gedren_y Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) With the success of the Island Rose, the Crahaish neh Triuri invested in a much larger ship. Meet the Consort's Duty. (full image) The Consort's Duty (Class 5F) is the melding of a xebec and a junk, with a little lanteener influence. She was built by the same shipwrights that created the Island Rose. She is currently sailing from Nova Terreli to Trador, with a hold full of religious texts and artifacts. (full image) She is commanded by Captain Missa Drewsa. The shirtless man to her right is her long-time lover, Callum Dunn. Both are devout Truachesh Eslandolans. (full image) The man in the blue bonnet is Tavian deGrosh. He is tired of looking at Callum's tattoo. The pretty boy that spends too much time on his red hair is Tavian's little brother, Natan. "Lady" Julianne Caprice doesn't look like much, but under that heavy cloak are nearly a dozen throwing knives. Gina deLorenz mostly just answers to the name Swabbie. (full image) The Consort's Duty has two swivel mounted, breach bore guns. While the bores on these guns can only accommodate smaller than standard shot, their thickness allows for a more powerful powder charge behind it. That gives them a range long enough to allow the fast vessel space to avoid pirates. At the port side battery is Kindanna Swong. He was a native of Nellissa until he wed the woman at the starboard side battery. Sanya Time is the name most know her by. Fierce and deadly, she has worked decks since she was eleven. The Consort's Duty gets her name from the carving on the bow. The feminine form of the Triuri's Consort faces the bowsprit to suggest that it is the Consort's manhood. (full image) The strongman Felix Joe tries to not think about that while he prepares to throw the circular anchor overboard. To see all the little things I might have missed in my pics, and to figure out how I built that pretty hull, you can download the .lxf file from this Brickshelf page. blackdeathgr Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 You are full of interesting techniques and ideas gedren! Although too much pink isn't to my liking, i don't know why but i like this ship of yours a lot!!! Quote
dr_spock Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 I like violet and lavender, it has that Friendsy feeling. Maybe a bit less pink for blackdeathgr? Quote
Bregir Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 Another excellent, albeit alternative vessel from your shipyards, Gedren. While I am not personally a fan of these very alternative colour schemes, they certainly have their merits and lighten up BoBS quite a bit. It is an interesting rig, and while I am not sure how well it would work in practise, it looks quite nice. My favourite thing about your builds is attention to details in both build and description. Well done. Quote
Capt Wolf Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Very nice, even with all the pink! You've packed a great amount of detail into the presentation. The lines of the hull are very good. And I'm very glad you managed to get her licensed. Congrats, and . Quote
gedren_y Posted December 4, 2016 Author Posted December 4, 2016 Thank you, all. About the pink, for the sails and rudder I used the old pink, which is more washed out, so as to not overpower the lavender and violet. The captain's outfit needed the brighter pink to make the dark red pop. On 12/2/2016 at 2:45 PM, blackdeathgr said: You are full of interesting techniques and ideas gedren! That rear tie-down, where it meets the yardarm, was a bit tricky. It took four separate rigs, and repeated tries, to get the angles right. 23 hours ago, dr_spock said: I like violet and lavender, it has that Friendsy feeling. I have some ideas using those heads, but they and some other parts don't come in the colors I would need. I was going for a more Paradisa feel, but a ship that could sail the waters near Heartlake City is good. Those recolors, though well intended, actually make the build look more pink on my tablet screen. I think the blue background leaches the lavender and violet. 20 hours ago, Bregir said: Another excellent, albeit alternative vessel from your shipyards, Gedren. Well done. The beauty of fantasy. And what fun is a build without details? I'm also always up for a good narrative. 2 hours ago, Capt Wolf said: Very nice, even with all the pink! I greatly thank @Maxim I for purchasing the Puppy Hustler, which topped off the DBs I needed to license the Consort's Duty. Now, if only I can figure out how to most effectively use her in the MRCA.
