xenologer Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 (edited) Always liked the Sentry mecha from the first ExoForce year. So here's my design for a small mecha of similar pattern. Its not meant to fit into the EF storyline in any way tho (never liked that story...) I'm fairly happy with the basic frame, but recently added on the cockpit and not too sure if its growing on me or not yet. I guess i feel like the way its put together is cumbersome, click hinges and those snot bricks that kinda stand out(under pilots arms) pilot is well protected from being crushed in a crash... tho like similar models not so well covered against beam weapons(i guess thats why he's wearing that armour vest) At least the way the canopy opens is pretty neat note jump jets the legs are better articulated than official ones, felt that this is important for balance when taking on different poses Im not happy with the cockpit somehow, they way it sticks out like that from the side profile... seems well balanced over the feet tho what you think? Rocket launcher arm can be replaced with a mirror of the gun version with only 3cents price increase (basically nothing). Edited August 6, 2008 by Sinner Quote
Grakul Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I like this! It looks much more solid and durable than those flimsy Exo-Force mechas. Quote
Toa_Of_Justice Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I like it a lot! My only suggestions would be to replace the blue pin on the front of the gun with a gray one (if possible), make all the translucent 1x1 round plates and cones one color, and give the pilot some control sticks (again, if possible). Would you please post a link to the LDD file of this model? -Toa Of Justice Quote
Asuka Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 A nice little mecha indeed with a good opening system for the cockpit. It could be nice to see this one with other arms and perhaps hands as some kind of worker mecha, though. Quote
xenologer Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 (edited) Thanks Heres the LDD link. tho I'm not sure this is a final version just yet. LDD changed out a few plates below the cockpit for a car mudguard piece, cheaper, interesting shape also changed those 1*1rounds to be all green, missiles... left em blue, seems odd to me to have them match the mech's specific colors exactly, when they're probably mass produced disposable ammunitions.... the tip of that gun is blue, not gray, since the blue pin is cheaper At the moment whats really bugging me is, see the cockpit from below; it's relying on click hinges for support. I generally don't like using these things for structural elements... reserved for stuff thats movable... Of course a major problem with this mech is it costs about 13$USD, nearly as much as one of the big official 15$USD sets; so why are we bothering to buy this guy with that kind of competition? Brainbox Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I like it. I think blocky, "cumbersome" frame makes it look, for want of a better word, beefy. The legs are good too. If you're not happy with the cockpit area sticking out, you could always move the legs forward a little, so as to balance it out a bit. Quote
xenologer Posted May 11, 2008 Author Posted May 11, 2008 (edited) Looks better with dual gun arms I think... And based on the black/yellow striping there, I'm thinking the name is now Stinger Edited May 12, 2008 by xenologer Quote
Asuka Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Looks better with dual gun arms I think... Perhaps, but it looks for sure very neat and sweet just in real bricks.... Quote
Darth_Legois Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Looks GREAT I prefer it with missles though but thats just my opinion Quote
