Ayrlego Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 Duque Pedro Alejandro Blazquez de Motamoros, Hero of Puerto Desafio. As portrayed here in oil on canvas by a leading Olean master, specially commissioned by the Duque de Motamoros to commemorate the occasion of the liberation of Puerto Desafio by Eslandolan forces in 617AE. The Duque de Motamoros personally led the victorious Eslandolan Guard against the toughest section of the Mardierian defences, achieving a break through and smashing into the port town to claim it for the Eslandolans. Coming from a long line of Eslandolan nobility, the Duque de Motamoros has always been a staunch Royalist, although he was enthusiastic in the early days of the Colonial Council when that body spearheaded Eslandola's involvement in the Eslandolan-Mardierian War in which he gained his reputation. Eager for more conquest and glory, he has been disappointed by the bureaucratic torpidity that the council finds itself in these days and longs for a firmer hand on the reigns. What he absolutely can not stand are the populist antics of Count Lewisham, whom he would gladly see executed for high treason. He might still support the Colonial Council if it had taken firm action against the depravities of Lewisham, but he now sees them as almost duplicitous in Lewisham's ascend. The King on the other hand took action to save Eslandola from a descent to rule by mob. King Fernando's firm hand must rule Eslandola if tragedy is to be averted! LONG LIVE THE KING! Just in case it's not abundantly clear, this is an entry for King Fernando... although Duque de Motamoros is of course a true Eslandolan, so if it were financially advantageous the Hero of Puerto Desafio could switch his support to anyone but Count Lewisham, whom he despises... NOD Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 (edited) Impressive scene of a battle! Of course, all are against the legitimately elected Count Lewisham! "Eslandola Mini-Challenge: The Return of the King". It is written in the title that the king will win! It needs cojones to be on the side of the underdog Count Lewisham. Jeff of Clubs Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 Fantastic little moc! The bass trim is easy on the eye, the story befitting, and the scene is frantic. Good show! Quote
Garmadon Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 (Oh wait, I'm a judge - I didn't say anything! ) Love the white and green colors here, and the posing - even the broken cannon posing! - is amazing as well; great job fitting such a good looking battle scene on to such a small base! Quote
Ross Fisher Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 It's a great build through and through. Definitely reminiscent of a Napoleonic portrait. I'll always be a purist, so the weapons, plumes and colours are a little upsetting, but that's my problem, not yours. I've questioned how the spearhead is sitting on that lance elsewhere. Looking forward to finding our your secrets! Quote
Professor Thaum Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 Very nice vignette ! I immediately thought to " La charge des Hussards " A painting from HL Dupray. You try yourself to master painting ? Quote
evancelt Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 So much action in such a little space! A masterpiece - well done. Not an inch of the build is wasted space. I especially love the saber that is through the yellowcoat in the foreground. His arm is perfectly positioned to hide whatever movie magic is going on behind to make it possible. The swivel bases in your build base look awesome as well. Quote
Capt Wolf Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 A wonderful build. Very dynamic! I love what is possible with the articulated horses. Great battle scene! I particularly like the smashed cannon. And the base for the vig is very cool! ... But, I can't help but think that Duque Pedro Alejandro Blazquez de Motamoros is trying to steal the thunder of Maurice of Greene, Prince of Brickwall, whom we already know was the hero of the battle of Puerto Desafio (earlier known by the name of the prior Mardiereian city on that site, La Puebloto). But never fear! Maurice would have been a royalist today if he had lived! Quote
Kai NRG Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 So lovely how you can get a 3D portrait effect with your minifigure posing... really sweet vignette! 18 hours ago, NOD said: Of course, all are against the legitimately elected Count Lewisham! I may need to build entries for both sides. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Long live the King! Excellent scene. But those green "governor" torsos? Self-printed? Or photoshopped? Quote
