Ayrlego Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 The quiet Eslandolan settlement of Hojaroja is slowly growing, and with that growth comes the requirement to be more self sufficient. Small crops of grains are now being grown to feed the settlement and the requirement to grind them down to flour is meet by this watermill. Situated on a gently flowing stream, the water current is enough to power a small wheel that operates the grindstone within. WIP and build log thread here. Thank you everyone who provided suggestions and comments along the way. Now here is the finished product! A second build for @The Neighborhood Merchant as a final down-payment for his Class 7 HMS Legion. I will license as a large factory on his account. I actually think I like the first build (Postmaster's office) better than this one. Still it was an interesting build and that is by far the largest tree I have ever constructed (there are approximately 300 leaves in the big tree - I think it could have probably easily used another 100-200! Count Vroskri Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 It's awesome finished @Ayrlego. I love it. This interpretation of your style and especially the auburn and ochre colours are really good. The building, too, is spot on and I love the way the mill and tree blend seamlessly and realistically into the base. Awesome, it deserves a frontpage! Quote
Professor Thaum Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 Wonderful one. This is a great great one you finished here. That half timbered house is really nice. I really like this massive tree. Quote
Capt Wolf Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 It turned out great! The chairs for the waterwheel work well, and that tree is magnificent. Nice assortment of details around the various windows. And of course your usual lovely landscaping. Another one of your instant classics! Quote
Garmadon Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 It's been really fun to watch this develop, Ayrlego, and the result is certainly worth the wait! The woodwork (love that d-brown section on the back) and waterwheel are superb, and it's always awesome to see an appropriately sized tree - especially a fall-colored one! The ground colors are probably my favorite detail though - those are just stunning! If it's possible to nitpick on such a lovely build, I think a few loose leafs (like these) on the pathway around back where the postman is would spice up the slightly empty space a bit; and something about the 2x1 brick right above the log brick tells me that it ought to be an inverted slope, maybe lifted up a plate so you could get a cheese slope underneath, to match the way the tree kind of weaves towards the right higher up. I know how tough it is to build natural-looking trunks though and you've done a fantastic job, so please feel free to the random feeling I've got about that brick! You're whole postal series (including this one cause it's got the postman, ) has been beautifully executed, and we owe both you and The Neighborhood Merchant for coming together to give the settlement some love! And I love fall colors - what can I say? Quote
Kai NRG Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 Looks great Ayrlego, lovely job on the tudor second story! I like the bits of dark grey in the roof too, and incredible amount of leaves on that tree - for once, a large tree with a satisfying amount of leaves! Looks great, complements the ground colors very well. It's too bad the layout is such that you can't see the wheel from the front though, it feel like either picture misses half of the build. But I love your window designs! Quote
The Neighborhood Merchant Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 Like your previous build, this is absolutely gorgeous. The sheer size of the tree is an awesome aspect of the build, and like you said, those Autumn colors are always nice! Similarly to the postal build, I love the stonework and woodwork you do, it really feels like a lot of work was put into it and it's alive. Your builds have been truly amazing to see and there is nothing more I could have asked for. Cheers! Quote
Fraunces Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Very nice one build... Love the colours once again. We've seen it coming to be in steps, which makes it more fun to see the end result now I think. Quote
evancelt Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 (edited) Simply spectacular! So cool to see so much vertical build on a regular-ish sized base - gorgeous tree and house facade. The 1x1 round plates on the roofline add some fun ornamentation Edited November 30, 2020 by evancelt Quote
LM71Blackbird Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Your builds never cease to amaze me! Beautiful fall colors give it a warm feel. My only suggestion would have been to fill the surrounding area with with 1x1 blue or white rounds. However, it is a small nitpick to a wonderful build! Quote
Khorne Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 It was cool to see the build progressing in the build thread and it's great to see it finished. Another clean build as always. I love the stonework, which is mottled and rough with texture, but not over the top as is often seen. Overall it gives me somewhat more of a Castle vibe, but it fits BoBS perfectly as well. The autumn colors look really awesome too. That gigantic tree steals the show! Nice colors and build there. I love how it overhangs the base. Quote
