Darnok Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 With his latest finding being coal, the formerly "Golden Jack" was now only called "Black Jack", much to his irritation. So one day, leaving the Blue Dragon after a day of drinking, he decided to correct this misconception - by finally finding the gold he knew was out there! He went east out of Mesabi Landing, into the dry wasteland that made up most of Argentia. His famous nose led Jack to a cave near the east coast: Leaving his backback behind, Jack started exploring the cave. Soon the daylight coming from the entrance became less and less... It was only when Jack ignited a torch he realised: his nose was once again right, he had found something shiny down here. But what was it? Quote
Mesabi Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Very nice build Drunknok! I see you've kept the blue dragon. The gave is well done, and photographed. Let's hope it's not coal in case he drops that torch! Quote
Capt Wolf Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 It's not coal, and, alas, the shiny object is nothing special. It's just a rock quarry. Quote

As a follow-up question, and this goes to @Bregir and @Legostone too: With a coal (already) and rock quarry (soon) mine established on Argentia, what are the odds of either a better outcome for prospecting (as in a higher yield:investment ratio) or a different result (so not coal or rock again)? Bregir Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Lovely scene, sir. I particularly like the cave and the lighting in the last pic. As to the odds, they are fixed. Regardless of the number of prior prospecting builds and their results, the next one is always random and independent. Just like the outcome of rolling a symmetrical dice is unrelated to what the last 50 rolls resulted in. Quote
Roadmonkeytj Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Very nice prospecting build ... Jacks sniffer might be broken though ... Shiney rocks ? Its a quartzite quarry then? Lol I really like the way you detailed the interior of the cave ... And the torch shot is quite convincing. 7 hours ago, Bregir said: Just like the outcome of rolling a symmetrical dice is unrelated to what the last 50 rolls resulted in. Haha that's why you should always use asymmetric dice when playing craps ... You just never know how them others are gunna come up lmao Quote

That does not really answer my question, other than the propabilities for each outcome being fixed. To rephrase my question: are the propabilities for all minerals equal for Argentia, or (as an example) is it "40% chance of coal, 40% chance of rock quarry, 20% chance for one of the others".I know you can not tell me the exact numbers, but I was asking for those, but for the gist of it. Quote
Bregir Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 There is a fixed, but not equal, chance for different minerals. Coal may be 10 %, gold 50 %, etc. If there was any minerals named in the island rumours, there is likely to be a higher chance of that mineral here than on other islands. Quote
