This was a challenge! Among other things I had to cut interior decoration to a minimum and give up on tiling on the roofs. And I'm not sure if it was really worth it - in the end nobody asked :) Anyway, the mod above is a small sample of how the castle could look with a few hundred elements more. On the other hand, this model in its original form already weighs 3,5 kg... I think your creation is really amazing! You made a fantastic and big looking castle with a reasonable number of parts. The building techniques and the proper amount of detailing make it look as it could be produced as an official set right away. I really hope it achieves 10.000 supporters as fast as possible. I absolutely want this castle! Good luck! Quote

TeriXeri Posted July 19, 2020 Posted July 19, 2020 (edited) Certainly seeing a nice surge in Castle projects above 1k-5k, hope the popularity keeps up. While we still get the Medieval Blacksmith set at some point (probably 2021), a Classic Knight's Castle would be nice to see for sure, and I did just support a whole lot I missed. Also there's still The Castle in the Forest in Review. Edited July 19, 2020 by TeriXeri Quote
Jcreations912 Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Made a new .apng for my Fantasy Castle project, in hopes that I can update it, and use this as the main image! Please support if you haven't already! Quote
povoq Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 Hello everyone, I saw LEGO CITY set 60271 - is this a statue of a forestmen ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Is Lego giving us a clue for the next lego Ideas Set? It seems a bit unlikely as the developing process for a set is quite long, and my set The Castle in the Forest is still in the review phase.... The boxing, instructions and the mold for the head for this Lego City set had to be decided, and made ready for production at least 3 or 4 months ago in my opinion. Could it be a last minute change before production ? Check here for some better images : https://brickset.com/sets/60271-1/Main-Square What is this head piece ? 88489 ? It seems a bit larger... Quote
Modeltrainman Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 So, what I have here is a model of a violin. Inside, you can put interchangeable scenes representing themes in classical music. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/6d12447d-8ac0-4011-a421-9f207f5ac9ae Quote

Haha, I'm hoping that's the case just as much as you are but I wouldn't read too much into it. Another one of the town square sets from awhile back had both a knight and a Futuron spaceman, but neither theme came back. Quote

When I saw the forestman statue, I too started thinking it could be a hint your project was making it in an official set. There have been hints to future sets in LEGO sets, but they're barely predictable. We'll have to wait and see. Do you know when we can expect the results of the review? It is a fantastic submission and I think it has a great chance! I really hope The Castle in the Forest will make it! Quote
SleeplessNight Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 (edited) Hi! That would be real cool if Lego selected the Castle in the Forest for production! Fingers crossed! In the meantime my own Castle of Lord Afol and the Black Knights recently passed the 5000 supporters milestone. So BIG THANK YOU to everyone who voted, shared, commented or otherwise supported this project! Is Lord Afol going to get his castle? However, it's worth mentioning that the LEGO Ideas team has approved a Medieval Blacksmith so it's not very likely that they will make another set based on the same theme. Quote

You're right, and I don't think it's likely that this becomes a set for that reason. However, it's good that sets like this and The Castle in the Forest are at least getting a shot at being approved, and the more castle themed projects we get to 10k, the more likely Lego is to relent and bring back the theme. Same thing happened to International Space Station/Saturn V/Lunar Lander. Seems like LEGO is bringing the Space theme back. Quote

Heechee84 Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 Although I have not been following this for too long, it seems to me the high number of castle sets now simultaneously reaching high numbers is unprecedented. The Castle in the Forest is currently under review, and we might see three (!) castle sets in one of the following reviews (Classic Castle is at 9000, Lord AFOL's castle at 7000, and Fantasy Castle at 6500). Four large castle sets, proper ones, not just some broadly medieval-themed sets! It is very much possible the previously approved Blacksmith has completely ruled them all out. If not, we will see one full-scale castle approved soon or never. I would take any of them, to be honest. Quote
jtooker Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 1 hour ago, Heechee84 said: ...the previously approved Blacksmith has completely ruled them all out.. If you look at most 'themes', I'd say that is probable, but the one exception is space, specifically models of real space objects. I think that 'theme' is special since LEGO can sell those models to many non-LEGO people; more-so than they could sell a castle set, even one that looks realistic. But I hope I'm wrong and LEGO does release more castle sets (ideas or other). Seeing so many get over the 10k threshold is exciting. Speaking of, anyone have guesses on when the Blacksmith set will be ready for sale? My guess is in January 2021 when TLG releases all their post-holiday sets. Quote
