Don't remind me about that corn... Such a good mold, only to be killed off so quickly. Hopefully one or two of the new torsos end up on Pick a Brick so we can make our own Battle Packs in the mean time... Quote

That would be a cool gwp, it doesn’t really fit the set, but that scene is really a stand alone anyway, and getting two new characters is awesome. I love the set, and am happy with the minifigures. I also can’t believe that we could potentially be getting Rosie, the proud feet, Sméagol and Deagol before Eowyn, the witch king, or faramir (or any Gondor). Crazy to think about but not complaining about the set, it is great, the price is good, the minifigure count is spot on and the selection was right ($22 per minifigure). I am also hoping we will get some torsos and legs in pick a brick to build a few extra hobbits (especially Sméagol and deagol prints). These prints will likely not end up on PAB. The only recent one we have had was the nazgul and that's just a generic torso print that can be used for many things. Set looks great I have the original so this would be great to get but I still need to get Rivendell and Barad Dur. If the gwp is good may get this day one. Quote

So I'm hopeful that we get one or two of them snuck through - I can probably fill in gaps with peasant torsos from MTS/older torsos I already have. Quote
Gorilla94 Posted March 8 Posted March 8 (edited) It is gorgeous, but I have to say I preferred the printed tile for the door Edited March 8 by Gorilla94 Quote

I never saw anything about Pippens torso but now that you say it yeah that statue was on there but again that's just a generic torso and not a named character but if they do end up on PAB they will disappear quick like the Nazgul Quote

The Botanical Gardens and X-Men Mansion for $330 instead of $300. Barad-Dur for $460 instead of $450. Makes it really hard to keep being a fan... Quote

THELEGOBATMAN Posted March 8 Posted March 8 (edited) Frankly, I thought this was going the first Icons LotR sets I would buy... but my interest has immediately disappeared, completely. Rivendell: 6167 pcs for 500€ Barad-dûr: 5471 pcs for 460€ The Shire: 2017 pcs for 270€ I'm not that big of a PPP ratio guy as I was before, but this is simply ridiculous. How has the value decreased so much with yearly sets? Edited March 8 by THELEGOBATMAN Quote

I love the LOTR sets so I don't want to bash the costs too much (I thought Rivendell was fair), I thought Barad Dur was ok with the gwp, this one is ok with a gwp, - it had better be all printed parts on the exterior shots we saw. I agree though with the overall cost bumps beyond inflationary costs making me lose interest in Lego overall. I have already narrowed my lego purchases significantly (I am only planning on 5 sets this year). It is hard to find value in sets anymore. I think a lot of them are cool, or look good but the bump in prices take the interest out for me. So now instead of buying sets outside the themes I collect (which I frequently used to do) I only buy sets from the two areas I collect, and soon I will have achieved my Star Wars collection goals and only buy LOTR sets going forward. Lego really needs to figure out a way to get better value to customers so the decision is based on how the set looks vs. how much it costs which almost instantly zaps interest when they look for the extra 10% which we know is already above where they are comfortably profitable. Altair1 Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Now that I think of it, I am afraid that the GWP Smeagol & Deagol 40761 might be a BrickHeadz... I really hope it is not the case, otherwise no day one purchase for me on the Lego Shop as there would be no point in paying the full price. Quote

hikouki Posted March 8 Posted March 8 My biggest disappointment in this set is the fact that there are so many side builds - I wish there were a unifying base or layout. I can't wait til the regular MOCers on RB start doing that. Quote

I can't wait til the regular MOCers on RB start doing that. I will probably take the side builds and combine them separately from the set. The party was not that close to bag end and combining the party scene and expanding it is probably going to be what I do with it vs. expanding the whole base. I might also make the proudfoot home and lane where Gandalf shoots the fireworks (but good luck figuring that one out because they renamed the homes and the references are limited in the movie). Since we can recreate that scene with the minifigures. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted March 8 Posted March 8 The US price not not mean much for the rest of the world as TLG's price conversion rates are incredibly inconsistent. Quote
RichardGoring Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Has the piece count been confirmed yet? Either way, if it's $270, that does seem high for the 'volume of stuff'. As usual though, I will wait for the full reveal to make a decision. Quote
