Who created the English language with so many exception rules?  What were they drinking?  :pir-huzzah1:

I used to care about proper use of trademarks when it was part of my job.

LEGO Batman the Movie figures were the best designed and produced Batman minifugres by far. Going back to the classics is a major step backwards. I fear that we won't get LEGO Batman figures as good as the movie ones were for a looooong looooooong time.

I think the primary reason why those figures were so insanely detailed and had so many new molds was because the Batman Movie sets got a far bigger budget attributed to it than any of the other regular Batman sets. Because they have a mainstream theatrically released movie as a commercial to back them up, LEGO expected to sell far more of those sets than any of the other regular releases. Same goes for the all the other LEGO Movies. Far bigger budget and expectations = far more detailed minifigures.

The sad part about that is that we'll probably never get minifigures of that level of detail for a good while, not until we get a new batch of LEGO Movies.

I like these three themes ONLY - Creator Expert, Creator 3in1 and City. Nothing else. Only Creator Expert is popular here, Creator 3in1 and City aren't, but it also makes price here for these themes usually low

What’s a big deal about English lanauge itself? I mean a deaf American and English lanauge is not my primary language. I sign in American Sign Language (ASL), it’s way different from English language. I don’t follow grammar rules. I usually sign “me buy two lego today” instead of “i buy two lego sets (or legos) today”.

It is fascinating how different your perception of language can be depending on where/how/which first language you are raised on.

I work with a lot of deaf guys and we communicate fine (A rough mixture of lip reading, written words and mime!) and one of my friends is deaf and we write notes back and forth (I am too dyspraxic to be any good at sign, unfortunately)

I don't have any real hang ups about the use of the term Legos. But is still sounds weird to me.

Then again, I live a few streets down the hill from the Indian Takeaway, so I say "I went Up the Indian for some curry." Someone else lives a few streets above, they "Went down the Indian for a curry." And that sounds strange!

"Why yes I would!"

"Ok well you should have done that before you came to the store today lol. Get a load of this guy! We can't just apply VIP points right here at the register; what year do you think it is, 2015? :iamded_lol: Did you just wake up from a prolonged state of unconsciousness? Yeah I know we used to do that but we changed it just because. So you can do this all on your phone right now, don't worry its super easy and not at all convoluted or confusing but the signal will be terrible here in this shopping mall, you know the malls do that on purpose so you can't check prices online, anyway go to lego.com, yeah, and then log into your VIP account, wow yeah this is taking a really long time in fact this usually takes like at least eight or nine minutes, so yeah now go to the VIP center, then um I think you go to rewards center, yeah, then, uhhhhhh, select to use a reward and it applies a temporary digital gift card. See, super easy!"

"Ok I think I did it.":hmpf_bad:

"Ok let me just scan your VIP card again. Oh no! OH NO! It looks like you did the VIP rewards for the shop at home online site and they're non-transferable so they can only ever be used online now and the item you want isn't in stock online and also its terrible for the environment to have this thing shipped from some warehouse in like Illinois when its right here sitting on this counter right now, right in front of you, but you applied your VIP points to the wrong thing LOL hey Josh this guy did the VIP thing again!"

I know right?

I suppose I am somewhat shielded by the fact that I like to use my points to discount on big purchases I cannot be arsed to carry around for a day of shopping. (When I go to Cardiff, I am out for a day of retail therapy and hauling a massive set is not on the agenda). So far, the changes are naff as.

That's not unpopular at all. Everyone who didn't come up with the stupid change at a LEGO office thinks it's a terrible change.

For the most part, overly printed minifig legs are disappointing at best, often pointless. They make it impossible to move legs without messing up the aesthetic, and, especially when they continue on from torso printing, they render legs impossible to reuse.
I much prefer that Lego concentrates on dual moulded legs, and clever use of contrasting hips.

Ooohhhh, story time with koala! I only use mine once a year...it is coming(Jan 1st). I don’t really mind the change but it’s definitely stupid & unnecessary.

It was probably just my fault as I haven't gotten anything at a lego store since, like 2019 or something. I don't even remember. But I was getting some Duplos (yeah, I said Duplos) for someone else and then stood there with a not so bright look on my face as they reminded me; they probably thought I just crawled out of a mineshaft or something. Recently unfrozen caveman.

It’s silly, and overly complicated though with the vouchers.

Could just as easily during the payment, ask, do you want to use points? How much? Done.

Exactly. You give your email, they look it up and see. Was that too difficult for the cashiers? As a cashier at several places throughout the years LEGO's old system was perfect. Instead they 'fixed' it while the website still doesn't work sometimes.

Its one of the great things about this international forum. Even though the primary language is English there's still so much that can be learned about other people, places and customs through both the discussions and creations with Lego.

It was easier to use VIP vouchers in the past but, at least for online shopping, it is pretty simple to use them now. You check what you want us in stock, you ask for the vouchers and get them instantly, and you apply them. In store it is slightly more complicated if you are buying sets that might be out of stock, as you have to be in store to check they have stock.

As for the rest of the VIP scheme, maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I like it. They are starting to do one off sets, like the camera, that are not available in other ways through the VIP scheme. This is exactly what I expected when I answered the survey about what customers want from VIP points before they made the change. It is also good that they have done second chance on sets like the VIP store polybag and I have got a few of the prints, that look great. The coins issue wasn't great but there they seemed to underestimate demand. I think it is better now than it was both before the change and just after. Of course, they still do those wallpapers and colouring sheets that they expect people to use points against that makes LEGO look rather cheap but at least we are starting to get some exclusives.

Blind Boxes are terrible and should be scrapped.

CMF should be overhauled as it's not very online retail friendly.

Bags, Boxes, no different when they aren't even sold in any stores here.

I guess boxes at least put Retail on the same level of "blind" as Online for non-secondary market sales.

Also Boxes can be cardboard and promote more recent LEGO's packaging policy.

Still, doesn't take away that random just isn't fun to me.

I'm not so sure that would have the effect that some people want though. It would make it much easier to pick all the sought after CMFs so the fastest person would get all the army builders (whether they want them for themselves or to sell on), leaving the less sought after ones sitting on shelves. At least in a blind bag there is a barrier to clearing them all instantly.

Unless they scrap the small purchase sets and sell them only as larger sets (for example a series of 12 CMFs) but then it really changes what the product is.

I prefer blind boxes to blind bags because it makes it so much harder for people to "cheat" and get the figure they want. It's supposed to be random, folks. It's very disheartening to approach a CMF display and realize that all the bags are crinkled up, meaning someone else got there first, snapped up all the good minifigs, and left the remainder in that gross condition. If you're not willing to participate in the lottery then go to Bricklink. Don't ruin it for others.

Posted

I think the best would just be to have some kind of code on the backside of blind bags. Ignorant consumers could do their thing, hardcore fans could do theirs. But I fear that they'll do blind boxes at one point for all. Would be incredibly stupid move but let's see...

I think the increased prices of battle packs and CMF's would be more acceptable if they'd put in more. But quality did not just decrease (less new/interesting molds and super exclusive prints) also parts stayed the same. Cost or random, unprinted parts would be the least of effort for Lego but it would justify the higher value for us consumers.

Like for the hoth battle pack they could simply put 150+ parts for some kind of trench buid.

This, not to rain negativity on the CMF fan parade , but I can understand them being random, and boxes put both online and in-store on the same level with no cheat.
