wrduncan3 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 When I drive my trains, I find that when trying to slow them down as they come around a curve I often end up stopping them instead. Some time ago, I saw a post (maybe here, maybe not) that showed how to add a structure to the remote (8885) to provide better control, but now I can't find it. Can anyone help? Quote
Duq Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 The 8885 remote control is digital: it's either full speed on or it's off. For controlling trains you want 8879 remote control. Quote
wrduncan3 Posted January 19, 2018 Author Posted January 19, 2018 I didn't know that! Thanks for the info. Off to buy a new controller ... Unfortunately, 8879 has been discontinued. I actually have one, but it's broken. Quote

wrduncan3 Posted January 19, 2018 Author Posted January 19, 2018 Does the 8879 work with the same IR receiver? I couldn't figure that out from the website. Quote
dr_spock Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 It will work with 8884 IR Receiver. https://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-Power-Functions-IR-Receiver-8884 Quote
zephyr1934 Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 If you purchased 8885 from lego when you actually wanted 8879, they might take it back or give you credit. Quote
