Thanks HoganPrime! I won't stop collecting- playing for sure! :classic:

(A fashion doll is for example a Barbie, or Monster High/ Ever After High doll, but there are a lot of other less known brands. Most of these are manufacturing high- end dolls for adult collectors. For example Mattel produces Barbie's Black Label Collection doll line, and there is Integrity Toys, who makes Fashion Royalty dolls.)

I've got weird looks when I'm feeling the CMF bags

But then I stare at them like a creeper and they run away

It never fails

Random person: o_O?

You: O_O

I've never felt judged or anything of the sort buying Lego. Plus I wouldn't care. I stopped caring what people think of me a long time ago. I live my life how I want to. If you don't like it, then that's too bad. If people want to think things about me, go right ahead.

Always take pride in who you are. My little brother was ranting away about something (I think I had tried to explain the difference between disrespectful and cheeky. As I tease my mum and he can be downright rude) and asked me if I was proud. He wasn't so impressed with "Of course, there is little point or happiness in being any other way."

As for fashion dolls? I think I have more now than I had as a child (5, heh) I think if there had been robot and zombie dolls when I was small I would have had a whole lot more! There has been a little mix in the buying habits of me and my sister since the toy makers have provided cool dolls (for me) and LEGO with a fantasy "girls" theme (for my sister.)

I suppose it is easier for me that my sister and her husband are also very nerdy/geeky people. As they count as my two closest friends we are often together to shop or browse. Also, my parents appreciate that I have a hobby. Funnily enough, my three youngest siblings are much more into the "geeky" stuff too, meaning my self proclaimed normal brothers are the odd ones out in the family now!

I don't exactly know what a fashion doll is so I honestly don't know what the issue is there. But as for your hobby of collecting, building, doing whatever when it comes to toys... You have nothing to feel ashamed of. People have all manners of ways of spending money and frankly speaking you don't need a justification or excuse to do the same. You enjoy what you enjoy, and why should you feel bad and need to hide that?

Not everyone will understand what your passions are and some might actively discourage it by saying it's not normal. But that isn't your problem; it's theirs. So be proud of your hobby and go buy something. Nothing wrong with buying it for a 31 year old kid. I'm a 29 year old boy and I wouldn't change anything about that. Neither should you :)

Also @lazer, this is slightly off topic to Lego but i hope can give you some more food for thought. My colleague is openly gay and completely at peace with his sexuality (just to clarify I am not insinuating you might be, its just relevant to my friend). Which is one of the reasons why a week ago he had a hello kitty suit jacket tailored from some fabric he broight back from singapore and has a bicycle with a hello kitty pink helmet. When he wears that stuff it looks fantastic and everyone in our office has had photos taken wearing the helmet. If anyone ever judged him for his style and passions I know exactly how ****s he would give. Zero. Neither should you buddy

Amen to that!

At the end of the day you like what you like.. it's as simple as that! And nobody deserves the right to be able to take that away from another person. I get ribbed quite a bit because I like superheroes for example and get 'it's not real!'.. whatever, I like it.. so why should that bother someone else?

I completely second what HoganPrime said... be proud of it, and go buy something new as a megabluck it to all the people who hate on it!

Edit: Megabluck

I really don't pay attention. Even if they did, not really their business. Remember, when you point a finger, three more are pointing back at you. We all have hobbies which may be odd or weird to someone else. People collect Lego, action figures, shoes, anything really. Some people even collect trash.

It's a psychological thing really. We love to judge people for their hobbies, not for their character.

This!

And just to add, a friend is someone who should accept your hobbies and passions as they are, and not judge you by them. If they can't do that, then they aren't a good friend in my opinion.

the only time i start to feel awkward is when im buying Lego Friends sets to use in a city scene, and people just stare and think 'what the hell are you buying that for' but i dont care in the end, its my hobby and i shall do or collect what i please :)

sometimes feeling the Minifigure bags is awkward as you can stand there for a while trying to find the right one and you always get that one person come over and ask 'do you need help finding something'.

Not like they would know what they are feeling for haha. the lego store is allowed for that as that is there job sometimes.

i am not afraid to say i am a AFOL because it stops me spending money on stuff i dont really need or going out and wasting it on booze etc. Saving for a house is becoming an issue though lol, all i want to do is buy lego haha.
