Phadeout Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 (edited) The Asesino OK - so I was proud of this ship and disappointed with the pictures, several of you rightly pointed out that I could have done better so I went in to work and borrowed one of their cameras for the weekend, equipped with a new toy and some determination I took a few more pictures, I wish I had done this before. Although the aren't perfect I can see the massive improvement, and feel it does more to show of the build. Thanks for taking the time to look. The new pictures are at the end (I hope this would be obvious!). This warship has recently been sent out in support of the colonies following an increase in the number of privateers attacking trade routes, sadly too late in arriving to help a tri-kingdom purge the Asesino hopes to bring it guns to bear against any and all threatening the Eslandolan crown’s interests. With a total of 16 guns on a fairly sturdy frame the Asesino can expect to hold it’s own against most of the Privateer vessels but with news that some of our own warships may have been captured and possibly used against us, Captain Fandango and his crew hope they won’t be the only reinforcements arriving in the area. IMAG4021 by Phadeout, on Flickr The man responsible for running an orderly ship is Sgt, Carlos Enrique Ramos Medina, a mean faced and thoroughly professional marine who ensures guns are always at the ready and the men are well drilled ready in anticipation of the next time the Captain yells, "At them boys - who wants to live forever?!!" Build wise, I’ve obviously been “inspired” by the Brick Bounty but that is a lot to do with parts available - I hope that people feel there are enough changes in turning it into a warship and in general terms for this not to be a problem, it is by far my biggest build to date and the rigging is done to look appropriate but obviously isn’t “proper” rigging – I’d have no idea about the reasoning for lots of it in reality and to be honest although it is something I will work on in later builds, I was happy that it didn’t all fall apart while I was doing it! I’ve decided I need to come up with a better solution for taking photos, my phone just isn’t up to the job so hopefully this will be the last time I offer this quality of photo, but I also hope you enjoy anyway. Tezclatipoca Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 That's a nice vessel ! Indeed, it has a classic feeling ! Your Brick Bounty inspiration is good. Perhaps the masts would need another sail, something like a topsail on them, and you could add a jib more. You could use different sailing plan here : yacht, brig, galleon, or even a ketch (but your mainmast, the foreward one, need to be higher than the aft one), it's depending on what impression you want to give to your ship : more speedy, more aggressive or more trading vessel. So I can encourage you to look at some sail plans, it really gives a ship some personality ! All in all good job ! Quote
Kai NRG Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Very nice ship Phadeout, I really like the shape and the clean style. Great work on the sails as well. Wish we could have better pictures of it; part of your future solution could be a bit of adjustment to the brightness & contrast levels, I think that would really help. Quote
Capt Wolf Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Very nice ship. Good shape, and well armed. Good color scheme, too. She turned out great! Quote
blackdeathgr Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 I, too, want to make a ship out of TBB, so with your nice example (not overly different but also well achieved chunks of originality as well) i hope i will make something equally successful as yours (in blue ofc ). The Brick Seas is a very vessel-demanding... "lady"...!!! Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Fine ship - and I strongly recommend some photo-editing, as it could look like this: Quote
Phadeout Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 Shameless self-bump as I've added in some newer, and far nicer pics at the end. Thank you all for the feedback, it has encouraged me to try harder with the photos and I am far happier with the second run. Quote
Kai NRG Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Very glad you did this, those pictures are 100% better (not perfect, but still, 100% better than before!). This ship deserved the better shots; I'm liking it's smoothness even more now! Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Wow, now this ship comes out bright and shining! The new pics are fine - and now we can start to wonder why these guys have such strange haircuts Quote
