XG BC Posted February 13 Posted February 13 another update on my small narrow gauge endevour: i made another version of my tipper wagon, that now is more realistic looking and less tall to fit my locomotive better scale wise: the loomotive also got an update, now having a way to couple to other wagons: lastly i made a Diorama to keep the train and show it off. of course this all also exists irl (with some changes to the colors) hope you like it! Feuer Zug Posted February 18 Posted February 18 This would be perfect for a small industrial site or a coal mine. Quote
XG BC Posted February 22 Posted February 22 yup! thats where These were used the most, although that locomotive is more for above ground operations, the tunnel versions have a lowered cab, and of course either exhaust filters, or are battery powered. Quote
XG BC Posted February 23 Posted February 23 (edited) well today i have made a bucket chain excavator (idk if thats the correct name for it in english, in german its called eimerkettenbagger) the first one uses excavator chain, but that doesnt look very realistic the second one uses panels, brackets and brick modifieds for a much more realistic looking model the third one has enclosed buckets the fifth has a longer boom, supported by cables the last Version is with enclosed buckets and long boom: and here are all the versions: these excavators were mainly used in quarries to gather gravel among other things, the gravel was automatically loaded into hopper cars that were on a track beside the digger, which itself rode on wider track than the Hopper cars. my model was mainly inspired by the bush model railways version: Edited February 23 by XG BC Quote
idlemarvel Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Waddya mean, they don't actually operate! Joking. Excellent little models. I think i prefer the last version. Quote

It's a good model. And I'm a fan of the fifth version as well. The enclosed buckets and longer boom work best. Quote
XG BC Posted February 27 Posted February 27 (edited) todays locomotives: a deutz omz 122f, inspired by the model railway company busch: jumping over the iron curtain here are some locomotives from the gdr, the lkm ns2: and the later variant ns2f, with a different drivetrain with connecting rods, because the original chain drive wasnt very releiable and maintenance heavy: Edited February 27 by XG BC Quote

XG BC Posted February 28 Posted February 28 todays locomotives: these are inspired by rocos h0e they dont have an irl prototype, i made all the colors that were available: and here is the black one up close (i also happen to have that model) the back: Quote
XG BC Posted March 1 Posted March 1 (edited) next up is an o&k rl1 locomotive more pics are here: https://www.entlang-der-gleise.de/Feldbahnen/feldbahn-OuK.html its a very early locomotive with no full hood and quite a bit of exposed engine parts (1930s-1940s old) and here is the first locomotive the famous feldbahn locomotive maker gmeinder ever made, there is just this one picture, its from 1921 (so makes sense that there is only one picture made) i had to take a few creative liberties, especially for the paintjob, i chose something i thought would make sense in 1921. Edited March 1 by XG BC added the first ever gmeinder locomotive Quote
XG BC Posted March 2 Posted March 2 and here we have the classic "glück auf" wagon that was (and is) infront of most coal mines, complete with a Board with infos about the mine (here its just blank) Quote
XG BC Posted March 21 Posted March 21 the next set of wagons, some to carry logs in multiple variations the ones with 2 bogies are actually held together by the logs themselves, and of course can swivel. Quote

XG BC Posted March 22 Posted March 22 i have considered this aswell, will try tomorrow, maybe that looks better, i need to see. today i made this: a small enclosed cargo wagon, inspired by this busch model: https://www.busch-modell.de/Feldbahn-Lokomotiven-Wagen/12230.aspx and there is also one for the workers with an oven inside: and i have finished the people carrying cars i have tried to do yesterday aswell: Quote
XG BC Posted April 1 Posted April 1 to make sure my post doesnt get lost eventually here is some narrow gauge track for stud.io: Quote
XG BC Posted April 6 Posted April 6 my first attempt at making the locomotive self contained, it uses cr2032 coin cells, you can use either 1 or two of them depending on the speed you want. here is a short video, still need to figure out how to enclose it all, sorry for the video quality, its not great, its already dark out and lighting wasnt the best. https://flickr.com/photos/145736297@N05/54434565844/in/dateposted-public/ Quote
XG BC Posted April 7 Posted April 7 today i made the battery fully enclosed and i took better pictures, along with a render: here is the real thing, with its battery for scale (it can also use two for extra speed as the servo is for 5v and two will give it about 6v, but one looks more prototypical). and here is the video: https://www.flickr.com/photos/145736297@N05/54437179289/in/dateposted-public/ Quote
idlemarvel Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Very clever piece of micro engineering. It would look great as a moving part of a mining or other industrial diorama Quote
zephyr1934 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 That's some amazing engineering to build one of the smallest motorized lego train engines Quote
XG BC Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Yesterdays build: an lew el3 mining locomotive. These were used in large above ground coal mines, they ran on 1200V DC, and could run either with Overhead wires or Side mounted wires for loading wagons in the mine. There are some that are preserved, and used for tourist trains. One railway uses a generator wagon, since the electric lines are long gone. Quote
