Lucio Switch Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Hi guys! Surfing in the lego shop I found the 2000431 set. It's not pure technic, but it seems to contain a lot of flex axles, ribbed hoses and angle connectors in various colors (and other interesting parts), that can be very useful for our various Mocs. The price is just a bit high , but I wonder if anyone had already bought it and if it worth the effort! Quote
SevenStuds Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 For that price, you're getting only 89 unique parts from the 2445 total, and almost all the soft axles come in one length per colour. If you find it super cheap, why not, otherwise this looks like a good bulk buy for a Bricklink shop. Quote
dougstar Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 for 500 euros you can get a big bricklink order and get what you want and not left with dark pink 2x2 bricks Quote
DrJB Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 (edited) I think the price is really aimed at corporations ... not suitable for most hobbyists. Unless of course, you have more green than to know what to do with. Edited November 15, 2015 by DrJB Quote
Saberwing40k Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 This set is massively overpriced, for anybody. For $750 dollars you could easily get 2 flagship sets, and a boatload of bricklink orders. Quote
dr_spock Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 It is not that expensive for a consultant who charges $800+ per student per day of corporate team building training. Plus she can probably write off the set as a business asset depreciation. Quote
rollermonkey Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 There was a Serious Play set that had one of the ultra-rare parts from the UCS Millennium Falcon. Based on the resale value of the 8 copies of that one part, it would pay for itself.... The set did not remain available for long. You never know what oddity will be found in some of these atypical lines. Quote
Lucio Switch Posted November 16, 2015 Author Posted November 16, 2015 Thanks for the answers! I forgot to check on rebrickable! Before check, I based my question on the online Lego shop's pic (different from the one on bricklink) that was a lot more promising. Now I have to say that both images are misleading. For me it doesn't worth the effort! Quote
Kristof Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 In general I'm missing some explanation on the real purpose for these Serious Play sets. For me it all looks like overpriced mixture of bricks that were left over in stocks. Or even worse that someone carefully chose them to achieve the less useful and sense giving set... I really wonder how is that supposed to enhance someones business performance :D Quote
Cumulonimbus Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 In general I'm missing some explanation on the real purpose for these Serious Play sets. For me it all looks like overpriced mixture of bricks that were left over in stocks. Or even worse that someone carefully chose them to achieve the less useful and sense giving set... I really wonder how is that supposed to enhance someones business performance :D Well, I have been part of a few trainings in which Lego was used as a team building element. For example: in a training about communication one exercise consisted of two teams: one had the building instructions and a two-way radio, the other team had the bricks and another two-way radio. The visual instructions needed to translated into words, which was quite challenging. These kinds of trainings are a bit silly though and the 2000431 set wasn't used for it, but rather a basis creator set. Luckily, the best team (which I was part of) won small Lego sets, which is never a bad thing. Quote
Kristof Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 ^ That sounds like a funny game but as you note, any creator set is good for such purpose. This Serious Play something doesn't even have any instructions you could use for it. Still maybe if it was $200, I could possibly imagine someone buying it for similar purposes. With this price tag though... weird investment, even for companies that could easily afford that. Quote
