I'm not convinced by that new price and release date.
How reliable is that leaker usually?

Brick Clicker who confirmed those tends to be as reliable as they get.
Unfortunately (in this specific case anyway)..

Very sceptical of a Smeagol & Deagol set, I just really struggle to see Lego releasing a set based on one single scene in which a cold-blooded murder takes place...?
(don't get me wrong, I'd love it! But it's also hard to display alongside the set)

Wonder if they'll bring forward the reveal after this leak now it's gone from the site.

Also looks like the doorknob piece is chrome gold!

While I like the idea of getting two extra minifigs through the Sméagol set.  I would have preferred something closer to the main set.  Like a Nazgûl on horseback with farmer maggot and his dog (probably too many printed pieces in that idea). Or a Nazgûl with the small tree on the road side.

i can’t imagine another chance to get Sméagol and deagol though so i am not disappointed in getting those two minifigs.  If that does turn out to be correct.

I'm wondering if the tariffs are being considered for the pricing for this set or was this the price all along.

If it is tariff pricing, why is it 270 Euros? $270 sure, but from what I understand, nothing gets shipped from the US to Europe. On top of that, it is 35% higher than the "expected" price of $200, much higher than the tariffs

It was MaxBaut? :shrug_confused:

Brick Clicker just made the graphic that's doing the rounds.

Sets are still on the List too, and I would put the Lion Knights Castle and Rivendell above Bag End.

Absolutely agree ! Those 2 are the best official sets ever and I am not really a Lord of the Rings fan. My third best set is BDP Mountain fortress. My Black Falcons need a big castle.

Brick Clicker confirms the 270$ price point. With an April 2nd release (though April 1st would be much more fitting).

And the GWP is supposedly minifig-based.

€270?! I don't see €270 in the Shire. Sure it looks good beside that tree...horrible. And no new moulds.

If it had all the dwarves from the Hobbit, I would pay €270.

Easy pass for me.

I have Rivendell. Expensive but beautiful and impressive with new moulds.

And I like the Hobbit movies more than Lord of the Rings. Lol

Dwarves are cool. And the best one is Tyrion from Game of Thrones.

Because like I earlier said : Lego is like Ferrari. Their target audience is the upper class . Yes they will sell less but the higher price makes up for it.

Great point! I do wonder what happened to that plan announced several years ago that they were going to open a factory in North America?

I've checked regularly this thread but didn't intend to say anything before the final pics but... the price! My goodness.

The set is of course nice for Hobbit fans, though Shire settings seem quite boring to me personally so this wasn't on the very top of my buying list. But now the price makes me wonder how the bookend will look like. I just hope it's not an expensive microscale GWP diorama with a 1x1 plate for Gandalf and a 1x1 brick for the Balrog...

Any news when we can expect pictures of it?

I am quite worried myself. With all the fans clamoring for a cheap set, I am only afraid that Lego will actually cheapen it.

Well, there is Star Wars.

Let’s see what this GWP actually is.

My bad. Still, Max has a decent reputation himself.

Anyone else let down by the set or just me ? looks too small imo

Hobbit Dwarves would have been nice, 2012 set still holds up today, the plates with all the food (sausages, chicken, cherries, baguettes, apples) were nice to have, I doubt we'll get any of those in the set

I hope Helms Deep is next

Not let down by the set at all, just the price.

Minis Tirith or Gondor has to be next, I am good with a future helms deep but Gondor is needed.

There's at least two with the skirts on the lady Hobbits.

Are those not the same as the ballerina skirt from the CMF some years ago?

I have been saying I would buy any LoTR set Lego puts out after the reboot. But this set is underwhelming for $270.... If the interior isn't gorgeous I might push this set back for awhile personally. Some may disagree but having 12 dwarves would have been 1000% cooler

Its being built and said to be opening in 2027.

No. The tutu piece goes straight out, and the other dress piece (like what Alice or Minnie Mouse wears) isn't as "ruffled."

I wonder if these are going to be bespoke one-off skirt pieces or they will be re-used in other themes... this would be exciting for both the Disney and CMF lines!

If could be a set with 2 friends fishing in a boat, hopefully with a big fish and just the ring on the bottom of the river, nothing dark about that

Seems strange that they will use the set budget in this set for a part like that, my guess is that it is made for another theme like Wednesday, HP etc and they just borrowed it (that is not uncommon) :shrug_oh_well:

The main set is Bilbo's birthday celebration, so having a Nazgul as the GWP is not really any closer to the main set than including Smeagol and Deagol. And it might seem a bit lame, given the last GWP was a Nazgul.

I've tried to do custom Smeagol and Deagol in the past, the right purist parts don't really exist. So if it is true, I'd be after them.

Oof. I was ready for 250, but 270 is ridiculous. If the GWP is amazing I will still buy it day 1, but only to get the GWP. Otherwise I'm waiting for a sale. The other newer LOTR sets have both had great PPP. Why go and break perfection Lego?

They have already put the most important dwarf from LOTR in Rivendell, along with one other. And if you mean they should have redone Bag End from The Hobbit movies instead, it would be pretty silly to do a flagship set with 12 dwarves and leave one out especially as it would likely be the only The Hobbit set they do.

Possibly down to size of parts. There are some larger parts in Bag End compared to a lot of 1x1 tiles in Rivendell. I guess we will have to wait to see the contents (and price!) to determine value. It will be interesting to see the price per kilogram across the sets.

Yeah, 270 is rough. Waiting to see what that will be in CAD. I did not purchase Rivendell or Barad Dur day 1, but I probably will get this one if the GWP does in fact include two unique minifigs. I still need to find a way to get the Nazgul from the last GWP so I can keep my complete LotR fig collection going...

They've been doing that with SW sets.

The price sucks and I do have a (admittedly very small) list of complaints, but overall I’m very happy with the set and I'm really excited to get it day 1, especially if the GWP is what we’re being told
