[GoC] Gunboat

This is my second entry for the Oaken Shield task "Gunboats for the Colonies" of the GoC-challenge.

In regards to your call for a naval arms race I have been experimenting with different vessel types that can mount a heavy 32-pounder gun on an turnable traversing carriage. The result is a vessel with immane firepower that can protect harbours and patrol rivers due to its small draft. Behind the mast is enough place to further carry up to four additional carronades or cannons. Unfortunately the vessel is not able to make open sea voyages. That is why enclosed you will find the plans as well as an extra copy to give to a shipwright in reach of the location, where it is needed. I hope the design meets with your approval.

The carriage can easily be turned by just changing the positions of the Clip Light Plates (4081b):

The ship and cannon look excellent! Also, interesting take on the sail color with the olive green. It looks very fitting.

Your gunboat design is both innovative and utilitarian, and I am certain it will perform well in the colonies. The Commisioner of the King's Harbour Shipyard has evaluated the plans and have approved them for construction without adjustments. Particularly the gun carriage has been remarked upon. With the successes of our gunboat strategy for the protection of the colonies, support for the policy is unfaltered.

Excellent gunboat, Wellesley! I particularly like the fact that your guncarriage actually turns! She is certainly well armed, and I think she will do well, whatever port we decide to have her protect! The rigging is also nicely done, and the brickbuilt hull is cool!

I'd love to see bigger pictures on your posts, by the way. I normally post 800x600, and I think your posts would benefit from larger pictures.

I think the real master is the gun on this ... The clever parts the rope rigging it to the ship and the mobility.  That said the ship itself is a treat to look at too.  I do think your broad side cannon(s) could use some 1x1 rounds to simulate wheels

That is a good advice. I never thought about others maybe having another reading mentality, not wanting to click the links to look at the pictures on flickr.
I could start having a big teaser picture and putting the rest into a spoilerbox, as long as it is not relevant for storytelling.

Actually no, they are supposed to be little carronades, mounted on a sledge-like carriage. They are shrunken versions of @Admiral Bejaune's simple carronade.

Very nice gunboat. It's a creative design, well thought out and built, and certainly well-armed. Your vessels are never really lacking for hull or rigging designs, and this one absolutely fulfills the purposes of the free-build challenge. And I appreciate the effort you put into the guns, especially the big one. Approved
