Flavius Gratian Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 The situation in Mooreton Bay was tense following the recent developments of the Tyrell incident. When three armed vessels, two gunboats and a brig-of-war, entered the harbour on the morning of the 22nd, therefore, Mayor Hume was worried and ordered both the regulars and the milita assembeled. The sight of Corlander colours flying from the vessels appeared to bode well, but you could never what tricks those WTC might come up with. Thankfully, the brig was identified the Justicia, and tensions eased. Nevertheless, Mayor Hume sent Captain Willard and a company of regulars to meet the new arrivals. Mooreton Bay barrel maker "Good day, Captain! Lieutenant Lawliet Lavendwood of King's harbour at your service! I've been sent by Governor Cooke to support you during the Tyrell affair. I have a message and three carrier pigeons for the Mayor from the Governor, to be delivered to him personally. "Then I'll take you to him immediately. Glad to have you here!" Arriving at Mooreton Bay The Mayor's carrier pigeons Behind all the commotion the workers at the Mooreton Bay barrel maker were at it as usual. Being situated right by the harbour was perfect for buisness, as traders going in and out always had need of extra barrels. Barrel makers This is my picturing of Lawliet's orders to reinforce Mayor Hume in Mooreton Bay. When I saw that we needed some artisans in Mooreton bay I decided that this scene could serve. Unfortunately, the overall scene takes a lot of the space so I couldn't really show the barrels all that much. There are a bunch of them there, they're just covered by the troops. I could probably have used a better background, but I havn't fixed one of those photo booths. C&C is welcome! If anybody wants a close up of the pigeons, here it is: Spoiler Pigeons close up Quote
Bodi Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Nice build, with lots of good details, I like the artisan house and the dock, the pigeons in the spoiler are cute, and the city torsos worked surprisingly well here, I should get some of these too. Quote
Mesabi Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Fantastic build Flavius. It's a very good scene. 3 hours ago, Flavius Gratian said: The sight of Corlander colours flying from the vessels appeared to bode well, but you could never what tricks those WTC might come up with. Honestly, I was pretty close to blowing up the Icarus Returning in Mooreton Bay. But I decided to save that one for another day... Quote
Keymonus Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Carrier pigeons... soon I’ll “borrow” your idea! I like the building, the dock and minifigs’ posing, even if barrel production is a little bit “crowded”. Quote
Ayrlego Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Nice build and very convenient for your arrival to take place in front of an artisan! (will you licence it?) Not sure if I've mentioned it before but the use of that town torso is very clever for the naval personnel - I have stolen it for the helmsman on my frigate (unfortunately I only have one). Cool pigeons and it is also nice to see some of Bregir's colonial troops as well. I really love the effort you went to to tie in elements from lots of different Corries here. Great job! Quote

Thank you very much! I'm actually really proud of the torso idea, I too think it works brilliantly for ordinary able seamen, giving them a uniform of sorts. If I have the time and energy, I'll do a LDD build of the gunboats towing Icarus Returning out of the harbour (with your permission, of course). Thanks! I'm just miffed that I didn't have enough yellow "beaks" for all of them. Go ahead and borrow away! 9 hours ago, Ayrlego said: Nice build and very convenient for your arrival to take place in front of an artisan! (will you licence it?) Convenient, indeed! I hadn't decided what to put in the background when I saw your post about the needed properties, so it seemed like a good solution. Yes, I will licence it! 9 hours ago, Ayrlego said: Not sure if I've mentioned it before but the use of that town torso is very clever for the naval personnel - I have stolen it for the helmsman on my frigate (unfortunately I only have one). Don't think you have, but thank you nonetheless! I'm very pround the idea myself so it's nice to see other people also like it. I too only had one initially, but Bricklink delivered once again (totally worth it!). 9 hours ago, Ayrlego said: Cool pigeons and it is also nice to see some of Bregir's colonial troops as well. I'm glad you appreciated the troop diversity, since Bregir gave me his gunboat for this mission I thought it would be fun. I also tried to give your regulars that scruffy, bearded look thay have (personally, I think anything less than a clean face is an affront to Her Majesty, and Corlander sense of order) Quote
Bregir Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Young Lt. Lavendwood seems to be quite an overachiever! Orders are a arrived out swiftly and effectively - very good! As others have said, there are some nice figs, good references to other people's troops, and a good build overall. Personally, I like how you work in elements of the story, and I am loving that the carrier pigeons made it into the build! Very nice! Quote
