Vader Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 You know we have our own pirate community, we're not here to promote yours! |-/ Quote
Plo Koon Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 This was being promoted on the main classic pirates site a couple months ago, now that it's out it has a cold welcome? aww... :( Quote
Vader Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Fair enough then if it was on the main site, i withdraw my rant. Quote

Shadows Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 (edited) Any idea why neither of those links leads anywhere useful, to the extent that the first one takes you to a domain registry that claims the address is both available and free. I could literally sign up for it right now, if I was so inclined. A bit odd, isn't it? Edited to indicate further investigation: I see the problem with the first link, it's the curse of el typographologica, you apparently angered the keyboard gods and meant this ... http://www.wakeofdestiny.co.nr/ However, the site still isn't coming up, and neither are the forums. Edited again because LBaixinho snuck in a post before me. I'm just going to keep editing this one until I roll over the counter. I wonder where it rolls over at :-P Edit #3: I really thought it had a counter for number of edits. Oh well. Edited October 10, 2007 by imperialshadows Quote
LBaixinho Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 To go to the site and download, see screenshots etc.:Click Here The link didn't work. "t" out of place :) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 10, 2007 Governor Posted October 10, 2007 If you're going to advertise a website then it's a really really good idea to test the link to make sure it works... Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted October 10, 2007 Governor Posted October 10, 2007 Wake of Destiny is off to a bad start! While the Pirate Forum is happy to support the endeavours of other Pirate LEGO enthusiasts it's prudent to ensure what's on offer is going to work on a variety of computers and configurations. At least stating the recommended system specifications would be a good start. Wake of Destiny works on my computer however. Quote
Plo Koon Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 (edited) Chances are Joey, that you accidentally sent it to the temp folder. It works find if you send to the RIGHT(preferably desktop or my documents) folder. Any problem that involves not seeing the game has to do with you needing to update your video drivers. I apologize, and yes, the link worked for me last night, no clue how it worked since it said "desiny" heh... It was like 3am, gimme a break, sorry. ALSO, this beta is designed to find out the computer specifications, bugs, and other quirks, I really don't know only having one decent computer in the house. "Wake of Destiny works on my computer however." -Mister Phes -Wouldn't that mean that any other problems are with the user and not my screw ups, though they may be many, I wouldn't send out a game that simply didn't work. Axle Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Oh yeah! I'm downloading it now, and somone should make a dedicated serever called Classic-Pirates.com, and members of EB can only go there? Just a suggestion.. Quote
Plo Koon Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 that would be cool, and I like the leiron in your sig. Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Installed and ready to take-off, but where do I get those passwords to host or join servers? 8-| Do I need to sign up for Beta testing at your forums? WoD On Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 10, 2007 Governor Posted October 10, 2007 -Wouldn't that mean that any other problems are with the user and not my screw ups, though they may be many, I wouldn't send out a game that simply didn't work. As a game developer your aim is to ensure the game functions correctly on as many system as possible. So it could go either way, but it's not really worth debating that. The real problem is the fact you didn't make it clear this is a beta version and there may still be critical errors. Yes, you mentioned the game was in beta in the thread description but that's probably not sufficent. A warning something like this would have been helpful - NOTE: This is a beta release for testing purposes and problems may be encountered. That would have covered your big behind nicely X-D Quote
Plo Koon Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 (edited) All of the problems mentioned are not of error with the game. It's the game engine, torque, it's a problem with ALL torque games. Unique Builder, that problem is covered in the WoD forums. So are all those other problems you guys had. Edited October 10, 2007 by Plo Koon Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 10, 2007 Governor Posted October 10, 2007 Torque? Never heard of it... Most of us folk here are oblivious to how games are made. Quote
Tanotrooper Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Torque? Never heard of it... Most of us folk here are oblivious to how games are made. doesnt work here. I click a .exe file, it opens MSDOS file and opens a new screen with music wich I cant click or see whats happening... TT Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 10, 2007 Governor Posted October 10, 2007 Another point I'll make to Mr Koon... You can't expect the users from this forum to go searching for the answer or a solution on your forum. If you want to people to play your game then you've got to make installing and launching it as easy as possible. You've got to give the users the information they require on this forum and ideally that should be done in your very first post. Quote
Plo Koon Posted October 11, 2007 Author Posted October 11, 2007 Well yes.. but those kinds of problems are not solvable by me, Mr. Tibber had the same problem as Tano, I told him to update his drivers. Worked like a charm, he was using a slow computer so he wasn't really able to play anyways. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 11, 2007 Governor Posted October 11, 2007 I never said those problem were solvable by you, I said you've got make the solution readily available if you expect people to play the game. Anyway... I'm being blunt so I'm probably coming across a bit harsh, but that's life X-D You must have put a lot of work into creating Wake of Destiny, approximately how many hours do you think you spent on it? Joey Lock Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 (edited) I got the Folder but I cant find the thing? Woo! Its working! WOOOOO! but theres no servers... Crap...When I said that it froze... Edited October 11, 2007 by Joey Lock Quote
Joey Lock Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 (edited) Its working! Nice except for the plain room And why is there like a gun that shoots sloped bricks? And you need to make sure because I change to cutlass and I have a Musket and Cutlass and I cant fire the gun. Good over all! Im a Western Union Officer! And Im trying the Log Puzzle on top of the Aztec temple in pirate bay, and its very hard. And theres a small glicth when your on around the 3rd or 2nd set of stairs in the castle cave you just stop.
