Kintobor Posted February 12, 2016 Author Posted February 12, 2016 "I gave you fair warning, Amber. And I do believe Silvia was the one who turned Lyudmilla against us, so... You'll have to excuse my lack of sympathy. Well, as you've probably deduced, we're not huge fans of you committing a mass murder. I think you're ill, Amber. You're not putting the pieces together. You don't understand what you're doing is wrong. And you don't understand we're here to make things right. Gentlemen? I think we might have similar ideas right now?" "Oh, here we go again with the mass murder bit." Amber rolls her eyes and crossly straightens herself in her seat. "Eubric is in shambles. It's going to topple over at any minute. I'm going there to fix it. I'm not going there to blow it up, or unleash a swath of demons, or erect my own house to enter a feeble and ultimately childish power gambit. I'm going to Eubric Freeport to ensure that once everyone is undead that there will be no reason for there to be an issue of particular races being shunned upon. The original undead will be able to freely mingle. As a Heroican, you seem to be unaware of the issue surrounding the undead. We're second class citizens. We're considered husks, devoid of life. Helvetia has shown me that I can create a utopia so long as her cold embrace touches every citizen of Eubric. Even my father." Vindsval speaks softly to Sorrow and the others. "I believe she has gone quite mad in her search for absolute power. We cannot allow her to complete this ritual." He then addresses Amber You must know that I, we, cannot allow you to destroy or even alter an entire city to suit your own designs. Is there no way we can convince you to take another pat?" "What say you Miss Makepeace, will our Paths continue? Or will one or more of them end here, in this dank hole?" "The Wanderer has deceived you, Vindy. There is only one path, and that path is to Eubric becoming a necropolis. As a greenskin, has the city not prosecuted you? Do you not feel that the city, one founded on orc slavery, needs referendum?" Amber grins hollowly. "I intend to see this through to the end, Vindsval. Silivia would've wanted it. These residents here had a chance to see something better, and you four blew it for them." "Oh please, Sillvia chose to fight us, it's not like we stabbed her in the back with a poisoned dagger while she was sleeping or anything like that, I admit that having her here as a mindless undead isn't exactly nice, but Sorrow doesn't really have any control over who he raises, it's completely random. And you're a fine one to talk anyway, what about you possessing the countess? Or going farther back, how about the paladins you raised as mindless undead? Admittedly most of them were probably racist bastards in life, but I doubt they deserved mindless slavery. Or these other ghouls here?" he pointed at the rotting undead, "These were yours a while ago, and they were just as empty then as they are now! These were people Amber, and you or Sillvia just turned them into this... this parody of life, no, sorry, this parody of undeath. If you're going to try to guilt trip us at least have the decency to not be a hypocrite about it!" "I think you're forgetting something about my undead and Silvia's corpse. The paladins I raised had been dead for over two hundred years. The ghouls I raised were double that age. The putrid zombies were found in some stinky old bog outside of town and brought in under the veil of night. They've been forgotten about. They've been left to rot, their brains turned to goo. You don't understand decomposition, do you? Silvia made her intent clear when she ran. Do heroes kill people who flee, Throlar? Do they?" Amber slammed her fist on the table, glaring at Throlar. "I don't think they do." "Let me get this straight, you are planning to use a spell that has the potential to backfire explosively to turn one of the most chaotic, disorganized, badly run, corrupt, and economically powerful cities in the entire world, a city that is, I may add, currently led by six houses and a crime ring who are all fighting each other like cats and dogs over utterly pointless feuds, is at the center of all trade on the Crystalline Sea, is the center of operations for the paladin order, and has over a fifth of it's population walled off from the rest of the city, into a necropolis? And you also believe that this will not only somehow solve all of the city's problems, but that (presumably) you will become the leader of this new necropolis and that everything will end with that?" "Okay, now you're making assumptions. I won't become the ruler of the city. I have no standing within the Church of Helvetia, but I do have many individuals within various churches who agree with my sentiment. They will among themselves decide who will rule the new Eubric. Eubric isn't being chosen for any old reason. It's centralized. It already has a population of undead. It has a way to amplify the spell. Granted, the spell could explode, but why do you think we're not rushing this? Every precaution is being made to ensure the spell works properly. You've seen it in action Throlar. It resurrected that dragon. Would've been a wonderful thing to have around, but of course you had to go and destroy it..." "Ehehehe. Eheheheeheeheeheehahahahaha-" He took a deep breath, seeming to calm for a second, before flinging his head back and shouting at the top of his voice; "AMBER MAKEPEACE IS AN IMBECILE!" He took another shuddering breath, before lowering his head again. "Look, even if you manage to pull off the whole 'turn the city into a necropolis' thing how do you think everyone will react to it? You said yourself that there's a chance of some of them going insane, and the one who don't aren't likely to take too kindly to being turned into undead, the aforementioned paladin order especially. And what on earth makes you think that poverty or racism will just vanish? To paraphrase my good enemy Eric 'an undead orc is still an orc'. Undeath isn't some great unifying factor. And what about everyone else? How do you think the other nations of the world will react? Do you think they'll look at Eubric and say 'oh look, everybody there has been turned into undead by some crazy necromancer, cool! Let's act as if nothing has really changed at all and treat them as people and equals!' because they won't you know. Nor will they see you as some friendly advocate for undead equality. They'll see another necromancer with dreams of of world conquest, and to be honest, I've met you in person and I wouldn't be surprised if you were planning to take over the world. They will see the center of trade of half the world attacked, to the nations of the Crystalline Sea, no, the entire world, this will be no less than an act of war. Think of it, every kingdom and empire and principality and dukedom in Olegaia, coming for you. There is no way in hell you could stand against them. And once they're finished with you they'll suddenly realize that Eubric is now pretty much up for grabs and start fighting each other for it. After all, who wouldn't want Eubric? It's so placed that anyone who holds it pretty much controls all trade in the Crystaline Sea. And once all that's over, what will be the net result? Undead will be even more despised than they are now, the Free Islands will be a wartorn wreck, and no matter who comes out on top the balance of power will be irrevocably shattered." "By the by, whose head is that on the table?" Amber yawns, looking uninterested in Throlar's points. She gives him a thumbs up after he's finished speaking. "Gotcha. All excellent points. Bravo. Ten out of ten. I think big, Throlar, but I don't like to push myself. I'm creating a place so that the undead of the world have a haven to go to, a light in the storm. I'm also going to completely ensure that Eubric doesn't tumble in on itself by uniting its population with a commonality: undeath." Amber looks to the severed head on the table, pulling a large apple out of its mouth. "Oh, her? This is Nazguile. I found her rotting corpse on the road here in Babeleth." Amber picks up the head and turns it to see Throlar, holding it by the hair. "You? I've... seen you before..." "I found her on the side of the Blood Brick Road, her corpse rotting away. I managed to salvage her head, and I've been wanting to find her a body to transfuse her head onto. Kind of hard to, though, you know?" Quote

