Bobflip Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Been occasionally lurking these forums for a few years but this is my first post. Finally got this finished this after two years development. Decided I had to build a Lego ED-209 something like 8 years ago, and it was the trigger for getting out of my dark ages. But aside from a few test builds a couple of years later (which weren’t great as I didn’t have the skills or the collection at that point) I didn’t really pick up the project until late 2019. Waiting turned out to be a blessing, as there’s essential parts in there that weren’t available back then, including quite a few that were released while I was working on it! Just wanted to build one at first and didn't plan for it to be this detailed, but as it gradually got that way I went all in. It’s a pretty dense build, over 2’400 parts, 10.5” high and weighs 1.3kg. Took a lot of designing and redesigning to get everything as accurate and stable as possible. There’s multiple sections and details that I didn’t think would be possible to represent well in brick form, but at this point, there’s barely any compromises I’ve had to make and every bit is as good as I think I can get it now! Could only attach one pic (prob cause first post) but there's more on my Flickrhttps://www.flickr.com/photos/93346883@N03/with/51706981298/ Quote
nerdsforprez Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Thxs for submitting. I see alot of wires in the feet. Are there lights in this MOC? Also, are those stainless steel liftarms for the legs? Why? I see that this is a large, heavy MOC, but surely regular LA would have been sufficient? Quote
Bobflip Posted December 3, 2021 Author Posted December 3, 2021 No lights, I don't think there's any on the original though. The liftarms are regular ones painted chrome as I couldn't get the different lengths uniformly in flat silver and pearl light grey, but I'll be buying some chromed ones from custombricks.nl. Quote
nerdsforprez Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Got it. Well it looks great. WHat about the red and green lines at the bottom, if they are not for lights, are they wires to something else? Quote
Bobflip Posted December 11, 2021 Author Posted December 11, 2021 Thanks! The wires in the foot are a cosmetic detail from the original: Quote
