I cant tell if she has thumb holes or really long sleves or its some weird wizard jacket Hermione’s sleeves are similarly long, covering her entire hands.

Also, funny how her hair there looks like a longer version of the twins’ hair with the bangs/fringe, but they decided to go for her more common “clipped” hairstyle.

BacktoBricks Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 (edited) In case anybody in the UK is interested, The Burrow has just come back in stock on Lego's website and you can still get a free Brickheadz if you spend another £10.01 at the same time. I've had the page bookmarked for days and have been checking a lot and it finally came back in stock this afternoon just in time before the promo ends. Edit: Gone again. There's this website called Brickwatch.net where you can track sets and it'll notify you when it's back in stock, it's how I kept tabs on the LEGO Creator Expert Crocodile Locomotive. However this website is only limited to the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, and the UK. Basically it shows all webshops in those countries and shows their prices if in stock. It's how I look for the cheapest sets in Dutch webshops, very handy.

DNSNVN01 Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Seeing as how quality quidditch supplies is a massive upgrade on the old one with yellow draco and how these new subject books are similar to the cardboard class sets in the old line, I was wondering: Is there any old sets you guys would NOT like to see be remade. For whatever reason whether its because the old one can't be topped in your opinion or that the concept of the set wouldnt fit with the new theme. Personally I think the duelling club would be a wasted slot getting remade as its supposed to be based in the great hall which we have and it gives us a ton of repeats for what the set would be worth with only lockhart standing out as unique. I feel the same towards freeing dobby as well I originally thought the same with classroom sets and even now after them being announced I'm still slightly skeptical but does anyone else feel this way about any particular set

It was part of the Great Hall prototype.

I feel the same towards freeing dobby as well I would quite like the Duelling Club, different Lockhart and Snape prints, a nice stage construction, Harry and Malfoy, maybe Justin Finch Fletchley too so more house torsos. The Sorting Hat, Flying Lesson, Freeing Dobby and Draco's Encounter with Buckbeak wouldn't add anything new that couldn't be included elsewhere, I suppose Sirius Black Escape for the same reason. A Remembrall and Dead Ferret are the only things I can think of for those sets which could be interesting parts.

I would prefer to mess with QQS digitally without destroying the physical set first, and I'm assuming the only solution for my dilemma is to manually build it again I think you can import models into Stud.io? Or maybe it’s just the parts... ——— So, I bought the last of the 2018 sets for me to get, Whomping Willow. I have to say, I’m not a massive fan of the tree; the way it goes from blocky brick built to smooth with stickers to branches seems kinda clunky to me. I also feel like the top of the tree is extremely sparse, I guess for the car play feature. Has anyone found a good way to bulk it out a bit?

I feel the same towards freeing dobby as well I originally thought the same with classroom sets and even now after them being announced I'm still slightly skeptical but does anyone else feel this way about any particular set As one who never bought any of the original waves of sets I look forward to whatever they give us. I'm currently sorting through bulk auction purchases that include parts of the old Diagon Alley, and the Hogwarts sets from 2010-2011. I've even found some of the minifigs or parts of them and several animals including all 3 owls. I may have to order the missing minifig parts for some but figure I can use some of the newer ones in their place. I really like some of the smaller builds from the original run from early-mid 2000's but the current secondary market prices are ridiculous & I really would rather stick with the flesh toned minifigs at this point. While some of these smaller builds have been replicated to some degree as rooms in current larger builds I'm all for getting more common areas & classrooms full of potions, creatures & such. Any opportunity to get some generic students especially for the other houses is also welcome. While it's possible that some of the original sets can't be topped for those of us who are new collectors of the HP line it's all fair game. I like how they are doing different portions of the castle rather than one cost prohibitive large set. For those who've collected all along I guess it's a bit like the SW line where too many remakes of the same ships & locations gets tiresome. I have many of the original SW sets so on the rare occasion I buy new ones I sometimes wonder why I bothered. Most of the new SW sets have no appeal to me so I rarely buy them anymore & the ones I really want are so expensive I much rather buy the HP stuff now. I still need a version of the Forbidden Corridor, Durmstrang Ship, Merpeople, Shrieking Shack, Chamber of Secrets and all the small sets from the earlier releases. Considering it's been almost 15 or more years for most of them I think any new releases would be welcomed by most of us due to all the newer building techniques & parts available now.

chris6507 Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 (edited) Just been wondering, is it just me or is the quality of the 1st Harry Potter Collectible Minfigures series pretty poor compared to LEGO's normal standards? The particular things i've noticed is that a lot of the face prints are a lot larger or at least seem larger as the spacing between the eyes and the mouth etc are further apart. I've also been noticing that the hands are particularly poor quality. The clutch in the hands is really weak compared to all my other figures. They just don't hold their wands as well. They are quite loose and when in a container always seem to be the ones that lose them. This may have been a discussion in the past when I wasn't on the forum, but just wondering if this was all a known thing or if there was a particular reason? But i'm pretty sure that they are literally the poorest quality minifigures i've ever purchased. Just wanted to add that i'm not complaining about the figures or anything, just genuinely curious as to why they seem a bit off compared to other figures. Edited September 16, 2020 by chris6507

Maybe you should specify what you're actually talking about as (at least for me) it's not all that clear. The first sets ever made for Harry Potter? The first series of rebooted sets? The first CMF series?

Come to think of it, it's mostly the actual set figures that have a questionable quality these days Poor printing, cracked arms, cracked torso's and all that.

It's more that the hands all just seem to be moulded differently in that they aren't as tight as others. As I also said, there's something a bit off about the faces. The year 3 Ron and Hermione are the most obvious ones to me, their features just feel very spread out or something. Also I noticed they don't have that square grey looking mark on the necks that all figures normally have. They've just always seemed very different to me not just to other figures, but to other CMF figures as well. I thought it might have been some particular "thing" that happened or changed that I didn't hear about it, but maybe i'm wrong. 1 minute ago, DNSNVN01 said: Where did you buy these cmf minifigures. But I bought extras over time from Target, Kmart, EBGames and Woolworths in Tasmania Australia. So all direct from retail and from multiple locations and sources. Even recently got some Neville's from Bricklink and they have the same slightly looser hands to normal figs. Really thought it was an obvious thing, but maybe it's just me. Lol.
karrit Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 If I remember correctly the wands that came with the Series 1 CMF's were made differently that the ones that came in the first wave of sets. Some people thought the ones with the CMF's were made better than the others since they were easier to place in the hands. I've noticed that they do come out easier. Just went through a bunch I have in a box & several of the wands were loose in the box.

I might look into that. :-) Also just read that apparently not having the mark on the neck is a CMF thing in general, so that explains that. Still think a couple of the figures have really odd looking faces, but oh well. Lol.

lego_guyon02 Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 My CMF box also arrived, so excited I knew it would be bad but having it in hand really makes you realise just how awfull Kingsley's cape is. These kind of capes should never be the soft material.
