Thanks legozebra.

That sounds VERY impressive! No mention of Ecto-1 or Ecto-1A. Maybe Lego will re-release it together with this set?

Or just keep it around - it's still available now, after all, having not been discontinued yet.

I think the TRU page is gone.

I guess they updated the available date field of that productid in the backend database. Whoever entered the info wasn't paying attention.

Should we have a dedicated general Ghostbusters 2016 thread? Between this and LEGO Dimensions, there are at least four sets coming out...

Since the Dimensions sets are, well, Dimensions sets, and this is a D2C, we don't need a theme thread until a hypothetical wave of sets is announced.

TRU occasionally sells D2Cs like Ideas sets, and since they had the Ecto-1, it makes sense for them to carry this set, too.

I see. Thanks.

This is a bit off-topic, but is the rumor about the Ghostbusters reboot theme line still in circulation or has it been debunked? :look:

Edit: I made CM4Sci laugh. I feel accomplished

With' two-story' building I take it they mean the ground floor plus two stories above. I don't think the ground floor is considered a story. Could be wrong though.

I just can't imagine they'd build the firehouse with a ground floor and only one level above that. How would that work with the two windows above the gate? Nah, I think we can rest assured that the LEGO HQ will feature the two floors atop the main hall.

That being said, I don't know how they plan on adding the containment unit... Because that's supposed to be in the cellar, yet another level...

I guess they'll kinda cheat the containment unit to be somewhere on the ground level...

Gosh, I hope they'll show us pictures soon.. The wait is starting to get quite unbearable...

Assuming they leave out the cellar, they'll likely add it to one of the stories. Keep in mind the layouts from the movie show the design to have only a cellar at the bottom, so for set purposes there was only one for the bottom level. My guess is the containment unit will be in the garage on the level exactly above where it should be in the cellar.

In the United States of America, usually when a house is for sale, if the house contains a cellar, basement, or attic, these are considered separate stories (a story is above ground and tall enough for people to walk in, an attic is a part of a story if you will).

So, when I was a kid, I lived in a 2 story house, with cellar and basement. Therefore if the cellar were attached to the set somehow it would have been mentioned as "2 stories with a cellar holding the containment unit" but instead it just mentions a containment unit and absolutely no references anywhere to where each room is on each story.

Hope that answers your question. So by the description, no, there will be no cellar and likely the containment unit is one either story.

As said earlier, the recent news of GBHQ's description by TRU is truly great. One thing that I am a bit...a little bit concerned and wonder is the total number of floors of this Building. If this set comes out with just TWO floors like 10197 Fire brigade or 10251 Brick bank (though we have not seen this 2016 modular set) it would not a bit...disappointment... How could we accommodate 21108 ecto-1, and all other stuffs such as kitchen, bedroom, Reception desks and etc etc, which should be included in brick built details that shows what GBHQ is, in 2 floor building?

Awaiting GBHQ is...in a certain point of view, quite...rather interesting and fun.. we don't even have any leaked or low res pictures or not even a clue, but at the same time, I assume that most of us, including me, might think it would be as similar as SwissGBHQ V2, due to some rumoured details (in particular 4600pieces...) of this set by Just2Good.

How much would this GBHQ set by TLG look similar to several GBHQ mocs from Lego ideas? based on the size, 38x25x36cm, the height of this set would be taller than Green Grocer(36cm) and 12cm taller than Brick Bank.. let's see how this GBHQ turns out!! can't wait!!!!

Wish they'd included a scaled-down Firehouse in the Ecto-1 Ideas set (the project did contain one).

Only problem is that it would have made the set prohibitively expensive to more casual fans of the theme. It is already $50 with the car and 4 minifigs. For many people, just having this will be well enough.

Why?

I assume the presumption is that many people who will be buying the new set have yet to buy Ecto-1, and they would certainly want that as well (at least the vast majority of them). If Ecto-1 were to sell out while the headquarters set is on the shelf, I would imagine the resell value on Ecto-1 would go up significantly.

Actually, since the set will be considered to be an Ideas set after all (even though it oddly enough wasn't selected back then) I take it the final set won't look that different from the one submitted by SwissGB.CH...

I sure hope so!

Since when is this considered an Ideas set? That's sort of the point, isn't it, that this just happened to be in development and the projects were rejected because of it.

Toys r Us has a set description! Curiously listed as an Ideas set...

Wish they'd included a scaled-down Firehouse in the Ecto-1 Ideas set (the project did contain one).

The project used one for background for the main image, but the description indicated that the project proposal was just for the Ectomobile (and the team, of course), not for the building.

Interesting. It's probably a mistake, though, since none of the HQ projects were approved.

That's what I thought too. Seemed odd...

I've never heard they were rejected because the set was already in development at LEGO though... Does make sense though.

Anyway I hope the LEGO set will look at least as good as the one proposed by SwissGB.CH... I really like that proposal! :D

So which Dana do we think we're getting? Zuul-Dana would be more interesting, but normal Dana would be more useful for both movies' contexts. Since Louis is being studied for Vinz Clortho possession, I'm guessing Dana's in her orange dress.

If it comes with the zombie driver does that mean the set will come with a checker cab taxi?

Can't see it coming with Stay Puft, TLG will keep that as a separate commodity in order to maximise revenue.

Might come with Ecto-1A but slightly less detailed as Brents version or may keep Ecto1 on sale seperate & state that it would compliment the set, also to increase revenue.

May come with small play features such as a seperate wall with books to simulate the library as the set is coming with the librarian?

Posted

I'd expect a taxi cab, but the librarian is just there as fan-service. No Ecto. Speaking of the librarian, I wonder what she'll look like. I'm expecting a mostly pink minifigure with a normal face on one side, but what hair? I think Padme's EPII bun is a good match. I don't know if she'll have a dress or ghost "legs", but a dress might be more accurate.
