MAB Posted March 18 Posted March 18 It could well be that the sets are already in the USA and so have no tariff. Although if not, there are other options if they don't want a high price in the USA ruining the reveal. They could release details for Europe, Canada, Australia, China, essentially the rest of the world - just no USA price. They could go further and release the set for the rest of the world and let Americans wait for a delayed release until or if tariffs settle down. Or just let Americans see the real price with their extra tariffs added on to the base price. Other countries have extra charges such as VAT that get handled that way. Quote

Not sure if that was an accidental reveal by the Mexican LEGO team which forced the official teaser page to be published 3 minutes ago, Cyprinus said: Apparently they are aiming for a reveal on the 25th. Where did you hear this? Still pretty unprecedented for the LotR reveals, which were typically teased over 3 weeks in advance. Quote

It's since been removed. So I understand, is it considered a 'leaked image' because it hasn't been officially announced, or because LEGO have since removed the page? Or something else? Thanks! In this case "leaked" is nebulous. As the original photo was dropped by an official site it would technically be allowed. But since Lego has removed it and there has been no official announcement it's better to play it safe and not re-post it here. How you handled it, buy removing the photo part that could potentially make Lego angry with us, was great. Quote

If it turns out to be true, then it shows that what happened in the past isn't the way it must always happen in future or, alternatively, sometimes things change. Quote

He said “3.25 LotR will be eating good” so looks like that’s the announcement date, but by “eating good” do you think we’ll get more revealed then just the Shire? Maybe that’s why the later announcement, we’re also getting the Balrog set revealed for later this Summer? Quote
sqidlord05 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 It just occurred to me that this set is releasing on a rather suspicious day… Quote

Balrogofmorgoth Posted March 19 Posted March 19 March 25th is Tolkien Reading Day, so I can understand why they would want to aim for a reveal that day, but less than a week before the release is absolutely crazy Quote

mtrsteve Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Is it the 25th yet? If I set my clock ahead can I load the site early? Quote
Balrogofmorgoth Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Back of the box leaked! Looks like Gandalf’s cape is hanging up inside, but is included Interior isn’t superb, but it has everything necessary for a Fellowship of the Ring version Merry and Pippin have regular hairpieces included as well, which I assumed but it’s nice to see it confirmed There’s a play feature on the Party Tree to make Bilbo disappear There’s also a play feature at the fireplace to throw the envelope in and have only the Ring come out Bilbo’s hair still looks awful Quote
RichardGoring Posted March 21 Posted March 21 The interior doesn't look great to be honest, and feels small in comparison with the exterior. I like the fireplace mechanism, but the disappearing trick is disappointing. It's very simple, which is fine, but it doesn't explain why the tree is so poor. It's just a bad tree, which seems odd. Looking forward to seeing better quality photos and videos of it. Quote
JohnTPT17 Posted March 21 Posted March 21 It's an acceptable interior for a $200 set. For a $270 set, it's laughable. What a major letdown - I've been excited for this set for awhile, and aside from the background Hobbits, nothing about this is really exciting me. Quote
zoth33 Posted March 21 Posted March 21 There is a feature to make Bilbo disappear. The interior looks good. Still will wait till the 25th for further judgement. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Does look a smaller and shallower interior than anticipated, hopefully the price will reflect that ( given we only know the US price and prices aren't always consistent across regions). Quote
mirkwoodspiders Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Can't find the image of the rear of the box. The feedback so far doesn't surprise me, though. Judging from the leaked image of the front, I wasn't expecting a spacious interior. The official reveal needs to get here! Quote

Lordhelmet Posted March 21 Posted March 21 not seeing $270 in this set, love the exterior, interior is small but fine, just not seeing $270 in it. Still will buy for the gwp but the cost lowers my excitement for what is a great looking set otherwise. Quote
Blazej_Holen Posted March 21 Posted March 21 The interior is so underwhelming from what I can see in that blurry pic… definitelly not a $270 set. There are obvious budget cuts which hurt the set a lot. Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted March 21 Posted March 21 The Shire costs almost as much as Beasts Castle, with that set, I see the value, with the Shire, not so much. Quote
