Darnok Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 When a WTC expedition to the far North of the Brick Seas recently found a drifting ship, it turned out te be a class 4 whaler from Namere, named "Nipper". Going by its ornaments, the ships captain must have been very successful in the past, or maybe just lucky. The crew had not been so lucky, for all of them had died from food poisoning before the WTC had found and taken the ship. The ship came equipped with two rowboats and a lower deck with all the necessary equipment for hunting whales (hrpoons) and processing their parts (oven and pots to cook the fat) plus storage room for barrels of whale oil and bones: . With "nipper" meaning both a tool for clipping as well as a young boy, the figurehead shows both: The model has a full interior, with a fully furnished captains cabin, and a removable upper deck to show the lower deck: The "Nipper" is now sailing under WTC colours and manned by its infamous Black Squad: For some more pictures check out my current AMRCA post. As always, C&C are appreciated. Quote
LM71Blackbird Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 Easily my favorite ship that you've built Drunknok! Nice color choice and good details throughout the build. My only criticism is that the masts might be a tad to tall, but I think it fits with the build in the long run. Quote
Fraunces Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 I really like the insides and the work you put in to make it really playable. I also like the guns on this ship. I do however think the bow+figurehead, the colours and the masts are a little blocky and unrealistic.. The longboats on deck are a nice addition but due to them being prefabs the backsides are so open, it would be much cooler if you would made two custom longboats to polish this effect away. I do see a lot of progress in your shipbuilding cause I have been looking at all the unread topics of the last two years BotBs , your building motivation is inspiring and every MOC gets better, so keep up the the progress Quote

Hmm, they are the same size as any other "official" Lego two-master. Might be that they are raised a few bricks (by standing on the upper deck, not starting at the hull) or the lack of actual sails that make them look taller. 13 hours ago, Fraunces said: I really like the insides and the work you put in to make it really playable. Thanks for the constructive criticism, I appreciate it. My goal for ships has never been realism though. On top of that I always have to make compromises due to the bricks I have (or do not). This ship is a good example: far from being realistic, and could look a lot better with different parts available. 13 hours ago, Fraunces said: I do see a lot of progress in your shipbuilding cause I have been looking at all the unread topics of the last two years BotBs , your building motivation is inspiring and every MOC gets better, so keep up the the progress Nice to hear, thank you. Mesabi Posted July 11, 2018 Posted July 11, 2018 Very nice boat @Drunknok, it captures the classic Lego Pirate ship look very well. Your exposition of whaling equipment is a nice touch as well, and very period accurate as well. Keep up the great work! Quote
