Melthegerm Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and I hope I'm posting in the right section. My boyfried has been interested in custom Lego creations for quite some time now, but has never build one himself yet. So I had the idea that I could by him some kind of set for christmas. I've been browsing the internet for the past few days in search for instructions to a nice medieval tavern/cottage or something similar (I was looking for about 2000 parts, but more would be ok, too). Sadly I haven't found anything to my liking... Now I'm hoping for help from the community. Is there anywhere I can find instructions or at least part lists and some pictures of anything that fits my description. Or does anyone have some kind of advice how else I could go about the "christmas present" venture? I just don't see myself building something on LDD myself... I'm afraid the whole think would just come crushing down after the 5th brick was placed. Thanks in advance! Kins regards, Mel Quote
Ferret- Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Unfortunately nothing is in production that fits that bill, but here are some sets of varying sizes that you might pick up second hand on ebay or bricklink. Medieval Market Village (1612pc) http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Medieval-Market-Village-10193 Mill Village Raid http://theplasticbrick.com/shop/item/mill-village-raid-lego-set-7189-1 Guarded Inn http://theplasticbrick.com/shop/sku/guarded-inn-lego-set-10000-1 the market sounds closest to what you were looking for Quote
Isundir Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 (edited) Indeed your best bet is Medieval Market Village. Edited December 4, 2015 by Isundir Quote
Melthegerm Posted December 4, 2015 Author Posted December 4, 2015 (edited) Is there anything not in production like the MOCs in this Forum? Or more specific: how could I go about getting instructions for something like that if I'm not creative enough for that myself? Edited December 4, 2015 by Melthegerm Quote
Sorrelon Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 (edited) While I'm not sure, I guess if you ask to the creator of a MOC for the instructions, he or she might share the instructions, list of pieces or perhaps the LDD file with you. If you are looking for some sort of historic cottage, there are a few in Historic Themes forum. Even if their creators might not agree on sharing the instructions, maybe seeing them might give you an inspiration to sparkle your creativity. http://www.eurobrick...4528&hl=cottage http://www.eurobrick...ge#entry2264855 http://www.eurobrick...ge#entry2200456 By the way, welcome to the Eurobricks forums! Blakstone Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 You may also find the Hobbit Lake-Town sets really cheap and they would be a good start on Historic LEGO MOCs. I don't design my MOCs on the computer before building them. Instead I fiddle around with pieces from my loose parts and then make additional Bricklink orders when I know what pieces I need. Quote
Melthegerm Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 Thank you everyone for your help and the warm welcome this far! @Sorrelon: that's exactly what if been looking for! Sadly I can't send PMs yet, so I guess I'll just post in the threads for each MOC If that doesn't work I guess I'll either go for the market village or the lake town hobbits. Just remembering all the Lego sets I sold 15years ago... I feel kind of stupid.... Quote

Hobbit has 2 Lake Town sets and a Lake Town polybag and they are great source of parts for a cottage. With a bit of luck, you can still find those sets in stores. Vorkosigan Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 There are plenty of people selling medieval building instructions on ebay. I can't personally say which are good, but there are options. Making instructions for a MOC that was not originally built with LDD is quite a bit of effort, so you may not have a lot of luck with asking about people's MOCs. Quote
Ferret- Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Lego has PDF's for DL of all the sets on their site, its a tab underneath the picture of the images. Quote
MiloNelsiano Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Are you wanting to give instructions as the present, or are you wanting to give instructions plus all the pieces to build it? If you're wanting to give all the pieces, your only option is to buy a pre-existing set (the best of which, I agree with the others is the Medieval Market Village). You may be able to find custom instructions, but finding all the pieces to go with before Christmas at this point would be difficult for most people, but for someone who has never tried to do so before would be a nightmare. TitusV Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 There are not much people with instructions for MOCs, but this is from the Master (with capital, we're talking about DC here): http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=60907 You'd need lots of bricks, but the techniques are also usable on 32x32 plates. Hope that helps Quote
Melthegerm Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Thank you everyone. I found someone who gave me an LDD-file and I'm now going to order all the parts via pick-a-brick :D The one from DC looks really cool, too. But I think it's just to many parts for now. Quote
