WesternOutlaw Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 I was browsing through Brickset today looking for some additional jungle or river-related sets for my Jungle Adventure, and I stumbled upon a Shell Promotional set. The set is numbered 2537, and is #3 of 10 promotional Shell sets. Remembering a neat little find in my local 99 Cent store several years ago, I managed to pick this set up with six others (#s 3-8). I had never opened the box and only until now did I realize I had this little Adventure/Extreme Team set. Here's a few pictures of the box: I was wondering how rare these sets were? I didn't find them in a gas station, but rather a 99 Cent Store. Quote
iamded Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 I can't answer your question, but I can say that's one neat little set! Being the Castle nut I am, I wouldn't mind having 4, 5 and 6 either, having missed out on all those sets. Those little sets are a great taste of Lego, they even included a technic set. Great find! ~Peace Quote
Stauder Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 I got the 2 from a gas station... X-D Only set with yellow flippers I think! Stauder Quote
Batbrick Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Thanks for reminding me of those TheBrickster, I remember getting three of those little sets on the box. To the Bricksignal! >:-) Quote
MagPiesRUs Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Ah, those were nice little sets. I believe I bought 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 9. These were at least a third of the cost of the impulses today. I'm not sure about how rare they were, but I got them all from a gas station. Quote
goggleson Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 :'-) I got one handed down to me from my dads and half brothers lego collection Quote
simonwillems Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 I remember getting this set a my local Shell station, it came out about the same time the Shell gas station series was released, including this set I bought the numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8. The boxes included a stickersheet with a sticker showing the number on the box (3 in this case). Why? I never found out. It was a cheap way to get a backpack, two dynamite pieces and a brown plate :-) Quote
wulf Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 I have both of the bats and the alien, there pretty cool!I got mine at tuesday morning 2-3 years ago. Quote
WhiteFang Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Brickster, thanks for the boxart. I went to find these old sets and realised i had all of them! :-D These sets were given from my friend when he knew i was so crazy about LEGO. Hehe, glad i had those! *wub* Quote
Shadows Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Great topic, I'd forgotten about these little sets as well. These were vastly superior to any of the fast food promos we've had in the US. Europe has had promos like this since then, and it's just a shame we can't get anything this good again... :-( Come on TLG, bring us back some of this happiness. Quality Promo On! *y* Quote
Wout Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 I bought 6 or 8 of this set for 3 euro a set some four years ago. It was a nice set because it was for that time a very cheap set, and most normal sets were not under 10 euro. It has a female face fig, a brown plate, a brown backpack, and 4 brown log pieces, so you got lots of log pieces for buying more sets for a small price. I bought it in a toystore called "Top1Toys" +/- 5 years after the shell action so I think it was a leftover. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted March 21, 2008 Author Posted March 21, 2008 They were neat little sets, and I never saw them anywhere except a local dollar store. Perhaps I'll share some images of the other sets. Quote
zouave Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 I got about half of these sets. I got mine at a shell station. Sometimes I ask people at the shell stations if they still have these to annoy them. I know someday this will bounce back at me when they still have some in the back room. Quote
pfb Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I wouldn't mind having 4, 5 and 6 either #4 is available in this auction... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...ME:B:EF:AU:1123 Cheers, Paul. Quote
snefroe Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 i bought 6 of that UFO set about 5 years ago in a supermarket in Dubai... I was VERY surprised to see lego in the Middle East, especially a set i'd never seen before. unfortunately, i didn't keep any MISB :'-) still, they must be rare by now... Quote
