a means to start over, a second chance at a relationship, or a time of major growth. In a negative light, Death represents the unexpected, and the deep rooted fears of the unknown. If you accept change as it comes and grow from it, you can release that which has gone before and get on with what has yet to transpire. A discovery, an opportunity, or a new cycle await you. Rather than resisting out of habit, remember to embrace these changes, and your worries will fade away."

Irisa looks over the spread of cards, content with the outcome, and nods.

14089189819_4a8477d326_o.jpg

"I hope this helps clarify and shed light on your search. Do you have any questions about the cards that lay in front of you?"

---

"That does sound complicated, and somewhat disturbing. What might your name be?"

20008388093_1bb3f4dfed_o.jpg

"Glasha. Yourself?

OOC: did you mean a real world day or an in game day?

In game.

"It'd be appreciated, gentleman. Don't be a stranger."

"I thought it was an unspoken rule that priests of Helvetia didn't drink... Then again, I left the faith for four centuries, and we've only been getting better at brewing. You used to just leave grapes on the windowsill for a month and mix it with water...

"Hey, I can't complain. So long as they're coming to my saloon, I got no qualms." Stine chuckles to himself as he continues to pour Geoffrey another stiff drink.

Vindsval stares quietly at the cards. His hand slips to the pouch where his rune sticks lie.

I must admit that your divination is strange to me. I am familiar with the casting of runes, but know nothing of these Arcana of which you speak. Their riddles are more twisted than that of the seers of my homeland. The card of my past falls well within my journey with the Hall. My first quest in their employee left a young boy with neither mother nor father. The decisions which brought us to that haunt me still. The loss of an arm to save the greater good is a daily reminder of another failing.

He looks at the card of the present.

Here again I can read only a reference to my choice to follow the Witchery way, rather than the path of my father. The battle with the sniper s the first time I have truly seen its power in action. Combined with the symbol of the future, Could it also say that I will again have an opportunity for change in some great event yet to come?

He rubs a giant green hand over his bald pate.

In these cards I see things that I could connect to my personal experiences since joining the Hall. But I must admit, that I see little that could help me in my search for Amber Makepeace. How do you interpret them in that regard?

"The reading of tarot is not common among the orcish races. Although there are many great seers among they're kind, many of their rituals lack the complexity and nuances that the tarot cards offer." Irisa contemplates in a curious and nostalgic tone.

Change is quite possibly coming, Vindsval, although for better or worse, I cannot tell. Merely that when you meet Amber Makepeace, something about you will change, whether it be your profession, your outlook, a relationship, something will change in you.

The cards are rarely ever clear in their description... but the Wheel of Fortune is about the cycle of all things. Life, death, rebirth. We all live, we all die, we all return in some small way... some less so than others. The seeds you've planted before are sprouting... you will meet Amber Makepeace... and when you do, the event will affect you in some way, as the Death card states, and you can either embrace said change, or allow to fester and lead you to ruin."

Vindsval rubs his jaw as Irisa gives her interpretation of the cards. It would seem that different eyes interpret different meanings when one is attuned to their message.

I walk the path that is laid before me and opened to me by the Will of the Wanderer. If finding the Woman Makepeace will cause a change in me I will welcome it as any other. Though this is all what will happen when I find her, not information to help me find her. Though it does seem to imply she will be found if we continue to search. Is there no inkling of where I might look to find her?

Throlar was distracted from his conversation with the Vamporc by the sight of a glowing blue shield popping out of thin air with a note saying 'Congratulations'. attached to it.

"Ah, sorry, magical lottery thingy." He said, putting the shield away for future use.

"I'm sorry Vindsval... all I can tell you is that she is more than likely close, considering the Wheel symbolizes incoming change."

Just then Sorrow and Althior manage to squeeze into the room.

"Welcome to the house of Irisa my friends, I have just finished having my fortune told. Irisa these are two of my three traveling companions, Sorrow and Althior. They also seek the location of Amber Makepeace. "

Vindsval Catches a glimpse of the sky through the partially open door.

"And we were given a short period to accomplish this." He nods his head gratefully to the woman. "You have given me much to ponder dear lady. If the sands of time were not pressing so tightly I would stay and ask your more, there is much of my current path that troubles and eludes me. Before I leave, is there anything that I can do to repay your kindness and insight? I know a fee has been exchanged, but gold is not always all one needs. Or do you perhaps have any arcane items you could part with to aid me in my journey down the path?

"Good, err, do you mind if I ask you a rather odd question? Have you seen a pale woman in black and red? Or something that looks like a living shadow?"

"Err. Hello." I say, nodding to Vindsval.

"I'm Sorrow, and you are...? By the looks of things I would say you deal with the occult?"

"Vindsval is indeed correct, my name is Irisa, and I am a seer. Are you two interested in getting your fortune told?

Arcane items? I might be willing to part with a scroll... if you could help me with something." Irisa stands up and moves her crystal ball back to the table, setting it down gently. "See, my crystal ball has been experiencing some... er, irregularities lately. It keeps showing irregular visions involving the past, and only the past. I believe something has manifested inside it, but I don't know what. If you'd be willing to peer into it and see what's the matter, I may let go of one of my scrolls." Irisa taps her bandaged fingers on the wood of her table, waiting for a reply.

"I did overhear someone talk about something weird they saw... oh, who was it... shoot, all I remember was that it was by the Last Chance store. I hope that helps."

I consider the offer presented to me for a moment - not the crystal ball offer, I was going to help for sure, it was what hereos do... But getting my fortune told? Would I ask something pragmatic? Or would I "indulge" myself?

"I would be willing to help, yes. Are you still able to tell fortunes? If so...

...This is rather macabre, but I think it's coming soon. What will the circumstances of my death be?"

Althior stands in the corner, remaining silent. Moments later, he leans in to Sorrow. "Let's not forget our main objective, shall we?"

Althior stands in the corner, remaining silent. Moments later, he leans in to Sorrow. "Let's not forget our main objective, shall we?"

"Do you propose I change my question?"

I chuckle ruefully.

"Hey, for all we know, I could die here. I wouldn't feel too bad about that. I've done all I needed to. I'd feel worse for you, since you'd be the one delivering the news to Karie."

Posted

Althior chuckles until a solemn expression lands upon his face. "Do not make me tell Karie about that. Ask your question, but then I propose we meet up with the dwarf. Knowing him, he'll be heading back to the store,"

"And you're not just saying that because you want to go shopping?"

Posted (edited)

"For once, Finnegan, you raise a fair point...

And I will do my best to make sure you don't have to, Althior. Death isn't... something you can pen into your agenda yet, though.

And I still want to meet Karie's newborn. Chances are I'll be gone and forgotten, and her father will be the grandfather-figure in her life, but... Family matters. You don't talk about yours much, Althior - neither do you, Vindsval. You must have some?"

"Gone," Althior says, nearly cutting Sorrow off. "They're gone. You may have a family to get back to, but I... I don't. They don't matter to me, not anymore..."

Althior stands, silently, staring at the ground. He turns on his heels after a moment. "Meet me back at the store when you're done. Come along, Finnegan," Althior makes his way to Last Chance.

Finnegan turns to Sorrow. "I believe you struck a nerve,"

Finnegan scowls. "And some don't... He's a lot more feeling than you think. He's not like you or me. He's still human; don't forget that. Everyone else already has..."