At Amber's call a gruff and irritable looking undead emerges from the passage, holding a large sceptre. His large hat covers head and shadows his face, although an eyepatch is visible. "You called?" Jarret was out of earshot, but the party can hear a loud ruckus coming from out of eyeshot. A loud and reoccurring thumping noise soon echoes out of the passageway. "I trust you to track down that witch, Throlar." "If that's how you want to proceed, Sorrow, then let us begin." Amber drops her smoke bomb, it's vaporous cloud engulfing the room. As the smoke recedes, a layer of dust billows out of the passageway. Amber is gone. A heckling voice can be heard from within, clearly Jarret. "Why are you so big? Why couldn't you be two feet smaller!" A large, hulking green humanoid ruptures through the passageway, collapsing pillars and sending debris flying everywhere. "GRAAAH!! PUNY WORMS!!!" He slams his enormous great sword on the ground, glaring at the party. The green-skinned behemoth glares at the party, locking eyes with Throlar. He says nothing but screams in rage. Jarret and a fenerian woman, her skin beginning to look rotten and decay, follows. "Detreahd, do your duty to your mistress and ensure her escape." "Of course, sir." The Fenarian's voice is hollow and monotonous. She unsheathes her longsword and readies her stance. Jarret turns back to the party, aiming his sceptre at them. K-Nut Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I equipped my Lieutenant's Helm in place of my Tin Helmet a few pages ago. "Don't have to tell me twice," Althior attempts to flee the battle, using his feather of flight if he needs to. Quote

Duvors Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 (Throlar retrieved his had axe after the last time he used it, so it should still be in his inventory, also he should be at 31 health and blessed due to the soma and potion he took earlier, I believe I mentioned that before.) Throlar simply stood aghast at what he saw before him, he seemed in shock. This, to him, simply could not be. After a few seconds his features hardened, becoming as cold and expressionless as stone. "Make your escape good Dwarf. You and Althior, be sure to give the maniac our regards." "Very well." said Throlar, "You two, I know I don't have any authority to ask this, but I would take it as a favor if you do not touch those two or their equipment until I return. Do what you want to Jarret. In fact, turn him into paste."Throlar uses his Feather of Flight. Quote
Asphalt Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Vindsval looks at the dwarf curiously, trying to decide if it is sentiment, or greed that causes him to demand they stay their hand against these new enemies. Perhaps if you are quick all those who stand before you will stand still upon your return. But I swear no Oath Throlar. NOW RUN. Quote

The battle begins as Althior and Throlar rush out of the room, following amber, just the distraction needed for Sorrow to toss a Phoenix Essence on Orokai. Vindsval isn't as lucky, as Dethraed pounces on him, swiftly slicing his arm multiple times. Sorrow and Vindsval feel their purses lighten as the undead assassin runs off. You two really are determined. What do you want?" Amber's accompaniment draw their weapons. "Let's keep this short. You want me dead. I don't really want any part of that. Yadda, yadda.
