Athos Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 As I shared earlier, I've been working on an Adventurers Egyptian layout. It is pretty much finished, but too large for any overall photos until a convention in June. But I thought I'd share some of the piecemeal pictures I've been taking. They are mostly reference photos of the buildings in the village, so I can put it all together at the convention, but you can have a sneak preview. Gallery Steve Quote
Actor Builder Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Looks really good! I love all the little cameos like the Sandy-Kitty. I wish I had that many tan pieces. Great work so far. Quote
gamejutzu Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 It looks Great! However, the point where sand and grass meet is too abrupt, it could look more natural a transition. But that's trivial, it's still really good. Quote
Staslegomaster Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 How long have you been creating LEGO sets to become such a skillful master builder?!!! Such an unspeakable piece of art with unusual building techniques. I wish I learn from you. It looks very realistic. I've got so many impressions an questions, even don't know which to ask first. Well...Where did you find the red turban? I like the way you used Star Wars heads for your statues. Quote
Junior Shark Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 This is insanely awesome. You were able to introduce diversity to the buildings and they still all look very Egyptian. Quote
Athos Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 I love all the little cameos like the Sandy-Kitty. Thanks. I just need to get a proper tail or two for the smaller ones... However, the point where sand and grass meet is too abrupt, it could look more natural a transition. If you mean off to the left, in this picture, I agree with you. It is, however, the result of my LUGs display standard. The green is actually just another theme's layout that just happens to be displayed next to mine. How long have you been creating LEGO sets to become such a skillful master builder... I've got so many impressions an questions, even don't know which to ask first. Well...Where did you find the red turban? Thanks. I've been playing Lego for over 30 years, but am nowhere near a master builder... Ask away with your questions, I'll be happy to answer if I can. The red turban comes from an Orient Expedition set. I think the Elephant Caravan, but don't feel like checking to be sure tonight. This is insanely awesome. You were able to introduce diversity to the buildings and they still all look very Egyptian. Thanks. I really cannot take too much credit. I've copied a lot of designs I liked from other people and just modified them to suit my parts. I've used Kings Quest 6 for inspiration on a couple of them and Age of Empires for others. Steve Quote

The green is actually just another theme's layout that just happens to be displayed next to mine. Yup, but it still may seem distracting. It's not something really necessarily important, as you could just display it by itself, but... Meh. If you do decide to however, try using a river to bridge the gap, as water can be found in both biomes. Quote
Staslegomaster Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Having created such a super city ...and you are too modest to agree you're a master! Who is then? Keep on building to please LEGO fans. And it's quite normal to use someone's building techniqus. Quote
Forresto Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 I wouldn't mind if that Jar Jar Binks statue got raided and destroyed by the Baron Really cool stuff! Love Johnny Thunder! Quote
iammac Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Those buildings are positively magnesium! A good browse I just had.... One problem with the build though, your Sphinx is missing a nose! AMAZING! Quote
BrickCurve Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) Great layout! Its really nice to see another Egyptian one, they are quite rare these days. Something set in Egypt is now on my to do list! (Assuming it doesn't turn into a GOH Kaliphlin build first ). Edited April 13, 2016 by BrickCurve Quote

Athos Posted April 24, 2016 Author Posted April 24, 2016 I took a bunch of photos of the houses, in case the houses get damaged in transit to the convention, here is the gallery, if you want to see them closer up. Steve Quote
Athos Posted July 2, 2016 Author Posted July 2, 2016 Finally got the layout to a show (Brickslopes in Utah). Here is how it looks with all the detail and landscaping and structures in place: From the other side: And just a few of my little easter-egg details: Steve Quote
BrickShady Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Fantastic layout! I'm particularly keen on the Hatshepsut temple. It's certainly missing the dude in red kicks Quote
SerenityInFire Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 That's some pretty impressive stuff you got there. Quote
