(IC) While stocking up on supplies in Arlinsport, young adventurer Lieutenant Nathaniel Brickford came across some exciting news from the WTC! What he saw was a posting offering land to establish places of business in a Large town called Mesabi Landing on the island of Argentia, in the Prio Seas. While the young lieutenant was unable to go himself, (on account of his unit was shipping out to King's Harbor at the end of the week) he sent word to his father, Richard Brickford to look into it for him. Upon arriving, Mr. Brickford decided that it would be a most lucrative decision to take up the kind members of the WTC and start building immediately! After much debate with his most trusted employee, Ralph Clutchington, it was decided that a plantation would be a good starting point, so that they could feed the droves of workers that they would soon employ! it was also decided that the profit from this business venture would be sent to his son to help establish himself in the new world. Ralph Clutchington was also promoted to the head manger of all business operations of Mr. Brickford that will be held in Mesabi Landing.

(OOC) Just want to start of with a thank you to the WTC for extending their welcoming arm to me and being so generous! While my main character will not be visiting Mesabi Landing until further notice, I believe Ralph Clutchington will be most happy and agreeable to work with the WTC. Looking forward to helping Mesabi Landing reach City status!

Thanks for viewing, and I hope I formulated this post appropriately according to the rules! C&C a welcome!

A nice little plantation indeed, I love the storage shed and the depiction of busy minifigs. The WTC is happy to have them around!

If this build is not yet licensed: please note that your first small land property license - which this small plantation is - can be licensed for free. Simply pick the corresponding option in the property licensing form.

I assume the crop is corn? Good IC choice, and it will definitely grow on Argentia. For the future you can keep in mind that Mesabi Landing is on a very dry island, so anything that needs lots of water would not grow there. There are plenty of plants that thrive in arid conditions though, and if you want to build a plantation for something unsuitable on Argentia you can simply choose another location. If ou are looking for inspiration in regards to plants, I have started the BotBS Plants Index (and really should keep working on it :sceptic:). Shameless self-promotion, I know, but maybe you find something that interests you, or add something of your own.

Also note that you are free to build anywhere in Corrington settlements, and in most other factions settlements as well (in the latter case it is best to ask in advance to avoid confusion though).

Thanks! I'm glad it gets the WTC's approval!

Yes, I choose to grow corn because I figured it would be a safe choice because of it's how versatile it is. I keep the climate in mind as I work on other builds in Mesabi Landing

Nice build! - the corn looks great (very clever technique!), and storage shed is excellent as well, especially the roof!   Good work!

Thank you! I was very proud of how it turned out!

I was assuming he was growing pineapples ???

Nope. *oh2* Their growing corn all the way. Pineapples might be a good idea in the future though...

Very creative approach to corn plants, I like this a lot. Nice work.

For the future I'd suggest to rather use a dark baseplate and put green plates on top of it. Here you have grass as your base, and then have soil/mud/clay on top of the grass, which is rather unnatural.

Nice cottage design, the roof is great!

Thanks you! I keep that in mind for the next build that I do. Thanks for the feedback!

@LM71Blackbird

I just noticed something worth mentioning: you licensed this build as a medium plantation - which it is not. Please have another look at the property list: plantations have different sizes for small/medium/large/royal properties, with 32x32 actually being "only" a small plantation. Just keep this in mind for the future.

Oops! *oh2* This was my first build that I licensed so I'm going to claim ignorance, but I'll make sure to pay extra close attention in the future. Thanks for letting me know!

Don't worry! Mistakes happen - I have made an aweful lot myself. :pir-grin:
