I have a strong feeling we will be getting Borgin and Burke’s. There are technic connectors behind Knockturn Alley and even though the minifig’s outfit is from PS I think they just wanted the trio to match in the D2C Diagon Alley set. It would fit perfectly with the Burrow’s floo powder fireplace, plus it works well with the HBP theme of the year since it’s an important setting in that film. But didn't he say it cost $30 or $40? I don't see B&B being worthy of the rest of the shops at that price. I'm leaning towards it being the brick wall "entrance" to DA. That Harry makes sense for that scene and it would legitimately add to the scene. Especially at $40 they could do some fun stuff with the entrance... 1974 Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 You have to be real daft if you think these leaks aren't coming from TLG. They have hundreds of people employed doing marketing, SoMe etc. A little leak here and there keeps the Afools going, doesn't matter in the grand scheme when the set is actually revealed. Yes, you can trawl shops and lego.com to find preliminary listings etc, but TLG is well aware of all that ;) Cheers, Ole
Lobot Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 I'm a bit underwhelmed by the box art...it seems to be totally devoid of anything remotely spooky which is rather odd. The system-scale sets are far more appealing to me - but it's almost inevitable it will still be a best seller!

Your characterization of people bitching about the human rights of trans people is really problematic and I don’t want the mods to step and shut down the forum on such an important day. JK Rowling didn't question the human rights of transgender people. She spoke out about sex-based rights for women and girls - which wouldn't be seen as "problematic" anywhere else except the Western world which is sadly regressing every day. She has faced misogynistic abuse ever since - including threats of two things which cannot be mentioned here, and grown men posting adult images of themselves in her threads with pictures children have drawn. Women and girls don't face human rights violations based on their gender identity but on their biological sex which is indisputable. Activists for women's and girl's rights in places like Pakistan and the Middle East (where women and girls face horrendous human rights violations, and even speaking out about them can land you in trouble) would attest to this. This shouldn't be a controversy, and it shouldn't be viewed as a matter of Group A Vs. Group B. Women and girls need sex-based rights under the law, just as transgender women need treating with dignity and respect and protection under the law. Many transgender women see no problem with what JK Rowling said. I would have ignored this comment but I see you continually posting misinformation and real-world political commentary with an air of smugness that really riles me the wrong way.

That’s actually a brilliant idea, I’m on board with this! @LetaLestrange we discussed it off the thread and it’s all resolved, let’s have this conversation privately so we can focus on Lego and not get sidetracked. Yellowturnip Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Yea I used the back of the box this morning to get better idea of what it would look like but to me it still doesn’t feel crazy enough I guess if that makes sense. I’m sure a lot of fans definitely prefer it to be screen authentic and I get that but for me as it stands at the moment it’s a bit moo and not enough platipus

Looks really cool from the front (though I didnt mind the angle on the front of the box either). Really hoping the GWP is the brick wall entrance now. It's likely not to launch at the same time as the set though right, like the DA microscale didnt launch with the castle?
sammy_zammy Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Seems to be a lot of discussion about the colours of shops. First, this set is absolutely bursting with colour and I love that - it’s exactly as it should be. Second, I have no issue with QQS being pink, but I think it’s perhaps a bit too large a quantity! Third, something seems off about WWW. It could be the rendered images but it seems very plain on the outside... lots of orange and lots of lilac. I feel it needs some accents in both texture and colour? Probably looks better in person though.

sammy_zammy Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Also, apologies to everyone I shot down about having street - it adds some nice depth. But also I’m glad it’s not too much!
Modal Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 (edited) Ok yea now looking at it more I think the pink QQS was a mistake. I don’t care if it’s film accurate, it looks kinda gross compared to the other buildings, which have that more historical feel to them. It’s also way bigger than everything else? Hopefully someone mods it to look a little less, pink. Edited August 19, 2020 by Modal
LetaLestrange Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 I can understand some of the disappointments discussed, but for me I am over the moon with this set. I don't buy any Lego outside of HP and (while it was still running) the Simpsons. But I have been severely tempted by several modulars (especially the bookstore). So getting modular-style buildings based on my favourite franchise, and one of my favourite locations, is just incredible! I get a nostalgic feeling from this set - with callbacks to the original series (with the cobweb and a few other little details) and the CoS video game (as someone else mentioned) with the Molly and Ginny and trio figures. I think it is just beautiful and I am so excited to get it. But now, more than ever, this confirms what I have always known - that Hogwarts castle needs the type of love and attention only a D2C could give. Please make it happen, Lego! Just now, Modal said: Ok yea now looking at it more I think the pink QQS was a mistake. I think the problem is that your eye automatically goes to the pink given the angle of the set on the box (and the angle of the photograph just makes it more noticeable). I think it will look better in real life.
2lazeetomakeaname Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 I think we are going to get a second D2C in like 2 years with The LC, Madam Malkins, Eeylops, and some other stores i'm forgetting.

Slightly off topic, does anyone have a good idea for a table that could properly display this set + a few others to add on to it? I am going to buy something to put in my room exclusively for this street, but I don’t know where to start. Edited August 19, 2020 by Modal

Everyone said this about the microscale Hogwarts and (thank God) it hasn't happened yet. I want Gringotts, B&B and (perhaps) Leaky Cauldron, but there are many other things I would prioritise for future D2Cs than a second DA.
dyl-and Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Ginny has the generic young girl head (used on Susan Bones in he GH) which is a bummer.
