LM71Blackbird Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 (edited) Class 5 - HMS Queen After much deliberations at the Pine Island Monastery , it was finally time for Sir Major Brickford to depart from Terraversa and make haste to Brickford Landing. After tidying up some loose ends in Westface, the newly arrived ship from the Quinnsville shipyards had just arrived, the HMS Queen. Either way, the sea air felt good. Ship3 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr ---------------------------------------- Thanks for looking! I've had this ship built for months, and I figured it was high time that I posted it and got the Major to the New Haven sea before I miss the fighting! Extra pics in the spoiler. Spud The Viking Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Good ship, nice details. It looks a very sturdy vessel. Quote
NOD Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 A very beautiful and well-built ship! I like the shape of the hull. Quote

It looks sturdier than it is! 7 hours ago, NOD said: A very beautiful and well-built ship! I like the shape of the hull. Thank you! Brick built hulls give the ship a nicer look than just the prefabs I think. 4 hours ago, Jeff of Clubs said: Beautiful and spacious to boot! Thanks! Quote
Bregir Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 As always, I am happy to see another vessel from the Quinnsville shipyards, and a brick-built one at that! My favourite parts of the brig are the bow and headrails and your raised quarterdeck. It does look a bit funky that the sides converged towards the stern right from the bow backwards. On your next ship, I'd suggest you look into having more or less parallel sides for approximately the space between the fore and main mast. I feel like I am spotting some hinges, but can't really see a tumblehome, which may be a nice challenge for your next brick-built vessel. Your rigging looks good too - you could experiment with custom rigging. It takes a bit of string, but it's good relaxing work. I'd also like to see you try out more realistic masts. Right now, you have the topmast sitting right on top of the mainmast. In reality, they should be staggered, similar to what I have in this picture: The fall of the Resilience by Christian West, on Flickr Overall, excellent brig, sir! May she bring Brickford safely to the east to bring war to our enemies! Spoiler It looks like you have an admiral commanding her! Quote
evancelt Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Cool custom ship! Love seeing it fly the redcoat flag! Nicely done Quote

Yes, I've been compiling a list of things that I want to tackle on my next ship build. Admittedly, I was rather far into the build when I realized I had forgotten about the tumblehome! As for rigging, that is another thing that I really want to try my hand at. It brings the presentation of the build up several notches. 9 hours ago, Brickwolf said: Great ship!
