BrickBob Studpants Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Bee Mario, finally something from Galaxy Frog Mario is also a nice addition The Lakitu set and Series 3 sound cool as well. Looking forward to more details!
Borex Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Lakitu! This wave sounds promising. I never bought the mario suits, but i am interested on how they are going to look this time. and blind bag series 3 sounds like more fun than series 2 imho. Also interesting to see how they will make some of them

I'm still crossing my fingers for a microscale Peach's Castle/Mushroom Kingdom, please! Speaking of which, is that a first-ever micrscale D2C, right?

KevinMD Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 What is the point of the one up in the current game context? It’s not like you die.

I dislike mushrooms in the bags, i don’t think they need to be there because they are not characters. They should be in sets.

nicknack116 Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Sorry for any confusion bringing up the rumors on the D2C set. The only rumors I've heard on instagram are that it's a microscale with nanofigures like the Hogwarts D2c, but no idea how reliable those rumors were? Can't find them again now... Hopefully, we know exactly what it is soon! The Bee and Frog costumes are great, and it's smart to keep choosing costumes without an 'M' or 'L' on the cap, so you can put them on Mario or Luigi. As opposed to the Fire/Builder/Propeller costumes which all have an 'M.' I wonder if it'll be worth it for Nintendo to come out with Luigi versions of those or not? 17 hours ago, gedren_y said: There has been a rise in retro gaming since the pandemic (me included), and a number of more obscure Mario games are being marketed these days. It stands to reason that Lego would capitalize on this with the character packs, as they are an easy sell to that market. Additionally, a lot of that market likely have kids in the right age range that the gameplay of this theme could appeal to. Parent and child crossover appeal is a major accomplishment for a theme, and I've seen that happen firsthand with Super Mario. I'm going back and forth on this. I completely agree with this. I'm in my 30s, my kids love playing with these sets, and I love building with them. And I think there's a lot of fun sharing Mario with them through LEGO and playing on the Switch together. But some of them don't scream "Mario character" the same way as Goombas, Shy guys, Koopa Troopa, Thwomps, Buzzy Beetles, Cheep-Cheeps, etc. I had to look up Crowber, Amp, and Scuttlebug cause I was at a total loss, and I've been playing Mario games since the original on NES. That said, Galoomba is a great addition. I love Super Mario World. And I'm glad to see a standalone Boo. Parachute Bob-Omb is fun (though I want a pink Bob-Omb from Mario 64!). And I'm similarly confused by what the 1-up will do and if gameplay is changing to include lives?

Ralph Bohner posted a picture of a microfigure with a mario hat or something some months ago, that's where that rumor comes from
jedisquidward Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 May I ask where people are finding this list of names for Series 3? I can't seem to find it. Thank you!
KevinMD Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 I’d be ok if they added a pro-mode where if the sensor doesn’t see lego colors within one second or something Mario dies. Similarly if he falls off a platform. One of the ‘frustrations’ of playing a level with my son is he will just warp to all the interactive things and skip the path. Would be nice to say “you can’t do that!” with the death music.

Not an official leak or anything just a photo he edited to hint at something.
Portal Out Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 Lego listed Super Mario as one of the themes that’ll appear on the Lego Con stream. I’m guessing that they’ll probably reveal the D2C then, and definitely the august wave if they haven’t already by the time the event rolls around.

Ooo, that cold be possible but we will find out soon enough. I’m quite excited about microscale D2C set. Although, I prefer normal minifigures in that set (of course, not likely to happen).

I think we’ll see the sets before the event, and TLG seem to agree After all, the announcement includes “a closer look” at the sets rather than “a reveal” thereof (unlike the Republic Gunship), implying they won’t be first revealed there TLG have probably realised they can’t keep regular retail sets a secret for that long, so might as well drop the pretense
BrickBob Studpants Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Series 3 has officially been revealed Quite a neat selection IMO
Borex Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Yes, i like them! That Boo is supercool. And i instantly want to play Mario games when i see these :-) good job!
Darth Shadowthrone Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Series 2 has been my favourite, and the series I've bought the most of, but this is certainly an interesting and varied series too! My favourites here are the Bony Beetle, the Amp and Torpedo Ted (just because I missed the rocket from series 1)
BrickBob Studpants Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 (edited) The rumours were true, the flagship of the wave is quite literally a flagship I love the overall look of the airship, and particularly the Bowser face on the bow and that fold-out feature The figures are also well done, especially Kamek with useful printed 1x1 round tiles for his glasses. Rocky Wrench and the pirate Goomba are nice additions as well The only thing that’s missing is a Koopaling. At this pace, it’ll take ages for us to get all 7 of them Edited June 16, 2021 by BrickBob Studpants
Borex Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Oh sh*t! That Airship is awesome! A big want! Best Mario set imho.
