Ayrlego Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 When Port Woodhouse was established it was accepted that the location was strategic in nature and unlike nearby Jameston, there was little potential for the large scale farming of cash crops such as sugar that primarily drive Corlander colonisation of the New World. Despite this, many small land holders have established small farms to service the growing local population and visiting Royal Navy ships. Here one such farmer negotiates with a Royal Navy Petty Officer for the delivery of fresh vegetables to a visiting vessel. Meanwhile a trio of pigs fattens up in the small pen under the shade of a fig tree. Figs have been found to grow quite well in the less humid conditions on Garma's Key and the wardroom of many a visiting Naval vessel has benefited from a special delivery of fresh or preserved figs. A quick build to finish out the year. I had hoped to achieve a bit more building this break, but unfortunately real life had other plans! Anyway Puvel and evancelt's recent Port Woodhouse builds put me in the mind for a quick Port Woohouse scene so here it is! The structure was done in one building session on Boxing day and I finished the landscaping off over the last couple of days. Will be licensed as a plantation in PW for the settlement. Anyway, I hope everyone is having an enjoyable and safe holiday season. All the best for the New Year, cheers for making the BoBS community so great! Quote
Fraunces Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Another small beauty from your workplace, always enjoyable to see Very elegant house, the air-vent or what does one call that in English, on top of the roof, was a well executed idea! Quote
Professor Thaum Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Wow, once again, a wonderful job. The farm is great but, I'm more impressed by your work on the plants, you always bring something new an inspiring ( You work as landscape gardener IRL ?) Quote
Bodi Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 A very nice moc, I like the variation on the wall, and roof built with round bricks, the tree, the plants, and the livestock. Quote
Kai NRG Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Great job on the mixing of colors in the roof and the walls. As I mentioned on Flickr, the tree is really good too. I think it looks even better in contrast to the olive toned ground vegetation. A lovely MOC! Quote
evancelt Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Gorgeous! I love the three-leaf plant piece as tree leaves and the handcart design. What piece is used for the above-door pulley? Quote

Khorne Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 Another excellent build in the now iconic Port Woodhouse style! Those white masonry bricks really help to bring a bit of extra texture to the wall. The cart with the carrots looks really good too. Simple and effective. Quote
Capt Wolf Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 Another beauty from you. Loving that tree! That new leafy piece looks great! Quote
