Lord Santos Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 (edited) It is finally here!!! Let's check the set ID: Coast Guard Patrol Boat & TowerItem #: 7739 Ages: 5-12 Pieces: 444 Price: EUR 64.95- Got it at 50€ This is the biggest Coast Guard set released until now but I dont know if the Coast Guard Platform set is going to be bigger or not... To the review... 1st- The Coast Guard Boat TLC brings us another floating big boat similar to the Police boat and Fire boat of 2006 and 2007, but this time the lower part is different, having a cooler look along with the orange... The "buildable" section of the boat is composed by a small crane that in teory could lift up to 32 tons (Stickers are so wrong ", an anchor that is in fact a winch (dont know why did Lego put the winch) and the most important part of the boat, a medical area where you can slide down the patient and where you can store your scuba gear. The control room is very simple, just two slopes with controls printed on and nothing else, it looks empty... The exaust tubews of the boat are very cool and the control room can be reached just by opening the ceiling that is stuck using the new piece 48336. The boat also comes with a orange "rubber" boat, wich I think that in this colour is new... Coast Guard Boat- PROs and CONs PROs .Nice boat resembling one of the Divers theme boat; .The sliding system is genious and relly works; .The new lower part is better than the last ones. CONs .The control room is to simple; .The medical area should have been closed; .To put some stickers on you have destroy the boat; .The crane is half outside the boat, making it very unstable; .A winch is not an anchor. Evaluation phase: Playability: 4,5 Pieces: 4,2 AFOLs opinion: 3,8 TFOLs opinion: 4,2 KidFOLs opinion: 4,7 Total: 4,3 2nd- The pier Very cool use of pieces, small lighthouse, ladder to acess pierd boats, a ladder to the CG tower, bunch of cargo I dont know what's for and the typical warnings : Beware of Minifig eating shark ( A STICKER!!! ) and the surfer dude using a black Mutt wig with typical city clothes even tought his a surfer... Coast Guard pier- PROs and CONs PROs .Nice pieces; .Cool mini-lighthouse. CONs .Breaks easily. Evaluation phase: Playability:4 Pieces:4,8 AFOLs opinion:4,7 TFOLs opinion:4,7 KidFOLs opinion:4,4 Total:4,5 3rd- Coast Guard Tower The tower has got a Bionicle 2006 playset baseplate and some pieces are <insert that tiresome argument> (They are curved what were you thinking?) it has got three levels: the toll storage, the medical floor and the observation level that has got brand new pieces and inovative ways to use an EXO-FORCE robot arm... Coast Guard Tower- PROs and CONs PROs .Can be easily adapted has a lighthouse; .More roomy than it appears to be; .Nice place to be the CG headquarters. CONs .Tool storage deposit is really a pain because it is always breaking itself apart; .To <insert that tiresome argument> for AFOLs; .Map of the observation floor is the size of normal adventurers maps but it his a ( STICKER!!! ) .No doors to get inside; .Decoration is mainly given by ( STICKER!!! ); .There is no way to connect it to the rest of the city. Evaluation phase: Playability:4,2 Pieces:5 AFOLs opinion: 3,8 TFOLs opinion: 4,2 KidFOLs opinion: 4,5 Total:4,34 Final thougts- Great set, but you may reconsider after seeing the Coast Guard Platform...
