DNL Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 (edited) I decided to make a dwarf version of my latest MOC. This is the mine twenty years before the Bhurths took it: The old version: FLICKR Brickshelf Edited June 12, 2008 by Hinckley Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Excellent DNL! What an outstanding scene. Some of the components that I really like include: Waterwheel: Absolutely love it! It really adds to the quality of the man dwarf-made structure. Tower structure: I really like how you added the diagonal brown tiles providing a really "rickety" appearance (this is something I was trying to do for my water tower). Hoist/lift component: Very nice detail with the string and lifting mechanism. Shack/building: nice roof with mix of browns. Landscaping: Excellent! I really like how the water trickles through the rock and small little cavern section - beautiful detailed touch. The foliage/green is also very nicely done. Mountain: This type of construction always amazes me. I need to try the technique sometime. Overall, this scene has so much detail and combination of nice elements, it looks great. Very impressive! EDIT: And the new version looks a lot better - although I liked the pine trees. Quote
KurttKrueger Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Wow, I really like this MoC. I liked it before, but the Dwarf version really captures the industriousness of the race. I especially like how you've captured the passage of time between the two scenes. Very realistic. Quote
Zarkan Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Incredible MOC. The detail is stunning - all that foilage and the rock walls are awesome. I love the apple tree in the old one, and the wooden wheel in the new one. Quote
JimBee Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Awesome! i like both versions very much. Lots of vegetaion goes a long way for creations such as this. The log cabins are very nice as well. The waterwhell is great. Also, i wish you could have incorporated the pine trees in this one, but i guess they both have their advantages and disadvantages. And the goblins... i dont remember seeing those before. are they custom or just an old mold? Quote
Shoc Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Like I said about the other version: Wow! And the goblins... i dont remember seeing those before. are they custom or just an old mold? They are from the Harry Potter Gringotts set. :skull: Quote
Asuka Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 A fine version of your already very good MOC, the shack looks neat and the bogie (or´s it bogy ?) wheel´s simply marvelous, poor Bhurth.... Quote
WhiteFang Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 This is a marvelous conversion! The wheel and mining station is done very well. Love the shed too. Very impressive! Quote
commanderbly42 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Nice job DNL! I love it. It's incredibly well designed and the use of SNOT on the cliff is great. Great work! Quote
Adam Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 WHOA! Awesome MOC! That looks cool (both of them look cool!). I can only say        That is really cool! Quote
Norro Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I like the wheel, hoist mechanism a lot! A great extension of a good MOC... God Bless, Nathan Quote
Wout Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 That's a very nice prequel you've made DNL. (and it contains no Jar Jar ) I like it to see what was the former function of the dungeon. Is there a dwarf who walks in the big wheel to move it? the landscape is very nice. Btw, Now the soldiers captured the mine, will they give them back to the dwarfs, or are the dwarfs all killed by the goblins? Quote
hollisbrick Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Wow its..its beautiful!!!! both are great but I like the dwarf version beter and the water whell is beautifully done great job Quote
DNL Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 (edited) Thanks for the comments! Waterwheel: Absolutely love it! It really adds to the quality of the man dwarf-made structure. It is not a waterwheel, but a treadmill crane. It works like a hamster wheel. That's a very nice prequel you've made DNL. (and it contains no Jar Jar )I like it to see what was the former function of the dungeon. Is there a dwarf who walks in the big wheel to move it? the landscape is very nice. Btw, Now the soldiers captured the mine, will they give them back to the dwarfs, or are the dwarfs all killed by the goblins? The dwarfs get the mine back. I wanted to include some dwarfs in the siege scene, but i didn't have any yet Edited June 10, 2008 by DNL Quote
Nikola Bathory Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 ooo! Great scene! Big and with lots of detail! It is a pleasure to look at it!! Great! Quote
Dwarvenlord Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Nice! This MOC is better, i reckon, also because there Dwarves now . I like the changes of the landscape (pity of the evergreens/pines) the slave gonlin ( heheh...) and the changes of the wood constructions. Not many, but a large difference! Quote
DJ Force Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Holy Camoly! That has got to be the most wickedestest castles MOC folder I´ve ever seen in my whole life! You are a true genius at building mines, castles, fortresses and medieval fantasy landscapes! Have you ever thought about building commissions? I guess you could make a fortune with this talent. Quote
Tom_castlefan Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 I first saw this on brickshelf... it is breath-takingly beautiful. Wish I had this sort of talent! Would love to see more - I also like the story you've included. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I really like this version! I mean the other was cool too, but this just shows the industriousness of the dwarves. The whole crane wheel powered hamster thing is really well constructed. Im a big fan of combining light and dark bley cliff faces, and yours is all snotted up too, most impressive. You have given me a whole heap of inspiration. Hopefully my Skeleton Castle MOC can live up to all the other cool MOCS on EB. Just waiting for some BL orders. Cheers ISC :skull: Quote
