Between the new snail, pigeon, and fox pieces, the recoloured puppy / wolf cub, plus the bulldog with new printing, we’re again eating pretty well this summer!

Fingers crossed for orange foxes and more pigeons next year :sweet: It’s amazing that the introduction of new animals has become a yearly staple. Kid me would be over the moon with the selection nowadays since that’s the only thing Playmobil had that LEGO didn’t, back in the day. The only LEGO animals I had as a kid were two cats, a small handful of crocodiles, some parrots, a few horses and sharks, and that’s it

Looking back it certainly was a weird time when those were the only animals!

I've had little luck finding the Beastmaster.  I got two by buying two complete sets through my fellow LUG member's connection.  I got one from the LEGO Store. And I lucked into a fresh display at a Walmart when they first put the Easter Display out only because I was probably the first one to find them so I got the three that were there.  All the local Walmarts have all the LEGO locked up now.   Checked the one Target near me that actually seems to stock the CMF's yesterday and all they had were the F1 boxes.  Barnes & Noble has them behind the counter so not easy trying to get anyone to let you scan them.  I hate to see what they will be charging for the wolf once it hits PAB.  Most likely a much better deal if one can find the CMF at retail anywhere.  A friend has found some in a local grocery store chain.  The one near me is usually a series behind so maybe I will be able to find some there in the near future.  I had no trouble finding the Paladin.

Well for the wolf I would say it isn´t that bad luck you had there. I also think one of the main reasons the wolf(pack) is even rarer than the Paladin, aside from obviously there is a wanted figure and a wanted animal ofc, is that it seems that they made a lot more of the D&D series than they did with other series and it also had more demanded figures over all - so I think there was a fresh box on the shelves more often.

  1. Because people will buy them anyway so they increase the price a lot to earn even more money (pure greed)?
  2. Set sales have dropped because people have less money, so they want to force people to buy sets instead of just the best parts of PAB?
  3. They outsource PAB so it cost more money? Make little sense to me, if anything that should be cheaper for them, right?
  4. Suggestions?

I would guess a number of reasons really. First of all, surely they have higher costs through inflation ofc and they merged Standart and Bestseller pieces in a new place, which surely costs more money too.  But surely that won´t be all to it especially with animal moulds, and overall printed and dualmoulded pieces seem at least partly get more expensive.

So it migh well be, that especially with those pieces selling out fast when they are introduced it is also a matter of supply and demand and probably also because those animals are normally the selling points of certain sets and PAB shouldn´t hurt those sales to much.

Have seen the pics inside the Animal Crossing museum now. I honestly couldn’t call the colour of that scorpion from those pics! Does seem like we are getting the coral  piece in a new colour (purple) though.

I think the coral piece is also just magenta, and just looks darker through the trans light blue glass of the aquarium.

I do hope they recolor the pigeon - have some white, and also brown! And of course, orange fox!

We had sort of a jungle theme last year, and this year was a bit more of a cold weather. I wonder what next year will bring? :) ...the Outback, finally? ...or the desert?

Yes - Kid Me’s zoo was basically the Eldorado pirate fort baseplate (RIP proper baseplates - always wish I had multiples of the Paradisa ones). My ‘zoo’ had a shark, which I pretended was a dolphin, a monkey and a horse which I pretended was a zebra! 😂

Only 30 years too late though. Let’s hope the above are plugged soon plus 🦛🦏🦢 and a reintroduction of 🐪 plus coral 🦩 !

Outback would be good (i’d like them to release a version of the Ghan train too, which would fit well) but I think if they want to plug the gaps quickly, we need another safari wave as there are 4 key animals still missing there - e.g.  hippo, rhino, giraffe and zebra. Plus others like meerkat, gazelle, hyena, warthog and they won’t presumably all appear in the next safari subtheme song they need to get moving quickly with this!!

I was lucky enough to score some camels when they were freshly out, and some ostriches too - with both of the smaller sets they came in for Prince Of Persia on clearance. Kinda crazy that they were both just used that one time. Little did we know … at the time it seemed like a whole new Lego animal world was opening up quickly, but then they dried up again.

