Corvus Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Today, I went onto BZPower for the first time in a month, and lo and behold, I stumble across a peice of news. Apparently, the Bionicle movie for 2009 is in the making. Here's the link to Greg's Blog on Amazon. For those too lazy to click: One of the more exciting projects I have been involved in in 2007 has been the new, as yet untitled, BIONICLE movie project. This new DVD is currently scheduled for release in late 2009, and is shaping up to be the best BIONICLE movie ever done.I got the chance to do the story for the film, and the screenplay is being done by a veteran screenwriter who has worked on the Batman and Spider-Man animated series, among other projects. Right now, we are at the shooting outline stage -- as soon as that gets approved, work begins on the script. At the same time, the LEGO set designers are working on and testing sets for 2009, so the Tinseltown Toon animators can get to work doing their magic. You would think that doing an animated movie would be easier than doing a live-action one, but in many ways they are the same. In both, you have to pay attention to how big a cast you have, how many locations you use, how many fight scenes there will be because all of these affect the budget. Of course, the big advantage to doing animation is that the star don't need trailers and rarely ask you to weed the green M&M's out of their candy dish ... In other news, the BIONICLE Encyclopedia is selling very well, which means that there may be more of those in future. There are a number of exciting things planned by Scholastic for BIONICLE and LEGO in general which I will tell you about as soon I'm told it is okay to do so! :) Greg Huh. Best movie yet, eh? I hope so- I haven't even seen the third one yet. Feel free to slap me if this has been posted already. :-$ Quote
iamded Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I only ever got the 1st movie... on tape... Never saw any of the other ones around. ~Peace Quote
ExoBuilder Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I've seen the Web of Shadows and I can't say that it was on my list of good movies. I hope this is better than the other ones. Quote
:Venomess: Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 (edited) I think the screenwriter he mentioned might be Michael Reaves. If that's who it is, the movie will be awesome. ~D Edited October 25, 2007 by :Venomess: Quote
Kahgarak Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I have all three movies on DVD and i must say, these absolutely kick megablocks. This movie will be godly. Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Yes indeed it will be good if he's involved. Quote

zero1312 Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 In my opinion, the movies were pretty good...Except for [sickly] Emo Vakama [/sickly] Yeah, he's like a Bionicle equivalent to the transformer Rodimus Prime! :-D Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Good movie? Better have awesome fights... anyways, yah sounds awesome! -ZotS Quote
UFO Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 They should do the animation like they do the commercials. Just like 3D animated toys. No fingers...or... moving mouths...Just like animated toys...That's the good stuff. Quote
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 To set the record straight: The second move, Legends of Metru Nui, was easily the best of all three. While Web of Shadows had good animation and interesting plot, it didnt really pull it off - but still a good movie. The first movie was simply terrible. Now, THIS movie is going to be penned by Greg Farshtey. *wacko* Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 He pens the plot outline but they have writers to actually write the screen play right? Quote
InnerRayg Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 They should do the animation like they do the commercials. Just like 3D animated toys. No fingers...or... moving mouths...Just like animated toys...That's the good stuff. Good luck trying to show any kind of emotion with that. Quote
Clonie Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Well the 2009 sets are almost done so they should begin animation soon. Quote
