While it is rare to see settlers from southern Halos in Corrish settlements in the new world, it is not unknown. Lately a small community of Lotii people have established themselves in Port Raleigh. As a community they have constructed traditional style buildings in a quarter on the outskirts of the settlement.

Their houses are made of laminated wood and paper and are well suited to the warmer climate. The traditional garden was harder to establish, and it has taken some time to find the right plants that mimic the vegetation of their southern homeland while still being able to flourish in the warmer climate of the Sea of Thieves. The centre piece of the garden is a stunning cherry blossom tree, especially selected and carefully looked after. It sits near an ornamental pond, filled with golden koi fish, also imported from their homelands.

As soon as he posted it, I was inspired by @Bregir's Cherry Blossom Tea house (linked in the text above) and I wanted to extend that community. While we have never defined the nations of Southern Halos, I initially considered the Lotii to be more Chinese than Japanese; however, Bregir's more Japanese style was definitely what I wanted to attempt! Apart from a rice paddy, I've never really attempted anything Asian before so this was very refreshing! Will be licensed as a residence in Port Raleigh.

I absolutely love this just as much as I did the tea house I think my favorite part is how you included the koi in the water.   Was that tricky or did you just build out of the bank with clear?

Also how would the "quarter" tolerate an outsider builder in the settlement as I have plenty of paper screens from sets I bought for parts lol.   And I love Japanese architecture

Nice build in general - love the cherry blossom tree!  The colors in the cobblestone are nice as well, as are the koi under water.  :classic:

Thanks deraven!

Thanks Roadmonkey, the koi weren't tricky, the water is 1x2 trans clear bricks with 1x2 trans clear tiles/plates on top. I left a three brick gap which the fish fit in then closed over the top with overhanging tiles/plates. The only problem is the fish are very straight. Your method would probably work better for more natural looking fish swimming at different angles.

As for building, absolutely go for it! One of the things I really enjoy about BoBS is the wide range of builds possible, who would have thought I'd every build Japanese in a pirate RPG!

Fantastic build! The cherry tree, the lanterns and the painted wall contribute together to create an oriental feel, and the geisha is a nice touch.

Beautiful build. I love the tree! The lanterns are good, too. I didn't notice the fish until reading the comments, but that's a great touch.

It is interesting how many different architectural styles we can explore in BoBS.

Nice house and outstanding cherry tree! I like the touch of the underwater koi too! It's nice to see some Japan… ops, pardon, Lotus Kingdom here in BoBS!