Giraffe, I think is long overdue. They should recolor the horse with stripes and make a giraffe and then we will have a true safari!!!

Yeah - I learned my lesson quickly after the camel/ostrich extinction!

I admire your consistent passion on this topic - but experience would tell us that Lego never fully completes anything we want it to! I can see them revisiting Africa and giving us a giraffe and baby, a zebra and maybe a meerkat. It seems so likely that lions, monkeys and crocs would be reused, so they wouldn’t *need* to give us lots of new critters to flesh out a theme. That said, I’d totally *love* something left-field like a secretarybird, or a honey badger!

We are way overdue for some sort of ‘Outback’ theme. It would be an easy way to shoehorn in different vehicles in a new colour way, and get a lot of mileage with just a couple of new animal moulds. Given that cockatoo and koala exist, and that snakes, spiders & crocs are all likely to be reused in such a theme, I’d expect just something like a kangaroo and it’s joey, or at a push a kangaroo and a platypus or a lizard of some description. They could also have some sea/reef based sets with sharks as part of the theme easily.

Maybe it was on purpose to teach us to strike while the animal mould is still hot

I do wonder how they would do a giraffe, in terms of poseability. Ideally most folk would probably hope for moveable legs, neck and head, but recent big animals have tended to have solid bodies. I think the most likely option would have a moveable neck and head, similar in some ways to the brachiosaurus, but without the need for a moveable jaw.

I guess there’s also a possibility that, given the new wolfs & foxes,  there’s a pro-wild dog agenda being pushed by Lego, and maybe an Outback theme could throw up some dingoes,  a desert theme give us Fennec fixes, or an African visit give us some Hunting dogs…

… sorry. Getting carried away.

We already have Giaffee and Zebra in Freinds a few years ago and we still dont’ get them in City. How rude, Lego!

Now Friensds has panda and its cub…. If Lego doesn’t do the same way for City,  let’s ram HQQ’s doors down.

Yes we need a ram mold too. My wishlist is: kangaroo, raccooon, giraffe, zebra, baby shark (don’t start it again…. Ever), peacock, armadillo, bison, moose, fawn, goat kid, rooster,  proper wolf puppy (don’ get me wrong…..), camel.

Too soon for rumours?

Both new maps from the arctic sets sit nicely on the 4 maps from recent times (The top right map is being held at an angle so it doesn't line up perfectly here).

The path goes off to the left. Does this mean another map going into the mountains?

They can't just leave it at 7 so I predict there will be another 2 to make a square of 9 maps.

What locations could we see in future?

A savanna? Hopefully some different animals than just lions and elephants again.

You know we do have savannas in Australia...

6 maps

^^^ This was posted in the City theme message board... intriguing what new lands Lego will visit and which animals they will make???

Mountains? Desert?

I don't care what set LEGO puts it in or how much it costs, if LEGO put a system-type kangaroo (or other clearly Australian animals) in any set (i.e. not Duplo or Friends style animals) I would buy that set no question (well maybe if it costs a thousand dollars I might not be able to rush out and buy it...)

Well we already had the koala and cockatoo via the CMF line.

It worries me that if we do get a kangaroo it’ll be in a CMF and will have undetachable boxing gloves on as some kind of poor joke. Or a kangaroo costume only for an actual kangaroo not to appear, much like the giraffe/llama debacle.

You jest, but way back when one of the CMFs (the series 5 boxer, unless I’m misremembering) mentioned a ‘boxing kangaroo’ in their bio (yes, they used to have little bios) … and there was then intent speculation that we should see one as a CMF.

Whilst the boxing gloves would be a shame, at least, bizarrely, it will be a 'cheap' way to get a small mob of kangaroos!

Depending on how easy the figure is to get, though I doubt it’d be Beastmaster equivalent!

Yeah, would guess it would be an figure many would want, though nothing many would want several of.
