Darnok Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 (edited) An Holi, Weelond, the last warm days of October. The famous Weelond Octoberfest is almost over, so many people from all over the Brickseas take a last chance to enjoy the festivities. One attraction in particular had drawn a lot of attention: a massive monument donated by the Corrington Parliament Of Science. Quickly nicknamed "The Mug" by the Weelond locals, it showcased the finest efforts in glassmaking and mechanics, bringing the glory of beer to be seen from near and far away: Among the visitors was young Billy with his father, joined by other Weelond citizens. It was close to the full hour, which meant a demonstration of the mechanical workings of this "biggest glass of beer around" was due in a few minutes. Billy pointed to the plates next to him, asking his father to read him the texts. "It tells a lot about the history of beer on the one plate, and describes the construction of this monument on the other. Lots of technicalities really. But the sight of this makes me really thirsty. They should get this over with, I want a real beer!" To the fathers pleasure, in this very moment the spectacle started... ... when the Master whipped with a loud crack... ... the horses moving, and the giant glass construction turning around slowly, making a full circle. The crowd cheered, awed by what had to be a wonder of mechanics. Soon they moved on though, mostly looking for the smaller, but in fact drinkable, counterpart. ================================================================================================ This is my first entry (of three) for this years Octoberfest mini-challenge. It is a beermug - giant in minifig scale, about truescale for humans - on a platform, being able to be turned. The mechanism actually works, pulling the string makes the whole "tower" move around. Just compare to location of the handle in the pictures above and the lenght of the string. Behind the spoiler tag you will find some additional pictures, showing the "inner mechanics" as well as a comparison to an actual beer mug: Spoiler The "inside", before the "tower" is attached: Some more sunlight: A "scale shot", followed by the real-world counterpart: I plan to license this as a small arts & culture build once the funds allow it.
