I think the chess set will actually be such a nice surprise to everyone with how good of a set they've managed to pull off for the price and its function as a chess set

I hope the same can be said about still unknown big D2C set

Well... (in response to me saying I doubted the chess pieces would be bigger than a minifigure)

Interesting! I just realised there's a scenario where minifigures aren't shown next to the chess pieces at all - or what if the trio are nanofigs like the D2C Hogwarts

In all seriousness this is the most interesting set to me out of the August wave so far, especially since it should be much more palatable at 900 pieces. Has anyone got any brick-built statues in mind which could be comparable to the chess pieces in scale? The best estimate that I came up with was a Statue of Liberty polybag, 40026: (just with a much smaller plinth)

There is two rows of chess pieces on each side then 4 empty rows in the middle as there is 8 rows on the board 😁

Well that’s cleared up then! Normal chess board it is!

There were 20 Minifigs in the Pirate set.  I see no need to downgrade to nanofigs.  I would expect the chess figures to be mostly monochromatic.  The pawns can be a simple build rather than the actual 16 minifigs the Pirate set used as pawns.  Hopefully they would at least be something that use the minifig head with some sort of hat on top.  Only the 2 Kings, 2 Queens, 4 Knights, 4 Bishops & 4 Rooks need to be a bit more detailed.  The rooks could be a small brick built turret.  We know we want horses of some sort for the Knights.  There was the Horse mold for the Cowboy CMF a few years back.  Bishops can be a minifig body, head, skirt, bishop hat & some sort of staff.  So including the trio, a golden anniversary minifig, 2 Kings, 2 Queens, 4 Bishops & 4 Knights that could be 16 minifigs over all.  Definitely possible given that the Ludo set has 16 & the Pirate Chess Set had 20.  Of course I would love it if the Pawns were actually student minifigs wearing generic Hogwarts robes but that would't be screen accurate to the pawns in the scene and I don't see them giving us 32 minifigs.

All they need is a base beneath the minifig to raise them up a little higher than normal similar to what they did in the Pirate set.  I'm not expecting them to come up with a bunch of new molds to make fancy large chess pieces when a combination of minifig parts & bases would yield decent results.  There have been plenty of knights, kings & queens over the years that they could re-use parts from.

If the new Quidditch set is only $30 compared to the 2018 set at $40, do you guys think it is enough to make stands for all four houses? That's why I love the 2018 set versus the other two Quidditch sets.

The Quidditch set is not a playset though, it's a brick-built object

Is this confirmation or is it a rumor

When it comes from someone reliable like this, just take it as confirmation. But a pinch of salt should always be applied until official images come out

This is the set that @Falconfan1414 hinted was a brick built version of Neville’s Rememberall. Yes you read that right. He said it was a Rememberall. Not a Golden Snitch. Not a Quaffle nor a Bludger. A Rememberall. :ugh:

The August wave, if it's even coming then :head_back:, deffo feels more of an adult orientated wave with a lot of brickbuilt sets and display model ones rather than playsets which is intresting. I guess they are trying to suit both markets with the playscale Hogwarts sets then more older display model sets...

I’m not sure if this has been discussed before but will April be likely for us to see official images of Harry Potter’s June sets?

The release date for them isn't even fully know yet so not sure. If they are coming in August probably end of June. If they are coming in June then end of April

I wish it would be Gringotts Banks. I am not sure about brick-buildable figures...

Oh really, I thought that was set in stone. So you are saying there's a chance everything gets released in June?
