Pulp Detective Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Apparently the next Indy movie won't see the light of day for a very long time.Seems Disney is putting all its efforts to Star Wars right now.Cmon Lego atleast give us new Adventures sets.
Blondie-Wan Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 There has in fact already been one Adventurers / Indy-style theme since the Indy line ended, actually - Pharaohs Quest, which seems to be connected to Adventurers and could be considered an extension of it in all but name.
Actor Builder Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I don't think Pharaoh's Quest was related to Adventurers. All the Adventurers themes revolved quite a lot around good ol' Johnny Thunder. Doubtless, Pharaoh's Quest was similar, and in my opinion, better than many of the Adventurers sets. I don't think I'm willing to say it was "related" though. Adventurers (Orient Expedition especially) has a special nostalgic spot in my heart. I think it was more of a remake than a spinoff, to use media terms.
Blondie-Wan Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 But besides being essentially thematically identical to the original Egypt-based Adventurers subtheme, the character names clearly appear to be at the very least a nod to those of the earlier characters.
Pulp Detective Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) Ah yes Pharaoh's Quest....brings back memories.Wish I bought that damn pyramid set back then. It's been four years since then, hopefully Lego will give something similar this summer or next year. Blondie-Wan Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I am so kicking myself for not getting the Scorpion Pyramid. I could have picked it up at Target when it was clearanced for half off, but I was hurting for money and I thought I'd take a chance it would get clearanced even further - nope! It's the only boxed set I missed in the theme (I also missed out on the blister-packed "battle pack", but got all the boxed sets smaller than the pyramid). Oh, well. ________________ That Grail Temple LEGO Ideas project I mentioned earlier is now just 83 votes from a thousand (and the extension that comes with it), but with only five left now, I doubt it'll make it. I hope I'm wrong, though...
Tariq j Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Maybe if it doesn't make it, at least it will get Lego's attention, so hopefully they can consider rebooting the line in some way.
Actor Builder Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I also wish I had gotten the Pyramid set, but not near as much as I wish I had gotten The Temple of Doom.
Pulp Detective Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) The Temple of Doom???Back then when it was released I wanted it as much I wanted any other Indy set.But by looking it now it seems so empty and lacking.I still think that the Temple Escape is one of the best sets of the line if not the best. Edited September 25, 2015 by LOTR34
Blondie-Wan Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I consider both of them and all the other Indy sets essential (but then, I would; I mean, just look at my avatar).
Actor Builder Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I didn't buy it because it looked empty and lacking. Now though, having bought every single other Indy set, I am kicking myself for not buying it, at least for Mola Ram. I think the best set construction-wise was 7198 Fighter Plane Attack. The "Wings Fall Off" Play function is just so perfect.
Tariq j Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Minifigures aside, I really liked the way Lego designed the Temple Of Doom set, they made clever mechanisms like the rock shoot and wood plank along the way and they didn't make the track ridiculously long and overcomplicated but at the same time they didn't make it too short either, I think it was a good set. Just my thoughts though.
Blondie-Wan Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 The Grail Temple project on LEGO Ideas just hit the 1000 mark a few minutes ago, and has earned some additional time! Now for the really hard part...
Actor Builder Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Awesome! Thanks for the update, Blondie-Wan.
milojthatch Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 There's actually a lot of precedent, though, even (especially?) with licensed themes. Harry Potter had a hiatus in new releases of about 2 1/2 or 3 years during the timeframe the movies were being released, getting a single set in 2007 and then returning with a whole bunch of stuff in 2010 / 2011. The Jurassic Park franchise first appeared in LEGO with Jurassic Park III in the LEGO Studios line in the early 2000s, and then reappeared with Jurassic World this year. Similarly, they did Spider-Man sets (originally as more Studios sets, then as their own theme) for the first couple Raimi / Maguire movies from 2002 to 2004, then brought back Spidey along with the rest of the Marvel Universe for the Super Heroes line that began in 2012 and is continuing into the foreseeable future. They've even visited and, years later, revisited various Classic Disney characters (Mickey Mouse & friends, Winnie the Pooh) more than once. They've also gone back to classic original LEGO themes a number of times, sometimes with new spins and such. Pharaoh's Quest is pretty much an extension of Adventurers. They've had multiple Space Police lines. And so on. I think there's an excellent chance LEGO will do more Indiana Jones sets (and Pirates of the Caribbean, and perhaps Toy Story) when those franchises' next big-screen installments come. No guarantee, but considering how extensive and agreeable TLG's partnerships with Disney in general and Lucasfilm in particular seem to be, it just looks very likely. I just hope that the classic Indy is continued a little more before the inevitable reboot (both in the franchise itself and in the LEGO theme). I fully expect there will be more PotC and Indy sets down the line. However I agree with many here who say it won't happen until the next installment of each franchise. I really see both as just a matter of time though.
Super Goblin Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I just want a new fedora with hair mold piece.
Bricky Dee Williams Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Disney has confirmed their intent to make a fifth Indiana Jones movie! This is hot off the press, but confirmed! We now definitely have potential in the coming years for more Indiana Jones sets, or even better, a rebooted theme! Read for tourselves! http://news.yahoo.com/indiana-jones-5-confirmed-by-disney-110905006.html

Bricky Dee Williams Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) Now if Chris Pratt appears as another long-lost son of Indiana Jones', there can be a fourth minifigure of Chris Pratt. Huge fan off Chris Pratt's acting since Parks & Rec. I heard a while ago (possibly a rumor) that'd he could be the new Indy in the movie. Edited January 1, 2016 by Aegis2000
BlueberryWaffles Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 This is the first I'm hearing of new Indy. I'm slightly nervous but knowing how they handled Star Wars I think it'll be fine. Lego wise, hopefully new Indy sets would mean and Indy D2C. Grail Temple would be great for that. Maybe the circus train from the beginning of Last Crusade.
x105Black Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Huge fan off Chris Pratt's acting since Parks & Rec. I heard a while ago (possibly a rumor) that'd he could be the new Indy in the movie. I'm also a huge fan of Chris Pratt since Parks & Rec. I'm happily surprised his career has gone as well as it has. According to the reports I've read, Harrison Ford will return as Indiana Jones. He is eager to return to the part (probably because he will get another huge chunk of money like he did for Star Wars). I could see the next Indy going somewhat like Star Wars, where he is in it to pass the torch to a new character. I don't think Pratt will play Indy, but maybe another character that will spin off the franchise in the same universe.
milojthatch Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 The reports say we might even get the next Indiana Jones film in 2018. That's just a few years away. Not very long at all actually.

Not very long at all actually. The thing I question is the overall probability. The last Indy movie was a huge let down to many fans, and I wonder how Disney wil market it if it is indeed under their control. (Unlike how The Force Awakens is credited under Lucasfilm) I think we would see Lego sets, but thats also a big year for Disney marketing with Star Wars Anthology films and Avengers Infinity War: Part I. The reboot of the franchise (or fifth continuation installment) could get somewhat lost in marketing amongst the other films, which will most likely be picked up by Lego. We'll have to wait to find out in the coming years how Disney goes about doing this. Edited January 1, 2016 by Aegis2000

I think they'll introduce Chris Pratt as another long-lost son and Indiana Jones will decide to pass on his name as a title, possibly with him either dying of old age or to sacrifice himself for his newly-discovered son.
